Today's Detail v.Pink Wax update, Menzerna PO85RD, FMJ

do you know the price (from Menz and CMA), size for PO106?

Have you used it before? How does it compare with IP?

Hi JMSC,

From Menzerna USA you have to make a $50 minimum order. So that is where it gets tricky from Menzerna. The PO106 is $39.95, and PO85RD is $34.95, both only come in 32oz. From CMA they are $10 more per bottle, but I don't think there is a $50 minimum order, if so the PO106 would take care of that!

PO106 is not an equivelent to IP. IP is a heavier cut polish for more defects and swirls. PO106 is more like a #80 or and SSR2. It will remove a good amount of swirls, but leave an incredible finish that you can go straight to your LSP! He are some links that you can get some more info on the 106/85RD:

I am not sure if this is even possible but has anybody used a clearcoat measuring guage and compared how much cc is removed with the ceramic polish compared to the IP/FPII? Are we sure that this new polish is not removing excessive cc?

I would say that you could polish anything at least 50 times with Menzerna products with the exception of PG and maybe IP, and never hit primer. Menzerna would have no reason to not give accurate cut numbers. IP cuts more than the ceramiclear polishes, I'd bet good money on that. If the new polishes had more cut, there would be no way they would have that finish, it would have hazing instead. I have polished cars 3 times a years for 10 years with no problems with menzerna and other light cut products. You can get a cheap paint guage at detailplus.com, 49 bucks but a digital will cost a lot more, but is a better product. I will remind you of this link that was giving to me by another Autopian. Take notice that even after using DACP, there was no change in the PG thickness reading.

A side note, obviously the cars I polished for 10 years didn't have CC but the paint thinkness was probably at the same as modern paint. You might end up polishing your CC away with 50 polishes but you would still have your base paint left. I have polished cars many times since they started clear coats and the paint jobs still look fantastic, but I'm not sure how much CC is left, if any. Anything is better than swirls on dark colors.

If the clear coat is gone, you will know. The base coat is pretty dull without the clear over it.

Most clear coats are 1.5-2 mils thick...and that is not thick! You get a cc down under 1 mil and you lose the UV protection. Don't worry, it would take some serious long term heavy polishing with a PC to get to that point. A rotary, however....

Bump...

PO85RD and PO106 via PC.... That's peculiar.

I heard that PO85RD and PO106 can only break down Properly via Rotary.

04Cobra,

I know this is abit late but i just saw your thread today. You Did a Phenomenal restoration job on the Honda. Super Reflective! Lots of color

About how ling did it take to work the PO85RD Polish in Via PC?

Is this a miracle or can i expect great results with PO85RD and a PC as well???

Thanx. My compliments.

Thanks for the nice words mystic!:D

I myself was blown away by the results of PO85RD. I am by no means at the level of a lot of people on this board, so I know I don't have any special tricks up my sleeve. This is by no means a miracle, if I can do it, so can you! I work the product until it starts to diappear a little. I don't let it totally, but I also don't just run one pass and remove with an MF. In my experience, a PC is enough machine for this polish, and I am always impressed with it. The stuff just spreads and spreads, better than FP II. On a red color like this Honda, I'm not sure PO85RD/FMJ can be beat!
