Paint Leveling with HD UNO

I did a little test on a car the other day: used MF 5" pads, one was M105/300 and the other was UNO. The 300 clearly helped the M105 from dusting but the UNO was just better, it finished better and faster. I primed both pads with a thin, very thin coat, with the Megs - I used 300 to prime, the UNO was like a lotion and spread easily on the MF pad. After every panel I cleaned the pad with compressed air. Then added a couple dime size dots.

Tip - I found that if you use too much UNO, (not that I would "ever" do that..choke!) just lift the buffer, clean the pad, go back and work the area again - do not add more product.

Oh - and I found with the PCXP, I'd start with speed 3.5-4 and bump to 5, never went past speed 5, and my hands felt the difference later that day.

Lastly, I didn't use much pressure -maybe 5-8 pounds and tried to keep the pad flat.

Seems like everone is extremely satisfied with Uno 3.0... Sadly I got 2.0 and no matter what I do, it doesn't want to remove easily. No one from 3D replied to my message, is Ben off on vacation now? He usually gets back within a day.

Hey Luke, Just got back from a nice holiday weekend. Will respond to your email and pm by tomorrow. A lot to catch up on! Thanks for being patient.

Opps. Forgot it was a long weekend down there!

I just received my Uno & Poxy last week, I am not sure I have V3. it doesn't have the 3 after the O and there is not date that I can find.

You'd want a cutting and a finishing pad at least, but seeing that you have a black 911, a white pad should be used in between as well.

Thank you. Any brands better, like LCC? I am also concerned that the GC might be to large (6"). Should I reconsider machines? How about I just bring my car to you..LOL

So can you use HD UNO instead of 105/205? It looks like it took it down real good. Or do you use UNO then POXY?

Yes, I did it myself and I had no problems. Make sure you work the HDuno with cutting pad, polishing pad and finishing pad, I never go over 1500 rpm and then I finish up with a pc and HDpoxy. I also like the HDuno more than 105 because it does not powder.

The only cutting pads "I" don't care for are the ccs pads. Otherwise LC or Meg's pads are all fine. You can get a 5" plate for the GG pc. Where are you?

Is it because of the foam-type or the dimples?

tdekany,

Just to confirm you use HD Uno with all 3 pads then Sealant or wax?

It all depends. On a black car the extra step is beneficial. Afterwards, you can use your wax or sealant.

If that doesn't work, I can always do it for you. How old is it?

Nice thread Barry :up ... Out here in Vegas, i get alot of light scratches from customers that wipe their car down with dusters.. using HD Uno with the orange pad followed by the blue on my pc then add the poxy after makes my job very easy.

DeWalter, Are you coming to the Hall-of-Fame detailing seminar from Vegas? I will be there... I think it will be a great show.
