Time To Try a Diff Tire Dressing

I been using and OTC dressing, Black Magic Matte Spray. The durability has been great and it doesn't slight. Most importantly, it's very easy to use.



I use to use Black Magic Wet Gel. Although it looked awesome and no slights, it's so hard to use. Very Very greasy and it just makes the foam applicator super hard to clean (i end up tossing). After 2 uses, I trashed the Wet Gel.



It could be that the Matte Spray is waterbased (not sure) but the foam applicator was much much easier to clean. Not as glossy as Wet Gel but ease of use trumps.



I am looking for something similiar (an alternative). Any suggestions?
 
I hate that greasy stuff, I never use it anymore. And I gave up cleaning tire applicators, I just use them untill they are too degraded or dirty and then toss them.



The water-based dressings don't last as long, but I've had good (acceptable?) results with the Zaino Z-16 (old version) and the Optimum tire dressing (old version). I'm currently working on using up the big bottle of Long Haul that I got at Big Lots for $2.29 or something (maybe it will be gone by the end of next year :rolleyes: ) but that stuff seems to have some small amount of oil or something, I get some browning on certain tires and if you get any on the wheels it leaves a white stain that takes some effort to get off.
 
Over the years, I've been more than pleased with Poorboy's Bold N Bright.

the "shine" can be adjusted from matte to too shiney for me

does not attract dust
 
Meg's HyperDressing diluted 4:1



Looks a LOT like Poorboy's BnB; but lasts about twice as long; though the Hyper is still water based.



Plus it looks good on hard plastic exterior/underhood trim as well.

That's the product and ratio I use. Hyper Dressing is great stuff that can be used at many dilution ratios for different looks (extreme shine all the way to matte look).



It also has a tendency to absorb and SPREAD evenly on its own. The stuff is magical. I use it on wheel wells and engine bays because you can just spray it and walk away. It will spread out on its own.



I absolutely, positively NEVER EVER get sling from it- either. Although, like others mentioned it is water based so if you get a lot of rain it will not last long.

+1... after trying countless OTC products, I decided to give Bold B Bright a try after some rave reviews and recommendations for it. To add to what Mr. Clean mentioned, I like the Pina Colada smell to it. I don't think I'll be switching to anything else anytime soon, although I'm curious about trying Zaino's offering.
 
Zaino Z-16 Perfect Tire Gloss and Poorboy's Bold n' Bright are my two favs! :2thumbs:

There's a "new" version? When did it change, and how can you tell the old and new apart? (ie. different smell, color?) :think:
 
I like the thick, greasy gel myself as the added durability outweighs the added wear on applicators for me. Pinnacle Black Onyx is my new go-to.



However, if you prefer a water-based product, Zaino Z16 is the best I have tried. Poorboys BnB is also a good product for a bit less than the big Z.
 
I use Z-16 because it produces a natural look and i get plenty of applications out of one bottle.



Poorboys Bold N Bright, also a great product I have used for 2 years or so. More glossy than a single application of Zaino Z-16.





I still prefer the old oil based dressings like Car Brite Blue Majic. It used to last through a blizzard. these water based dressings dont last long enough in my opinion. I get the whole product sling, and envoronment issues, but am considering going back to oil based tire dressings.
 
I also use Hyper Dressing but usually 3:1 for clients cars. I use Megs Endurance on the work truck because I dont get time to wash it often so I needed something that would last. Plus they both smell like wild grape.

I use Sonus's gel dressing and I avoid sling by allowing the dressing to dry on the tire over night. The next morning before work I buff off what's left and I generally don't have a problem with sling. I understand if someone is applying the dressing to a client's car, letting it sit overnight isn't an option.
 
I've been using Sonus tire and bumper dressing, apply a liberal amount then wipe off excess twenty minutes later. Looks great and have had no sling. It is fairly greasy but hasn't ruined my applicators.
 
CG Xtreme Shine..26 a gallon, which is not too too bad...great look for me, oil based, and i have never witnessed any browning, my tires get it every week..and no sling..i need not try anything else
 
I've been using 3M Tire Restorer for the last few months and have been very happy--but it is a matte finish--leaves the tire very dark but no gloss--no sling and lasts a few washes if used on a clean tire.
 
Z16 is tried and true (newer version came out a couple of years ago and is bubble gum scented). Lately, though, I've been using Satin Prot from Werkstat.
