Today's Detail v.Pink Wax update, Menzerna PO85RD, FMJ

03COBRA

I miss my 03 Cobra......
Well today I paid a little visit to my Aunt's early 90's Accord again. I was going over there to check on the durability of the Wolfgang/Natty's combo that I had put on 3 months prior.

I got started by washing the car, absolutley nothing left as far as beading or sheeting. The water just sat on the car and didn't budge. The car has only been washed 3 times in 3 months, and the car is garaged. So I was a little bit surprised that the WG/Natty's was gone, nothing left. I was expecting maybe a smidge of protection left, but nothing.

I was sent a sample from another member of the Menzerna PO85RD, from their Ceramiclear line of polishes. So I decided to try it out on this car. I had previously polished it out with FP II, 3 months ago and was blown away with the results. Today with using PO85RD, I was even more impressed with the results. For any of you that are FP II fans, you should give PO85RD a try, it has a touch less bite, but a 5 on gloss instead of 4 for FP II. This was also my first experience with FMJ. The stuff is amazing, very easy on and off. Never used anything easier to apply or remove!

My Process:

--Wash w/Poorboy's Super Slick & Suds

--Menzerna PO85RD via PC and a 6.5" Meguiar's polishing pad on 5

--FMJ x2 by hand w/PakShak yellow foam applicator

--Poorboy's APC (10:1) on wheels, lower panels, well

--Poorboy's BnB on tires, trim

Now to the Pink wax update. I polished using FP II about 6 weeks ago, and topped with Pink Wax, no sealant. It has been thorugh a couple of rain storms, and a lot of morning dew. The car is outside 24/7, no garage for this car. The beading is still evident, but not as strong as original. But however, the sheeting action is as strong as the day 1.

Where's my shades? I'm gonna try some of that.

I would highly recommend it. I went in half on a bottle with another member on here, and I am more than happy. The PO85RD is incredible, and the FMJ is just perfect!:D

Yes Jay I am, now you see why I was so happy when I used it! I don't know how it will work on SS paint, but if it's anywhere near as good as CC paint, you will be more than happy!

Hey Jay, instead of AIO>ME, maybe PO85RD>ME. :D

Man what a combo on that Accord!

The paint is just dripping with a ton of color depth.

The Pink Wax is still glowing too.

Nice work all around :)

PS - I gotta get you hooked on some GR-40 for the trim. The stuff is top notch!

there you go, now add it on :p

i thought that most honda paints were ss. Is that SS or BC/CC? i tried it on my TA and it didnt come out like that. It could have been cause i used AIO after the PO85. Ill try topping it right after instead of using a cleaner polish.

Mike: Thanks:D I think Scott might be proud that there atleast 2 of these around that people still want to make beautiful!

Sean: What is GR-40? Where can I get it? This trim is a pain, it fades fast, I'd rather just replace it!

It has a CC. And it has been a long road to get it where you see it now. This thing had a ton of swirls when I first worked on it! I don't know about single stage, to be honest , SS paint scares me a little! Here is what I started with!

I understand why people would say that you would not want to layer waxes more than twice, but I'll tell you that my girlfriend's Sienna with Natty's x 3 and 1 coat of #16 is so slick I can't help but feel it every time I walk by. The difference is so great compared to other cars that even she is impressed. Nowadays she points out cars that are dirty and wants hers kept clean all the time. :)

So what I am trying to tell you is that do it over and go back there once a week for several weeks and layer that Natty's or any other wax and you will be very impressed and will last alot longer. :D

First coat of Natty's went on:

11/07/04

second coat

11/21/04

third coat

12/01/04

#16 went on

12/22/04

last wash

2/09/05

These are also the only times the car was washed.

That honda looks amazing! (both cars) Excellent details my friend.
