Paint Leveling with HD UNO

Barry, want to send me out a sample of the new version to try? :)

I still have the original stuff and I was not all that impressed by it...it was a bear to remove.

Kevin, it is a seminar. Look on the bottom of any page for more info.

Oh, yes... :tape2:

The Hall of Fame thing threw me off.... then I speed read "from Vegas" for "in Vegas", and I thought a Hall of Fame Seminar, which I never heard of, was taking place in Vegas. :tsk:

Thank you! :tea:

Hi Kevin,

the free seminar and party is at 3D's factory in Santa Clarita California. It is on the 25th June from 10 am-4pm. They also have an after party.

I did a little test on a car the other day: used MF 5" pads, one was M105/300 and the other was UNO. The 300 clearly helped the M105 from dusting but the UNO was just better, it finished better and faster. I primed both pads with a thin, very thin coat, with the Megs - I used 300 to prime, the UNO was like a lotion and spread easily on the MF pad. After every panel I cleaned the pad with compressed air. Then added a couple dime size dots.

Tip - I found that if you use too much UNO, (not that I would "ever" do that..choke!) just lift the buffer, clean the pad, go back and work the area again - do not add more product.

Oh - and I found with the PCXP, I'd start with speed 3.5-4 and bump to 5, never went past speed 5, and my hands felt the difference later that day.

Lastly, I didn't use much pressure -maybe 5-8 pounds and tried to keep the pad flat.

UNO and the Meg's MF pads rock! Did a black Porsche and it eat throught the defects.

Great thread Barry.

Wow - Mr Fermani - thanks for confirming, it's nice to hear you like this combo too! I ordered another quart last week. I guess I'll be

selling/trading my old stuff.

DeWalter, Are you coming to the Hall-of-Fame detailing seminar from Vegas? I will be there... I think it will be a great show.

Hell yeah, The 3 1/2 hour drive will be worth it to learn some tips from these guys, there work is amazing and it would be good for me to improve my skills. I already like the uno and poxy their my go to products. Cant wait im really looking forward to this show.

Dewalter make sure you stop by and say hi to me! It would be nice to shake your hand and meet ya! Looking foward to it!

I am a little confused. Why does the HD Uno only have 1 polishing pad? tdekany said I should use Orange, white then Red with the HD Uno. What if I went with the HD pads, there is only 1 color??? Sorry for the noobie questions.

You can use any pad with UNO. 3D does have wool, and blue finishing pads.

In most cases, an orange pad will do the trick, UNO will finish down that well, but not always.

Ok, I have been on the site for some time and really love the tips and tricks with new products. When Menzerna came out everyone jumped on, then the M105/M205 and we also had M83 followed up with 3M Finesse It and I liked using all of them. I think what I mean to say is you all have found great products that achieve great result and the market is constantly evolving. I will be ordering the UNO/POXY combo tomorrow.

I have been surfing the forum for sometime, and finally decided to join after finding the HD Uno. I just ordered the Uno and the Poxy deal this evening, so hopefully it will work for me as well as it has worked for so many of you.

One of the more important aspects of UNO for me is the look it leaves behind. To my eyes it looks "creamy" - the only way I can describe it. Best looking polish in my eyes.

Thomas

I have enjoyed your write-ups and details. I have been happy with using a rotary and various products. I am looking forward to using my DA again without the fear of burning the paint and still achieving great results. I placed my order a few minutes ago and have an 06 Black Yukon Denali coming in to try it on

I have an older version- maybe 1. I got it at SEMA about 2 years ago when a 3D rep came out to a detail workshop I attended. I'll have to get the new version.

I used it today on horrid condition black Chevy truck. I did not want to overly attack it so I went with Griots on 5 and a burgandy cutting foam pad. It took 2x per panel, but made it 90% or so better. I think sanding would be the only way to get it 100%, or wool and rotary, but since the customer was thinking wash and wax, I kept it there. I followed with yellow foam and 205. Like others stated, the blackness did look creamy...like a glow to it.

I want my MF discs to work for me so I'm going to keep playing with them, but for now and for most cars, I am going to get the new version with 4" burgandy pads.

If anyone has a good source for a pneumatic sander, please share. I have the paper and innerface pads, but no sander yet.
