The metallics are baked for sure, and they all have primer, however I believe (*might be wrong*) that the flat colors use a different paint than the metallics, which is why they are so much softer (as is my experience).

FWIW, I've worked on a silly amount of e92s; they seem to vary quite a bit. Mine is sparkling graphite and it is *rock hard*, like, wash it however I want hard. Like, hey there is a bird poop, I will wipe it off with this dry rag and not marr the finish hard. I lucked out I guess. Space Grey and Titanium Silver also seem pretty solid (both metallic). Black Sapphire, Montego, and Monaco also seem on the hard side of average (all metallic), whereas red, alpine white, and in particular jet black (the three flats) have all been painfully soft in my experience.

did an e-90 graphite metallic (almost purple) on friday. rotary burn at 900 on a edge blue pad and a 1z metallic polish. Crazy silly soft.

The SCMitt seems to be a personal thing. I don't like the way I have to push it into tight areas; like in between mirrors, spoilers, etc. A sheepskin or even grout sponge goes right in with no effort. I don't mind the way it actually cleans; I just find it requires a bit more work and pressure.

I have tried the new Opt Tire Shine, I seem to be the only one that doesn't like it, so I am sure it is me. As for P21S; I find the menzerna ph neutral wheel cleaner to be much more effective as equally as safe.

Try that Menzerna ph balanced cleaner, I use it on my wheels and any other wheels I do with uncoated aluminum; it cleans better than P21S (imo) and is easily as safe.

You hit the nail on the head with the schmitt. 1z wheel cleaner is also fairly good.

That's so weird; that's the color I have (sparkling graphite, has a slight purple hue in some light), and it is silly hard. Every SG I've worked on has been crazy hard. Confusing.

I have pics of the car, I was able to remove heavy marring around the gas cap with 1z high gloss polish on blue edge 2k pad at 1400-1500 rpm. To be honest i think it has more to do with 1z metalic not liking roatrys than it does the paint. but needless to say it was still very soft. No repaint, from what my PDM said anywho.

'I was pretty disappointed by the Quixx High Performance Scratch Remover (Spruce up your Car for Spring with QUIXX High Performance Scratch Remover.\r\n\r\nI got a scratch when someone pushed his/her cart at my 2007 Maxima at one of the WalMart parking lots. After reading excellent reviews for Quixx, especially a good review in Amazon.com by a person who got a scratch from a grocery cart on his BMW, I decided to give it a try. I followed all the directions and worked on the scratch on three separate occasions but nothing changed. Fortunately for me, nothing worsened.\r\n\r\nHere are some pics of my scratch.\r\n\r\n

Most overrated that I've used...

Poorboy's line. (except Spray & Wipe)

Adam's Products (except Detail Spray)

Chemical Guys products (except Detail Spray - probably made for Adam's)

Meguiar's NXT line (of course their just OTC)

None of the above products are really bad... just similar to a 100 others.

That's all I can think of for now. :D

Why do so many people say that NXT tech wax is over rated? It has a lot of amazing qualities that many of you people like, such as being easy to remove, leaves no dust behind, hides swirls and scratches very well, and it definitely darkens up a black or dark colored finish (better than Zaino Z5Pro, in my experience). The shine is simply incredible. Yes, that shine might not last a long time, but honestly now, how many of you go 6 months in between waxings? Probably not many. I'm sure a good number of you do it every week or two.

And if you like how NXT looks but want something that hold's it's shine longer, you can always go with Meguiar's #21! That's what I did, and I'm extremely happy. I typically don't go very long in between waxings either, but still decided to switch to #21 just because I know it has the ability to last a long time, just in case there is a long period of time that I can't work on my paint (such as the upcoming winter season) And it's even easier to remove than NXT! I've never used a product that comes off with such ease.

There just seems to be so much hatred toward's Meguiar's products on here, which is ridiculous because they've been around for longer than any other manufacturer on here and their stuff is all top notch. And you can find most of their products quite easily without having to mail order them.

Mother's FX Tire Shine - (only product that ever "browned" my tires after a rain shower.)

NXT Liquid Wax- ( the look & longevity is not there )

S100- ( 5 days durability in midsummer )

DuraGloss AquaWax
- ( overhyped)

for overrated, i would say most of the zaino line- although i should be quiet, the zaino fanatics might come after me:hide:

CG Butter Wet Wax: Looks amazing for the 1st week. After that, forget about it! Huge disappointment.

+1. It does look great until the first wash. Also, cleaning up the application pad is a PITA.

the guys that don't like zaino, what are you using. It sucks putting on, but the stuffs amazing. I guess I will do a search, but what are the best products. There seems to be too many opinions to narrow anything done, I'll check another thread.

1. turtle Liquid Clay Bar. worst product I ever used

In the summer when I didn't mind waxing all the time, P21S. Then CG BWW. Both look better than Zaino on metallic paint. In the winter I used Zaino or Rejex just for the lasting power. Now I've forsaken all of those for CG Jet Seal. It seems to last like Zaino but pop like BWW. P21S is still the best, IMO, for a show car, but here in OR a wax that needs a redo every week in the winter won't work.

Their pro line is quite good, but just about everything in their consumer line is utter crap.

They have been around the longest but are the furthest behind in their consumer products, well, next to nu finish.

If the Zaino line is under-delivering for you, you are using it wrong.

UGH, Zaino fanboys. Just because someone doesn't like Zaino and thinks it's overrated doesn't mean they are retarded and can't use it. It's a sealant, it works like every other sealant, but I didn't realize you need a degree in rocket science to apply Zaino, sillly me.

Overrated:

- Zaino: amost everything they offer. Way to much $$ for something that can be done just as well, or better, for much less money.

- Poorboys Natty Blue: PITA to take off it left a little too long and durability is questionable

- P21S: great looks, a week of durability

- Opti-Seal: I am convinced that it's impossible to apply without streaking

- OHC: a lot less cut then there should be, Powergloss works 10x better.

Yeah its complicated. Wash, prep paint, apply zaino, buff off, repeat in 6 months.

What can be bought for less money and out performs:

Z8

Z2p

Z6

z3

z10

z16 ?

Z8: Aquawax

Z2: Wolfgang DGPS, Tropicare TC-3, DG 105

Z6: PB S&G, CG Speed Wipe, Megs UQD, DG FC&S

Z3: Never used

Z10: Wolfgang leather conditioner, Pinnacle LC, CG LC, Connolly
