Tire finish, NOT high gloss!

I notice that the majority if not most of you guys like the "Real Shiny" tire cleaning solutions.

I really don't like that "Shinny" look at all!

I am looking for a tire solution that will produce the Soft/Matt finish. If you have experience with a product that will produce that look and last, I would really appreciate hearing about it.

I have only tried Eagle 1 product, but it "slings" and doesn't last hardly at all.

This is a new area for me (tires) and I know nothing!

Thanks, Changeling

Actually, most of us don't like the 'real shiny' tire gloss. Z16 is not that shiny, neither is Mothers FX (though I haven't tried it yet). A water-based dressing will be less glossy than silicone, in theory.

Not really. Most people here prefer a satiny tire finish.

Optimum Tire Shine is an excellent low/medium gloss dressing. First, clean your tires with a degreaser or dedicated tire cleaner. Then apply a few coats of the dressing, allowing it to soak in. OTS isn't really a wet looking tire dressing, although it has a dark, satiny finish. Pretty cheap($20 by the gallon) and lasts a week or two.

changeling, have you tried buffing off the excess after a few minutes?

I also use the EO dressing, but after a few mins I buff off the excess, and have no slinging and the finish isn't "too" shiny and have yet to have any slinging issues

Like you, i do not like shiny tires,my favourite dressings that look 'right' are Einszett tire foam,FK#108,and Duragloss#253;they are all great products.

I am using Optimum Tire Shine to clean the tire and dress.

I also like a deep, dark tire look not slick and wett looking. I use Sonus tire & bumper dressing. It gives good results i think you'd like it. Not slick or wet looking at all-very satiny.

I prefer a matte finish and thats why I use Z16. VRT is also pretty good and dries to a matte finish but I do not like that it is thicker and harder to apply and it does not smell as good. I lile to be able to spray it on the wheel wells.

Ehh, tires really need a good cleaner before dressing. But then again, dirty rubber is just one of my pet peeves. You would be surprised how much crap will build up in your tire in a relatively short period of time that cleaning with soap and water won't remove.

I know. When I use Bleach white the white turns brown. I do it once per year. Getting to old I guess. PLus I like ONR but cleaning the tires means getting a hose etc. Unless there is a better way??? Maybe?

You could use ONR to clean tires, too. It is better than nothing. Heh, I deep clean my tires 1-2 times a month and when I am not deep cleaning I am scrubbing like crazy with car wash soap.

Ive always enjoyed Mother's FX tire shine for its flat look.

My recommendation for a low, deep black goes to Mother Reflections. I find that their other line, FX tire shine, provides an initial medium gloss that dries to a satin gloss.

Armor All is what you are looking for it is cheap, you can buy it just about anywhere

and it sound like what you want!

if you don't like it it is only a few bucks and you can use it up on your fender wells.
