Rate your current LSP arsenal

its been I believe November when I last applied wolfgang to my wifes car, and it still beads nice and tight. it was VERY easy to apply and super easy to wife off. wipe off was so easy.

on a side note I can't wait for my iphone to get here.....

Fuzion: 9.5/10: looks awesome, easy to apply, smells good, warm looking

CMW: 9.5/10: deeeeeeeeeeeep wet look. love it on blacks and reds. So underrated.

WG 3.0: 9/10: easy on/off, great sealant look, good durability, more "warmth" then Zaino. My favorite sealant

476: 8.5/10: like it better than 845 in terms of durability.

845: 8.5/10: great durability, slightly better looking then 476

Z5/Z2 pro: 8/10: love the durabilty and looks. hate the bonding and application issues.

Natty Blue: 7.5/10: very wet looking on darker colors, decent durability.

SSII: 7.5/10: brings out the flakes on light colors well. no durability

P21S: 7/10: similar feelings to SSII but like it a litle better on darker colors

OCW: 7/10:love using it after a wash as a booster, esp in the winter

EX-P: 6/10: I like the looks of EX better. easy on/off esp in the sun.

EX: 6/10: easy on/off esp in the sun. decent durability

KSG: 6/10: great durability. a real pain to work with. easy on but hard off.

Opti-seal: 5/10: never got it right. did I use too little? too much? not sure. brings out metallic flakes well.

Zaino Z2, Z5, Z-AIO all get a 10/10 (even mixing ZFX isn't hard)

Zaino Clear Seal 8/10

Collinite 476s 9/10 (not a great look on dark colors, but awesome on silver and gold)

Carnauba Moose Wax 9/10 (loses a little on durability, but pretty good)

Optimum Car Wax 8/10 (durability is the only deduction)

Dodo Supernatural 7/10 (great look, I have gotten streaking, and durability isn't great, and expensive)

1Z Glanz Wax 7/10 (looks great on dark colors, nothing special on lighter colors)

P21s original 7/10 (a winner in all categories but durability)

DuraGloss 501 10/10

Pinnacle Liquid Souveran 7/10 (not as good looking as the paste, and lacks durability)

Pinnacle Souveran Paste 9/10 (a slight deduction for price and durability)

Meguiar's 26 8/10 (loses a little bit for durability)

Meguiar's D151 6/10 (for me, this is the let down product of the year for last year...doens't cut as well as I thought from all the hype I was reading, and durability lacks)

Meguiar's M98, Premium Paint Protection 8/10 (great in every category but looks)

WW,

I highlighted 4 of your choices which are interesting too me. "Hyped" products generally turn me off but you are now one of two people I trust with this stuff to pump Z2. I may be forced into trying it but just for the record, even if I think it is the most amazing stuff ever, I'm not turning into a Zaino nutbag!

Supernatural - Yet another!

Duragloss - You give it a 10/10 and give us NO explanation??? I went to Napa today to get some and they don't carry it in igloo-land.

D151 - I have another thread going regarding D151 a white civic and 476s, maybe you can chime in on your thoughts.

Two things...

1. I'm a hack, not a detailer! LOL

2. I tried VC Red twice. First time I put it on, let is sit and removed it. That was totally wrong and I got seriously chastised by a VC Rep. It was like taking dry cement of a tile. So, the second time I tried it as per the proper directions and I still thought it stunk! LOL

Maybe it is time to have the product returned for a refund. You seem to have found a number of products that work well for you. About being seriously chastised, I think it was more of trying to understand what went wrong and fixing the problem.

Carnauba Moose 9.5/10-easily my favorite all around LSP. Looks incredible on dark colors, excellent depth even on light colors. Durability is as good as many sealants I've used.

Opti-Seal 9/10 excellent look, incredible ease, decent durability. Really clear wet look.

Wolfgang Fuzion 9/10-really suprised how much I like this wax. I'm not one to buy into the value of spending $$$ on a wax but this one really delivers. Jaw dropping appearance on red, doesn't have the depth and blackness of CMW on jet black but excellent on metallic black.

