Will this buff out?

Scott-

I have a 91 Toyata Previa van with close to 285k miles and still runs and passes e-check.. I know they are not the coolest ride but they are built tough.. Find a supercharged one.. You should eb able to find a nice no rust one..

...they gave me a Mazda3 with the 2.0 (148 hp) and automatic. Not a bad car, decent acceleration for a small engine, gas mileage is definitely good. Excellent handling too. Cool purple background, red numbers and needles instrument panel and probably the best non-HID headlights I've seen. However, the trunk is pretty small, the carpet is crap (sort of like what most cars have in the trunk) that refuses to release debris and those cloth seats stain if you look at them wrong. Plus, I've obviously had reliability issues with me 626, so not likely I'd get another Mazda.

That's my biggest complaint with our Mazda3. I hate trying to vacuum it out. I know the chance of you going with Mazda again are slim to none, but you should really check out the hatchback version. With the back seats down, there is an ABUNDANCE of cargo room in the back. I've been amazed at how much we're able to put in the back. When we bought it, I wanted the sedan but since I got to choose the manual transmission, the wifey got to choose the number of doors. I'm so glad we didn't get the sedan. With two labs, the hatch has been great.

Scott, sorry to hear about your missfortune, hopefully everything will turn out for the best. As for cars, I can whole heartedly reccomend the 2003-07 Accords, the make very nice long distance commuters, and it is looking like you will be putting a lot of miles on. The manuals are a little more fun, and quite nice, but the automatic is smooth, and I have never had issues with it. Build quality is typical honda, nice ergonomics for the interior, and those little touches, like a recessed LED that illuminates the shifter area at night. Only complaints are the stock tires which are cushy, but don't grip too well, and a rather thick A pillar. Unless you really want the power, I would suggest the I4 instead of the V6. The 4 is sufficient for everything except stoplight drag races, it really never feels underpowered, and the maintenance is both easier and cheaper (and of course better mileage). Do get the leather, it is worth it. (I would reccomend heated seats if you lived in the northern reaches, but I'm guessing you would have less use for that one.)

Regardless, heal quickly, and best of luck finding a new car, also you should be able to negotiate the price of the settlement somewhat, and if not, you can always call in a favor with your lawyer friends.
