1) Megs #16. I really do not see what is so great about this product. It really does not do anything for me and dont let it dry too long or your arms will be very tired!

2) Megs NXT. Do we really need to beat this dead horse again?

3) Poorobys Spray and Gloss. This QD really did not do much IMO. Made the surface more slick but that lasted just a few hours.

4) PS - I have only used this on silver and what and each time I used it I wished would have just applied another level of sealant.

I'll agree with psng as i haven't used #16 enough to give an honest judgement, but i gotta disagree with nxt, I mean it's an otc wax that when praised or mentioned on autopia there's usually the "for an otc wax" line that follows.

I suppose it's cliche, and perhaps I haven't used enough pure waxes, but I found #16 great last winter on one of my cars. Went on and off easy (thin!) and I put it on all the hard trim, etc., and it lasted great, longer than the 845 I had on my other car. Boy it was a bear to get off 20 years ago when I used most of my can and put it on like icing on a cake "so it would last a really long time" :o

optimum.. the whole line for me.

opti-seal was alright i guess. but i just have this feeling that it didnt last very long, even without being washed or rain. only thing nice about it was how easy it was to remove, but i found something better.

compound/hyper compound = joke! nothing "hyper" at all about the hyper compound.

no rinse wash: seems like im washing with just water. whats the point? doesnt give you the lube it does with regular car wash. i even try to up it with x2 and still the same. didnt really see the purpose for it. i could just use regular wash as a no rinse, wipe it down, and im going to be polishing/waxing anyways. i still have a lot left that im using for qd.. doesnt work too well on that either.

polish: takes forever to work! whats the point? time is money! sure sure.. its so sun friendly and spreads, but i found better things. and even tho it doesnt have fillers as it claims, it does a great job hiding stuff that'll reappear in a few days.

Great thread!!!!!!!!

I was very dissapointed in.

Optimum spray and wax..

PB's EX-P

OP

Glare auto polish

some of megs polishes and compounds

While looks are subjective to most and some will say they work and look great, they just never met my standards

I guess I am just looking for too much perfection

I feel the exact same way about ONR. To me, it may as well just be blue water.

And, what polish are you referring to?

pinncale sov.- i really dont see the fuss

megs 16- i ended up giving my tin away

opti-seal the clear stuff, just didnt work for me, so i dunno

the whole poorboys line

the entire adams line excluding the detail spray, i really liked that

I donlt understand how some people in this thread are disapointed with optimum, although I have not used opti-seal, everything I have ever used from optimum has been amazing, especially optimum polish and ONR.

Also when people complain about the long work time with OP, you do not HAVE to work it for that long, it is just an option, which can save time really. If you use OP on a lighter pad you can work it for so long that instead of using one aggressive polish n an aggressive pad followed by a finer polish on a finer pad, you can just work OP for a really long time instead.

Actually (I have done this when pressed for time, which is rare as my details are usually 12+ hours) you can use OP on a harsh pad (LC yellow, edge black etc...) and work it for a bit, then leave it on the surface and switch to a softer pad and finish it out.

I was disappointed with mothers carnauba wax from my pre-autopian days, way too hard to remove. I was also disappointed with #80 in the way that sealants just don't seem to bond over it. Also, #7 has never done anything for me on clearcoats.

Zaino Clear Seal. It was hyped to the max, like it was the second coming. Very flat look compared to the other two wipe on and done products, based on side by side comparisons.

Collinite 845. Somewhat less durable than #16 and the look is too bright to me, especially on dark colors.

Turtle Wax Clear Vue Glass Cleaner. Pretty much the worst glass cleaner I have ever used. Tons of streaking.

Meguiars wheel brush. The head is too large to get into small spaces and won't fit into fenderwells on any car I tried it on and barely fits into some SUV fenderwells.

Bought some OP a while back cause there was so much hype about it and everyone using it. tried it out and it gums up soo much, the worst i have ever seen, so i ended up getting rid of it.

Megs wheel brush, boy isnt that the truth.

I have not been impressed with much of the Megs line but especially NXT sealant, their brush line (two had bristles that came out on me), and DACP which gums up very easily. I find the Poorboys waxes much better than #16 and easier to apply as well. I do like their Quik interior detailer.

WOW I am surprized to see so many do not like #16

it is a fad now because it is a little harder to get

but its roots are strong! @ one point in time you could walk into a store and pick it up for $10-15 and it looked better and lasted longer then a almost any wax or sealant on the market!

it is one of the few meg's prod I still use

Did you put 2.834 tons on your pad?

The Zaino line. Lasted a long time just didn't like the look. Thank God Corvette guys love this stuff, I gave it all to my friend and he's in love with it.

Optimum OS- Bret and I are detailing a camry. As we where getting ready to apply OS, I had to go in the house to take care of a carpet mess left by my daughter and some lip gloss. I came out into the garage 30-45 mins later. I looked at the car and asked Bret, "I thought you where going to apply the OS?" He said, "I did" I could see no difference in the appearance of the car.

I have not used it since.
