Banned from Autopia

Well, I was checking my emails this morning and tried to click on the Autopia forum and, to my surprise, I couldn't log in because I was banned. I have sent a message to the administrator to find out why I was banned, but I can't seem to think of any reason why.

Trying to retrace my steps, I don't remember insulting anyone or accusing anyone of anything. The only questionable thing I think I could have done is that I mentioned purchasing a few Poorboy's products at a really good price from a detailing site, but that site is one of their sponsors. Maybe they didn't like it because I didn't mention that in their "Good deals" section.

It's not too big a deal, since there are other detailing forums I can visit and I don't think I was exactly a huge contributor or anything. Still, it's a little frustrating to get treated like that after being a member for so long.:(

Update: This is just stupid. I get the message that I got banned and I'm told to "click here" to contact administrator to find out why I was banned. I leave a message asking why and I get a notice that the adminstrator is not accepting any messages from me. Talk about being excommunicated.:cursing:
 
I have not yet been banned, but I am getting really tired of the attitudes that prevail over there. It's a very worthwhile forum, but any more the usual crew is a pretty sanctimonious bunch. Lot's of back-biting and criticism. If I was a customer and read some of the detailing write-ups that call the owner a "slob" and other niceties, I would NEVER use that detailer again...or anyone else that chimed in. It's like they don't realize that these forums are where some owners get leads for people in there area. I visit that forum maybe once a week and I'll eventually stop most likely. It's one thing to have an opinion - it's quite another to bash someone because you had to do extra work on a car or to bash someone for their opinion.

I like it here. :cornut:
 
Edited -No Personal Attacks- He suspended me once and banned me a second time. Granted the second time was probably warranted, the guy I was having a pissing match with said much worse things to me, than I did to him. I just sent him a link to a gay Hungarian site over PM! LOL

In any event, I'm pretty much banned everywhere I go, except here and MOL, so you get used to it after a while!!! :D:D:D

I remember reading about that. At least you knew exactly what happened and why. I have absolutely no idea what happened, but I might soon.

About the gay Hungarian site deal, I guess I shouldn't think it's funny being in the age of political correctness and all, but I can't help it!:devil:

Termigator, I just checked Autopia, and it said that you were online. I presume that your banning was a big misunderstanding or perhaps a system glitch.
 
I had to edit a couple posts and delete one of them.

Listen I agree with what some of what has been said, trust me, I have every reason to, but cannot allow personal attacks regardless.

Term, I'm sure it will get worked out for you! If not PM Pat300ZX is a his GREAT guy, a good friend, and a mod over there. He might be able to help out.
 
Thanks Todd. He already contacted me through AG. He's looking into it as we speak. If it doesn't work out, that's fine. I'm not going to lose sleep over it.Sleep

I hope so. They have cool chart comparing the level of cut between the different brands of polishes. I had just recently bookmarked it and was going to study it later. :D

I do not believe that chart is the property of autopia (unless it is a different one.) you have a pm

Is it possible you registered two user accounts from the same computer? Some forums consider that grounds for banning and it's sometimes it's done automatically - caught by a web crawler or search bot without human interaction.
 
Thanks for everyone's support. I'm back online at Autopia.
I was told that my IP address was banned, not my account and all I had to do was turn my modem off and turn it back on again. I did exactly that it did the trick.
I don't know exactly what all that means or how I got dragged into the whole deal concerning the IP address and stuff, but it would have been nice to have been notified of the problem instead of me having to rant at other forums to get matter resolved.:cursing:
 
Well, I still look at Autopia some, but I doubt I'll ever post there again. I did make some good friends from there - like Todd, David Fermani, Bryan B, Doug, Ryan and a few others. But there's a few that have no real value and seem to be on line all the time, parroting away advice. I left after TH was banned. And from e-mails I had from other folks, I wasn't alone. I think there's a wealth of talent on TID and so much less drama! Heck, if want drama - go to lawnsite.com (my failed attempt at being a LCO).
 
We welcome everyone from all over the world here, the great thing about this Forum is we all here to learn and help each other out and also for the newbies to learn the right way in doing things in the world of detailing! Dude,

I used to bust Todd's chops on Autopia and on MOL like no other. Heck I was busting them on this site, over PM a few days ago!

Actually, he has helped me a lot with an upcoming detail using BF Wet Diamond.

There were a lot of good posters at autopia (Weekend Warrior - a personal favorite of mine) and there continues to be, although it does have way too much drama and Hungarian porn! LOL

It could mean that someone ghosted your IP addy and was doing something like attempting to spam the site, create a DoS attack, or create a backdoor port or account that would allow the offender to bypass security protocols while securing admin rights. Our network spooks see it all the time through packet analysis on the LAN that I admin.
