Because this car is silver, NO product/panel looks any different from the next. Darker colors would show *maybe* more of a variance. There's not a doubt in my mind that ALL sealants are still intact and protecting the finish. Each one beads similar and isn't allowing dirt to stick any more than the other. I can't help to mention that I've been watching Zaino(it directly in the path of my vision while driving) and during a rain storm, the beads of water fly off the *hood* much faster/different that Jeff Werkstat. I can't determine that this difference gives an edge to the competition without seeing more time pass.

And the Zaino and Werkstatt products are at a dissavantage since they are on the hood that gets heat from the engine and faces into the weather going down the road.

Can you explain how sealants are directly affected by heat, air & water?

Keep in mind that each product is also on the fenders.

That's too bad jetseal is on the roof where you can't really see how well it beads/ sheds water.

I am a big carnauba guy and jetseal is really the only sealant I would ever use on my own black (no metallic) car.

But, even though it is on the roof where it doesnt have a good chance to show it's beading, I still think the jetseal will win this test :)

6 Weeks already???

Looking forward to the next update - this should be when the differences in product abilities and longevities start to show their strengths and weaknesses.

Keep up the outstanding work ---- and thank you for your incredible efforts.

Can't wait to see the nest update.

Good work DF, I dont know if I could stand to have that many different sealants on my car, let alone, not applying anything in 6 weeks. :thumbsup

Are you using dawn to wash? What soap?

I want to know what protects longest so I don't have to apply for as long as possible! :getdown

Zaino is pretty heat resistant. Good for about 600 degrees F (IIRC).

The one that protects the longest is the one with the longest lasting UV protection. I doubt that you can really test that. You'd have to ask for data from the manufacturer.

Nope, not Dawn. I've been using Wash & Wax from Auto Magic. Does anyone think the results could be squed with this type of product? Any opinions or recommendations.

If the wash contains a wax then it will definitely add protection giving a false reading. You need to use a soap without wax additives.

Get some Megs #00 Hi-Tech Wash. It's the only car shampoo I know of that doesn't leave anything behind.

As soon as I saw the beading and the relative uniformity of beads from panel to panel, I suspected that something may be affecting the different sections uniformly.

I am not familiar with AM W&W, if I may suggest, I would switch to a soap that has little to no glossing/protective/wax/polymer properties. However, I dont necessarily know which soap would be the best.

I'm sure that if the W&W left anything behind, it wouldnt last too long, so as long as you switch soaps, it shouldn't skew the results too significantly.

Did you leave any paint sections uncoated, as a control? If so, do they reflect similar beading charecteristics as the rest of the paint?

The center sections of all the horizontal panels have no protection and are beading similar to the protected panels. Very good point, I'm glad this was brought up.

David, I went back and read your take on ease of application and initial looks. But one thing you can't tell from a picture is how slick does the paint feel. Back in the old days, I loved how slick the paint was after workin off a few pounds doing Turtle Wax paste. Back then, cars had enough steel in them that I didn't care if a young lady sat on my fender or hood, I got a kick when they slid off and commented on how great that wax was and looked. Now I'm pushing 50 and I still like a paint to feel slick, and hoping one of the kids' ##&%$@# cats will break his friggin neck sliding off the top!

Ultima PGP is really slick, though it isn't really in full gear until about three coats spaced 12 to 14 hours apart. I get a lot of comments on feel and slickness. Holds well over time too.