Optimum Car Wax 8.5/10-amazing look and slickness. Durability is a bit less than the three above but as easy as it is to use, that isn't a real big deal.

Meguiars NXT2 8.5-my favorite OTC product. Rich, nearly carnauba look and excellent slickness. Minor filling ability too.

That's about all I am using regularly right now.

Dude,

Are you like the Victoria Wax police?

I gave my opinion, which I qualified as "a hack" and I think your product stinks. Why do you feel the need to defend it, I'm one tiny fish in a HUGE pond. Get over it. I'm a lawyer, not a detailer and I think you make crappy wax and if you think stalking my opinion on the internet is going to change that, then you're going to end up with a post like this where people will read me write that your wax is priced about $76 too much and I think I saw it for 75 bucks! Not many at Autopia take me seriously, but now that you've stalked me on forum number two, not too many are going to take you seriously either.

Is that response better?

Meguiar's #21 - 8.5/10 (looks good, easy on/off, excellent slickness, durability is decent)

Collinite 476 - 9.5/10 (high marks on durability alone, but can be tough to buff off)

Collinite 845 - 9.0/10 (Better looks than 476 but just short on the durability)

Optimum Opti-Seal - 9/10 (easiest on/off, topped over 845 :2thumbs: )

PB Natty's Blue - 7/10 (easy on/off, low durability, adds depth but mutes my Daytona Blue Z)

P21S 100% - 9/10 (easy on/off, decent durability for beauty wax, excellent LSP for my Daytona Blue Z :getdown )

Adam's Buttery Wax - 6/10 (mediocre overall)

Mother's Reflections Car Wax & Top Coat - 6.5/10 (pretty good for an OTC combo)

I hope by the end of the summer to be have some opinions to offer. At the present my experience is fairly limited. Quite frankly, I seem to like every wax I have tried on my black S2000, and since I have never done a side-by-side comparison, it really is hard for me to compare waxes. I will rank them in order of personal preference, but I find it impossible to offer good reasons or descriptions. I suspect that will always be the case. I have been a single malt drinker for a long time now, but I have a hard time describing why I like one over another. All I know is that Oban has been my favorite scotch for a very long time, but Ardbeg is coming on strong. But back to waxes:

Mother's Reflections (clarity and depth)

Collinite 845 (excellent durability, nice look)

NXT (very shiny, great reflections)

Megs' Gold Class (I don't remember a lot about it, but my car looked good)

(You will notice I haven't used the word "wet." I haven't figure out what exactly that means.)

But my new favorite is Harly Wax. It comes in a big tin (14 oz), which allows one to put the entire foam pad into it. One or two twists and the wax melts into the pad and then onto the paint. I waxed the entire car, and by the time I finished the last panel it was ready to be removed--no problem at all. I really enjoyed applying and removing this wax. Appearance--I like the warm, deep look. No streaking problems at all. Reputedly it does not stain trim, though I have not tested this. For the money ($19 per tin, plus shipping), Harly Wax is an excellent wax. I'm surprised it receives so little notice. I do not know yet anything about its durability, but based on what I have read I would guess that a coat will last 4-8 weeks. If I didn't already have too many waxes, I'd be tempted to oder myself a couple of more tins just to hoard up for the future.

I am sure I will have several new favorites before the summer is out. I have several fine waxes to try out. I hope that I will discover that there really is a difference, at least I difference I can see, between the inexpensive waxes I have been using so far and the boutique waxes I have added to my collection over the past few months. We shall see. It's quite possible that I will never see an appreciable difference between them. Perhaps I will always be a wax peasant.

Cheers,

Al

I still use it occasionally but I have so many different LSPs that I can't possibly use them all regularly.

I'd give Acyrlic Jett a 9/10. Top notch product, excellent durability. It definitely has its own look that does show up even in pictures.
