Overrated products

If the Zaino line is under-delivering for you, you are using it wrong.

Or you like the look of other products more. For example, I really like Meguiars #16. Very durable and I think it looks great. Others say it adds nothing to the look. Can't fault them for that, everyone's eyes see things differently.

Streaking with opti-seal? Weird, I've never had it, honestly. I wonder if it's environmental? I've used it like 100 times without a streak. On the other hand, I must be using Zaino wrong. :p

Zero streaking for me. Are you sure that the streaking is not just the product trace (rainbow-like, oily-looking)? It should flash off almost immediately. Too much stays longer on the surface.

If so, use less product, and knock down the high spots with the app.

Careful now, you may soon be receiving a call from the Zaino PR guys. They just hate it when *you* can't use it correctly...:grinno:

I don't know why I can't get OS to work properly. I have tried every way I can think of to use it and I still get streaks. They aren't really streaks, but wherever I change directions with the applicator it leaves behind a spot on the finish. After I have done the whole car there are all of these little dark spots all over it.

I have to go back and QD the entire car to remove them. I like the product in terms of it's final look, but I just can't figure out how to use it. I don't think overrated is exactly the correct term, but I thought I'd throw it up there.

I wasn't so good (lucky) with CS or OS. You're not alone. One day I may give OS a try again but I'll wait for the reformulation that is *bound* to occur.

I also have the same problem with OS streaking. I also need to use a QD. Not a bad product though.

As for overrated AW, FK1 stuff ,FMJ &OP.

Don't hold your breath for a reformulation. My understanding is that the good Doctor is very happy with how OS turned out.

Using a foam Meguiars hand applicator, I have no problems applying OS or CS without streaking.

Re OS Streaking: I apply it very thin, usually only to the applicator, not to the surface. I use a Viper/Sonus MF pad.

If I work it, work it, work it, and then gradually use less and less pressure - even almost lifting the applicator a bit (barely touching the surface) so that the air/friction causes it to flash almost fully, then I get no streaking and just a few or no "spongy" spots...

While I was unable to get streaking from OOS, my UPGP streaked over a 3-week old layer of #26 on the same car. (Same MF application method.)

Generally, the two main causes for streaking:

1.) The film-forming ingredients cannot level and spread well. - obviously OOS can spread and level well by itself, so it is not the main discussion point. (Except severe overapplication)

2.) The film-forming ingredients interfere with each other. - also a compatibility issue. For me it is more likely... Let's collect the streaky WOWA combos to see if there's a direction, or if they are repeatable.

-I gotta say Z-12 glass cleaner. It dust too much with a PC, and I scratched my moms window applying it by hand. It cleans well, but it's not made for all glass.

-NXT, looks good, but can't handle Florida torrential rain.

-XMT 360, from my experience it marred my finish trying out this product. Never used it again.

Automotive window cleaners with gel.

"Stays put when you spray and stays put when you wipe (streaks horribly)".

Can't wait until I finish the bottle up...back to Stoner's Invisible glass.

I guess I am an idiot, as I have been using Poorboy's SSR line with what I thought were good results for years, but they seem to be the most mentioned product in this thread!

What are the most popular polishes? Is there a consensus?

Meguiar's #21 - Durability/protection hasn't been too great with me, and I've used it more then any other LSP I own on my RSX.

If it works well don't stop using it. I hate seeing people getting 'trapped' into online opinions.
