Yokohoma 520's eh? I may have to get some if I decide to keep my Toyota Rav4. Did you like them?

I like them. Good all weather handling too. Pretty quiet on asphalt but on some concrete serfaces, they can be a bit loud.

zoomzoom mazda5-one of my weekly regulars owns one of the largest law firms in Texas. :)

Just think scott, if you had zaino on that rear bumper the other car would have bounced off and exploded.

Really, its great that you're not hurt. I hope your neck doesn't start bothering you a week or so from now, that would stink!

Make sure your next car is black, keeps you in the detailing state of mind lol.

Good to see you are OK Scott! Glad noone was in the backseat!

Suprisingly, the passenger compartment was completely intact. Even the back doors still open. Probably helps that he went under my car instead of it being a direct hit. Sure messed up the underside of the car though.

I already got a call from his insurance and the guy who hit me pretty much echoed what I told them. I was told it appeared pretty cut and dried as to fault, so they were accepting fault on behalf of the driver. They told me to take or tow the car to the body shop of my choice for an estimate. Since I can't take off any more time from work, I'll call Mister Collision (best body shop I know of in the Dallas area) and have them tow the car to their shop. Once the estimate information is relayed to the adjuster, they can decide whether to repair or to total it, plus see about a rental. My insurance agent took a quick look and told me to start looking for another car. He noticed that the right rear tire was tilted in and also slightly to the left, so it appears the rear end is messed up as well. The exhaust is hanging to about 2" above ground in the middle of the car and there is definitely some exhaust noise coming from the front of the car.

My Dad dropped his '04 V6 Accord for me to drive until he and my Mom get back from a wedding in Iowa this weekend. That way, if my car is totalled, I can use the 4 days Allstate doesn't have to pay for a rental as leverage to get some extra time with a rental so I can use it to look for a car. Texas law states that once a car is totalled, insurance is no longer obligated to provide a rental car, even if a check hasn't been issued. What an idiotic law. At least if my car isn't totalled, I know it will be in good hands at Mister Collision.

Glad to know you are doing fine there Scott!

Good thing you saw it coming and was prepared for it. Something similar happened to me once, when a car was racing down a steep hill and I was a few feet from the base in slow traffic. I looked in the rear view, then looked at my surroundings and saw that I had nowhere safely to move out of the way. So I calmly turned to my wife and said...hold on, we're going to get hit. Traffic started to move a bit by the time she hit me and I had some maneuverable space and was able to avoid rear-ending the person ahead of me.

Anyways, good luck in your search for a "newer" car! Just think of the fun you'll have bringing it "up to code" :buffing:

Scott,

Sorry to hear about your accident...glad you're ok. I have to say, that is the best looking wrecked car I've ever seen. A lot of great reflections in the paint that wasn't damaged. :waxing:

Got my estimate on the car today from Mister Collision...he was already near $5000 and that was without knowing if there is any hidden damage. :nervous2:
