Time To Try a Diff Tire Dressing

Zaino Z16 & Ultima Tire and Trim guard. Both yield good results and dries to a nice matte black finish. They both work better after a couple coats have been established. If you keep up on it, the dirt just washes away and you need very little product to get it back to full color.

I like them both too, but I bought the Ultima on a special sale. I don't know that I could normally justify the $48 for 12 ounces it costs vs the $12.95 for 16 ounces of Z-16.

I'll have to put the Griot's Rubber Prep for my next order from them, this is the first time I recall hearing about it.

I use Z-16 because it produces a natural look and i get plenty of applications out of one bottle.

Poorboys Bold N Bright, also a great product I have used for 2 years or so. More glossy than a single application of Zaino Z-16.

On the topic of newer versions of product, does anyone know if BnB was updated as well? I have a new bottle I purchased recently as my first bottle is almost gone. The old stuff had a kind of fruity scent not too different that then 'old' Z-16. However the new bottle of BnB I have smells more like ... coconuts? (kinda like the original EX-P scent, only not as strong).

Anyone else share this observation?

I don't know about any updating of BnB, but a quick PM to Steve should take the guesswork away. (Let us know what you find out.)

I just used my BnB Saturday, and completely missed noticing any scent. I'll have to check it out.

Griot's: Rubber Prep. The easiest and most complete rubber cleaning product I have used in 40 years. If you try nothing else new this coming year, give this a try. Rubber prep is essential for any tire dressing to work well and this product is easier to use then applying the dressing. Messy bucket washing your tires will become a thing of the past. :xyxthumbs

...

What is the difference between the Rubber Prep product and the Rubber Cleaner?

Without a doubt, my preference is Zaino Z16. Adam's VRT, Armor All Original, Robbie's Nu-Glo (local brand), and Meguiar's Natural Shine are also staples of my dressing arsenal.

Right now Danase has the gallon of Opt tire shine for $20

Yep, I hooked up with a gallon of that.:bigups First time trying it, but I took the plunge based on all the pretty much positive reviews.

Sorry Mr. Clean I can only assume the difference is concentration of cleaning agents and maybe application method. I have only used the Rubber Prep and it is fantastic in terms of removing all dressings and cleaning the rubber. The tire's appearance after using would probably negate the need for a dressing for all the "natural" rubber appearance Autopians. Complete tire cleaning with zero mess and odor takes about 1 minute per tire. No wiping, no residual and dries almost instantly. The amazing part is that when this product dries the cleaning is complete. No blotching and no scrubbing. Wipe on with a sponge and work into the rubber and allow to dry (~1 minute). New rubber!!!!! My estimate is that 16oz will last over a year maintaining 3 vehicles with several applications a month.

On the back-end there is savings on dressing usage. One light application usually will give a "show car" appearance with either Zaino Z16 or Griot's Long Lasting dressing.

E-mailing Griot's would probably be your best bet in getting a answer about the differences of these 2 products. Sorry I could not be of more help. Maybe some one who has used both products will chime in.

Happy Holidays everyone!!!!!!:wavey

It appears to me that the Rubber Prep is a solvent cleaner (wipe on) while the Rubber Cleaner is a detergent (spray on, scrub, rinse with water).

I've been using Adams VRT if I want a more Matte look or Stoners More Shine if I want to go glossy and avoid using an applicator. Both work great!

if i may... i just rec'd Z16... how do you guys apply your product.? a 4" foam applicator seems the logical choice??

I usually use an Eagle One tire swipe:

Tire Swipes

You can usually find them locally at places like Advance, AutoZone, etc.

I've read this thread and still don't know which dressing to order next. In the past i've used the otc Megs High Endurance, but that has slinged on me even after wiping off. That and it's extremely greasy. I want a dressing that will last close to two weeks or more. And something that doesn't look to oily, i like a matte finish. suggestions would be wonderful!
