Like I always say, no matter what product is loved by many, someone out there will dislike it with a passion, I don't care what product it is..PS I thought I might have had an issue with my Vics Red when I first tried it, I had a new one in the mail the next day..PPS A very nice wax in my tests.

Pinnacle XMT 180 Carnauba: 7/10. Easy to apply, looks good, smells great! Decent durability

I'm never all that interested in threads like this but I must say that this one has been, uhm...an interesting read.

Bence- I found your list interesting! A few Qs if I may:

-You listed Autoglym SRP as a product that you've used but you didn't rate it (so I assume you weren't too favorably impressed). Could you offer your opinion on it, and feel free to be ruthless ;)

-Have you ever tried applying FK100P over something like (well, to be specific) 1Z WaxPolishSoft? I'm wondering about bonding issues...

-Have you ever experienced pseudo-holograms with Collinite 476S?

Accumulator, the SRP is one of my faves, especially when I need a nice, slightly filling AIO which can be mildly correcting and at the same time functionally nonabrasive - all depending on application method. In fact, I'm using it since 1994 along with its compatriot Cutting Polish (called Paint Renovator now), EGP and Leather Care Cream. I even used them for repairing CDs & DVDs. SRP is a great base for other products too. They easily get a 9-9.5 and they are truly excellent products. FK215 beats it in raw corrective power, and OPS with the unique characteristics that it works without residue and is able to pick up the residue of Optimum Polish without removing. OPS has a more vibrant, deep clarity, but the SRP looks great too. I simply LOVE the appearance of EGP, as it adds a very subtle golden hue of the reflections. It's bright like a sealant, but also inviting and warm. It contains 1% carnauba, but this may be too little to look this good. On my Regency Red Daimler Double Six it looked just OK though, but that color wasn't as rich. It looks ace on the dark green Camry.

I've never tried WPS, because the local importer imports the consumer and the black pro stuff only - so no round metal pro bottles for us.

1000P is not that sensitive to bonding issues, but I haven't done exhaustive testing on top of wax based polishes and/or other waxes.

Yes, I encountered with pseudo-holos, but they were always very strange. It must have been some incompatibility issue, but it was never easy to explain. Sometimes it goes away with a simple rewipe with a towel only, sometimes it needs a QD. And in certain cases you just push the wax around on the surface - and when it does this, I strip it down with straight APC/IPA/prep solvent. Maybe it acts up only on top of a rather extreme silicone contamination and/or filling high viscosity oils.

Bence- Thanks for the reply.

I've posted before how I simply *love* SRP topped with Souveran on my Jag's Rhodium Metallic but I wondered what you thought of it. Autoglym stuff seldom gets much attention here at Autopia. I found your comparison with OPS very informative (and intriguing). Does the OPS do any concealing the way SRP does?

On the FK1000P/1Z WPS thing, I just might have to try it for myself, though I'd probably just do FK1000P over SRP instead.

My 476S pseudo-hologram experiences were when used with previously trouble-free penultimate products, no simple explanations :nixweiss Sigh....

The last time I got the pseudo-holograms, I had polished with SIP / 106, applied RMG, and then CMW. I am trying to note these things, so I can try to make rhyme or reason of all this.

Accumulator, properly worked OPS doesn't fill, although not intentionally. Optimum always focuses on defect removal and not on concealing. However, hand applied layers, thicker layers do have a relatively weak concealing effect.

Yep, I also experienced them with CMW and in one case with Victoria Cruising - exclusively on the side panels, while the Colly was hyperactive on the hood.

Bence- OK, I get what you're saying about the OPS not filling when used *properly*.

FWIW, I can appreciate the filling ability of SRP in some cases, although that might be an unpopular viewpoint here at Autopia. Makes me wonder how SRP topped with that B-H Auto Balm might work out

WeekendWarrior- Seems like a few people have gotten those with CMW (along with 476S).

Bilt Hamber recommends a polished, clean surface for best bonding and no topper for undisturbed protection. Other solvents may weaken the AB's layer. However they are working on an Auto Balm topper.

Current:

EGZVintage: 10/10 An excellent optical wax

Sonus: Carnauba Spritz: 9/10

for EGZs)

P21S Wax: 6/10 (a very good and competitive wax)

Mother's CG Wash: 10/10 (one of the best traditional washes for

waxed surfaces around)

Past Products

Zymol Field Glaze: 5/10 Mixed results despite high praise

EGZ Concours: 8.5/10 Outstanding and competitive results

Zaino sealant (z2): 3/10 Mixed results- shallow reflective quality

Meguiars DC 3: 5/10 Fair, not overwhelming

Mothers CG 3: 5/10

Cleaner Wax: 4/10 (extra 2 points if used with other methods)

Avoid:

Liquid Glass

Use too much and that happens with most products. Use less, apply to the whole car before removing. Took me a few tries to figure it out.

a few of my ratings, based on how I LIKE TO USE THEM AND HOW THEY SUIT MY REGIMINE :) Just because something is a 6 or 7 it still is a great product perhaps, but not ideally suited to my preferred ways of working...which is based on: speed and ease of use, looks, durability, cleanability, NOT value ;)

  • Collinite 845 9/10
  • FK1000 9.5/10
  • Opti-Seal 10/10
  • Ultima PGP 9/10
  • Collinite 476 6/10 - did someone say wax holograms ;)
  • Z-2 Pro 7/10
  • Z-CS 8/10
  • DG105 6/10
  • OCW v2 8/10
  • Jeffs AJT 9/10
  • Dodo Supernatural 8/10
  • Zymol Vintage 9/10
  • BH Auto Balm 7/10 - hard work but fills and hides like nothing else
  • FK Pink Wax 8/10

some great products but with advances in the WOWA technology last few years its really hard for me to see past these and the spray products in most cases these days....

What someone should get out of this thread...

1. Paint prep is key to good results

2. There is a good chance many products may satisfy you

3. Technique often determines the likelihood of a positive experience

4. Some can get very emotional over products
