The car that hit me-1999 Honda Civic.

For those in the Dallas area, I was westbound on 183 approaching the 360 south flyover and as usual, traffic was stopped. I come to a stop and noticed a car just hauling a$$ towards me. Not much I could do but let off the brake as he hit me, hoping to lessen the impact...which knocked me sideways across the middle and left lanes and onto the left shoulder, facing traffic!

His car died immediately, felt like his car went under mine and I dragged his front bumper off when I shot forward. Not only is my rear bumper, trunk lid and right side rear tail light trashed but both rear fenders are wrinkled and the underside of my car is trashed to the back axle. My car is loud on acceleration but hella slow...the tailpipes are bent under the muffler and there is just a small crack for the exhaust to flow out of. It is freaking out my transmission with all the back-pressure, it keeps jumping between 3rd and 4th. :nervous2:

That will definitely buff out. I recommend Zaino. That guy Sal is a genius :xyxthumbs

If it doesn't work by hand, use a PC with an orange cutting pad.

Glad to see your safe.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that Scott. Glad you came out OK. Was there anybody else in the car with you?

I was the only one in my car. Not sure how I am going to get all my detailing stuff out of the trunk, going to take a crowbar to get it open and the box containing my pads and polishers won't fit though the rear seat pass-thru. Once I crowbar open the trunk, I probably can't drive the car.

Just glad to hear you're ok! I've been ran over a few times in the last few years and it's definitely a scary experience. If they total it, any frame damage or too early to tell? If they total it have you thought about what you might get or again too early?

Yeah thats what I am wondering; if the frame is bent. Total it and then buy it back from insurance and then part it out. Lol. Glad you were ok Scott. Suck you expecting it... I thought a bus was gonna rear end me at 40mph today, but luckily it didn't. :faint:

About how fast was the civic going?

With both rear fenders wrinkled plus what appears to be extensive damage under the car and to the exhaust system, it might end up being a total.

I'd planned on getting a new (well, newer) car in the spring, either a V6 Accord or maybe an '02/03 Maxima.

Danin Re-he has Allstate. Good insurance but slow to pay. 3rd time I've been hit by someone with Allstate, first two times it took forever to get a check or repairs.

The Civic was hauling butt when I noticed him, said he was going 40 mph but it was a lot faster than that. Probably 20-30 when he hit me. His airbags didn't deploy though.

If they total it, I am yanking my Pioneer HU and stuffing the factory Bose HU back in before the pick up the car.

Glad to know you're ok. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise, as you've been putting a lot of money in that car lately IIRC.

$1500 or so, and that doesn't count the 4 new tires that I got via nails and Discount Tire certificates. $400 worth of tires for $60 (cost of new certs).

Man Scott, that sucks big time. At least you walked away unharmed. What was the other driver? Young kid? Old lady?

He was under 21 but I don't know his age for sure. Licenses are different for those under 21, so that is how I know.

BigAl3-Ha! As if.

Don't even know if my car is totalled or not but the whole back end will need to be repaired, plus they will paint both rear doors to blend it in, plus whatever has to be replaced underneath the car too. Probably $3500 minimum in damage. Car is worth about $5000 since it has 163,300 miles on it.

Could you be a bigger a-hole?

Scott glad to hear that you are ok. Maybe a stupid question but is it assumed its totaled? Any thoughts on a replacement? Any of your supplies in the trunk get damaged? Didnt you have the Mona Lisa in there?

Ahhhhh welcome to the club there buddy!! Any questions on the 5th gens let me or PrinzII know!

Get a manual if you can!

If the car is a total, his insurance company doesn't have to cover a rental once they decide to total it, even if it is two weeks until I get a check so I may not get to be too picky.
