Zaino still the best stuff?

It's been a while since I've been very anal about keeping my car well kept... I have been using Meguiar's NXT liquid wax on my cars and it does a decent job... It's been so long since I've used Zaino I can't remember the results.

Anyhoo.... I'm going to be getting (this week) a BMW M3, jet black with a black interior. I'll probably condition the leather with Lexol, then do the rest of the interior with Armor All. I was thinking to use NXT again, but like I said since I've been out of the game for so long... I want it to look NICE, so any ideas?

I want the jet black of the car to show thru and thru, glossy and shiny.... is Zaino still worth it? I recall it being pretty pricey and a lot of work, so I am not 100% :)

Thanks for any help!

Well, sure Zaino is still great stuff! With Z2PRO and the new Z5PRO on the way, it is probably better now than when you last used it. It will surely outlast the NXT, and there is no doubt Z is one of the clearest, glossiest and shiny products out there. I think Z5PRO or Z2PRO would make a black M3 look amazing. However, looks are so subjective from one to the next. It's hard/impossible for me (or anyone else here) to tell YOU what kind of shine that YOU prefer on your car. Know what I mean? ;)

There are a lot of products that would looks nice on black, but it depends on how often you want to maintain the shine and the type/level of protection you desire.

I am truly biased in this area because I have had favorable results with the Zaino system.

Keep this in mind though...

How many companies continuously update their products for ease of use, durability, shine, and overall value as the technology becomes available? THIS, is one of the main reasons I keep coming back to Z.

How soon is soon? :) I can wait a little bit... :)

There's another thread about this, but apparently it's already out. If you order Z5, you will get the Pro, but in the old Z5 bottle. They are just using up all the old labels, I guess.

I'm afraid I'm with Sean on this one. But you may want to try the new EX-P topped with Natty's Blue..

and I forgot to mention, I find that Zaino looks deep, and wet on all colours of cars I do. You may do a search and see, there are certain polishes that you look good only on certain colours. That's not the case with Zaino.

I beg to differ. I think there are many colors which Zaino looks AWFUL on. I've seen some colors look like plastic after Zaino application. Then again, this is just my personal opinion and really the whole process of choosing LSP revolves around personal opinion.

I always try to stay away from the whole "best" product debate as my tastes in products differ from others at times. But I will say that Souveran Paste Wax would my 1st choice for any & all black paint.

Asking if Zaino is "still the best" is sort of a loaded question. To some people, it always has been and possibly always will be. To others, it never was before and probably isn't now. There aren't many detailing products that create the kind of division that Zaino seems to create.

to clarify IMO on some colors Z2pro can be too reflective and you lose the ability to see the true color. Someone expressed this about black mettallic and I've seen the same thing on my navy blue mettallic. Hopefully Z5Pro will look better on the dark mettallics.

If you don't mind waxing every 4 or 5 weeks them Souveran Paste Wax to me is the way to go. Be sure you have a good polished surface (I use Men. PO85RD) then RMG Red Moose Glaze X 2 and then Souveran Paste Wax X 2 or 3. Give the wax 24 hrs apart to cure and harden. Awesome!

I like my Z2Pro, but I like Menzerna's FMJ better...and it's about 1/10 the price when you consider I get WELL over 100 applications from a 32oz bottle of FMJ.

IMO FMJ is much slicker then Z2.

Gloss / Shine / Depth, etc is very subjective. If that is the most important to you, then you need to find a product to your liking. DO you like an oily wet finish? Do you like a more natural paint like finish?

It's all a trade off. I have used zaino on many cars and keep going back because of it's durability and ease of use / maintanance. I want the most protection I can get on my daily driver against water spots, airborn contaminants, and UV, especially since I don't have the time to detail that I did a few yrs ago. Wash after wash, it retains it's slickness and gloss. I also like that it works as a system so there is no guessing as to which products are or are not compatible.

Have to agree with ^ DetailKing.

Zaino retains that freshly *detailed* look the longest and if I feel the slickness is down slightly, a quick spritz of Z6 or Z8 takes care of that in a hearbeat.

I'm biased as I have been using Zaino since 2003.

Zaino-made from the best stuff on earth...

Much of appearance can be subjective but in my experience the clarity and wetness of a properly prepped surface and Zaino Z2Pro or Z5Pro and ZFX is really unbeatable on silver. I have yet to find something as durable as Zaino but it's the looks that keep me returning after trying new products. :)

When considering ease of use, durability, and shine altogether then zaino is probably the best. However, if you want to try a couple different products, I believe you can get better durability and better overall appearance. For durability Klasse SG is unmatched and a quality carnauba like souveran will lave a much more impressive finish than zaino.

I just used zaino again for the first time in many months on a purple 350z per the customer's request. The car was shiney, but it had nowhere near the depth of the carnaubas I am used to. I had about 5 or 6 coats of z5 and z2 pro on it and it was still no match for a single application of souveran. I suppose it is subjective, but I really prefer depth over pure shine.

EDIT: My above post relates mainly to darker colors. On lighter colors like silver, Zaino and pretty much any sealant for that matter will look great untopped.
