Here are two results I got from the Prime-Strong and AJ-T combo. I am an amateur and slightly noobish in car detailing. I don't use PC (yet). Do you guys think I'll get more wetness topping with carnauba?

Damn that is hot stuff, very clean and wet. I asked the question about topping with a carnauba and most people in this thread do not recommend it. See above posts.....

The reason behind not topping AJT or other sealants with a carnauba is because after every wash you can not simply refresh the LSP with a squirt on a panel. You would be committed to using the carnauba you topped it with from then on.

What is interesting is that Poorboys EX-P? sealant is designed with carnauba topping in mind.

^yup, i have recemtly started using duragloss aw in between washes .. i also have S100 that I have not used since I started using JW products. I used to use NXT and S100, while it gives great looks, it simply doesn't last that long. JW products have been great in the durabiliy and wetness..

One product line that intrigues me are the collinite waxes. It gets great reviews here for durability.

Yeah - I've used all of the products you've mentioned (Werkstatt, Duragloss, NXT, S100 and Collinite - as well as several others like Klasse and Zaino) - and out of all of those Werkstatt is my pick for the best combination of looks, durability and price.

S100/P21S and NXT look great (and have some ability to hide swirls) but are not good on durability. The NXT also stains trim like no one's business.

Collinite and Duragloss 105 are both very durable, look great and are well priced - but I prefer the Werkstatt look. I do use Collinite 845 IW on my wife's van and I use Duragloss AW on everything. An extra selling point for Collinite 845 is that it contains oils and fillers and does a pretty good job of hiding minor swirls/marring. Werstatt, Zaino, Klasse and Duragloss do not hide marring at all. If you need something that will hide swirls, then Collinite is probably the all around champ for looks, durability and price.

Klasse is durable and well priced but doesn't compare to Werkstatt in looks IMO.

Zaino may be the best looking product out there and is incredibly durable, but is not as reasonably priced as Werkstatt.

Thanks for the feedback.. Zaino is in my sights too. It really intrigues me how the Zaino zealots are so passionate about the line. I might try that next after I finish my JW bottles.

Thanks for this information. I just got some Collinite yesterday, and been wanting to use it. So would you say Collinite would be a good choice for someone who doesn't want to pay for 3 or 4 step restoration? I could use a light swirl remover then top w/ Collinite. Thanks!

Yeah - Collinite is great for a car where doing full corrective work with polish/PC is either not practical or not possible.

Collinite also works very well in tandem with the 1Z Extra and Paint Polishes for doing corrective work/polishing by hand. Polish with the one or more of the 1Z polishes by hand and then top with Collinite.

I agree Zaino is probably good stuff based on the reviews....but for over double the price of most stuff out there I cant justify it. I would rather spend some of the cash on mods, ladies, babies, etc.....

The Zaino leather conditioner (Z10) is one product I want. It supposed to smell goooood

anyone hear anything about the new XMT 360? wonder how this will compare to Prime? From what I read it is supposed to be an AIO with a mild swirl remover, cleaning ability and a sealant....How would you compare Prime to Poorboys Polish with Sealant?

Prime is a base meant to be used under Jett. It is not a stand alone product IMO.

Yeah, Prime isn't a stand alone..but I think Prime Acrylic is intended to be a stand alone.

Will any other sealant work with Prime? AJ is just too finicky for me.

Finicky how?

If you apply a very thin coat of AJ, lightly working it into the paint and knocking down any visible high spots with your applicator pad (without adding more product) and apply and remove a section at a time, AJ is very easy to use. Took me a couple times to get it down but once I did, applying and removing AJ because a piece of cake.

Poorboy's EX-P, Zaino's Clear Seal and the soon to be released Optimum Opti-Seal all work well over Prime.

Agreed. I apply it to a panel, then take the applicator and basically buff it off with that. Then go back with an MF to clear up any missed spots. VERY easy to use when using this method.

What about using the AG-T instead of AG? I think that would allievate any application problems, right?

You mean AJT? Yeah, it is easier to use but you use a bit more per vehicle. I can seal a good 60 vehicles with a bottle of AJ, about half of that with AJT.

I was pretty pleased with the beading of AJT today after a lot of rain. The beads tended to be large and far spread but tall.

Klasse, Carlack, JW, Shokar. LOL So many products out of one company? Here is some first hand info when we were dealing with Carlack when we were going to re-label as ShoKar.

1. Carlack was only willing to change color or smell. They were very specific on what they modified and did testing with every suggestion. After a few tests we were not even able to add a scent! So basically custom formulations with Carlack were not available, this was only a couple years ago, about the same time JW came about in the USA and ShoKar decided to throw in the towel here in Canada.

2. At the time I was getting sent samples from Carlack we received the old version and the new version. I can assure you neither were the same as Klasse. Not saying Carlack was better or worse, it was simply different.

3. When we were picking bottles for Shokar, there were no red or silver bottles available through Carlack. I purposely asked out of curiosity and their supplier did not provide those colors. I also asked if we can supply bottles and they pump them and the answer was no, their machinery only has the tooling to fill the bottles they supply.

4. Why would Carlack as a company make custom formulations for another company that is better than their own? Really, think about it,

Customer: Can you send me a sample of your product but modify it so it is more durable, easier to use, and has better slickness, wetness and depth.

Carlack: No problem, we save our best formulations for other companies. We will just add more durability solution, an ounce more of wetness and a deeper than deep solution.

Ok, One more!

Carlack: (Phones Klasse) we have a new and improved formula. We can simply pump them in your bottles.

Klasse: Nah… If you don’t mind, please keep your old formulation running for us, we don’t like improvements.

LOL

So if I wasn't able to receive custom formulations when dealing with Carlack at all and the new and old Carlack were not like Klasse, Is Klasse really the old version of Carlack? Is JW just rebottled Carlack? Does it matter?

Personally I learned to just try the product, if you like it use it! If you want to sell it, don’t re-label it! Hopefully this info from my first hand experiences is useful in some way. I don’t know if it makes things clearer or more complicated! LOL

Thanks for that (somewhat cryptic) information Chris.

Sounds to me like Carlack sold the right to the old Klasse formulations to another company (probably for a tidy sum) and the company they sold these rights to didn't get a non-competition type agreement in return.

Now Carlack is out making and licensing improved formulations which are in direct competition with and beat the socks off of the old Klasse formulation.

Sounds to me like all the formulations we've been discussing (Klasse, JW, Shokar) all originally came out of Carlack regardless of what kind of complicated/simple licensing agreements they might have or which formulas they might have sold outright to other companies.

You're absolutely right though - the bottom line is: do you like a particular product, does it work for you?
