I actually recommend the exact opposite when applying AJT; avoid MF's with a thick nap. The ultra plush MF's are great for QD's but not so good with AJT. I used PakShak's low nap ultra-fine MF. You'll find that AJT is a bit more "grabby" than a QD on initial application. With a ultra plush/thick nap MF you will have the towel roll up on itself. A low nap high quality MF will make application of AJT much easier IMO.
In my experience with AJT, if it is "grabby" then you might have allowed some of the AJT to dry on the surface before removing it all.

Your description of an ultra plush towel "rolling up on itself" makes me think that maybe you are making more work for yourself than is necessary by allowing some of the AJT to set up before you attempt to remove it.

As Jeff Werkstatt himself said in response to an email an Autopian sent him:

"And for AJ Trigger, the process is even simpler: spray a small amount on the

surface, spready it uniformly with a microfiber towel, and continue buffing

until the surface is clear. Flipping to a dry side of the towel on the

final pass will help leave perfect results. There is no waiting time

necessary. It is one continuous application/buffing process. Trigger can

also be layered, with 30 minutes recommended between layers."

When I apply the AJT on a panel I spray it on and spread it around using the short nap side of an ultra plush MF towel. By the time I've finished spreading the product around by lightly moving the towel around over the panel - the AJT has already almost vanished. Then I immediately do one last buff with the plush, dry side of the towel and the finish looks spectacular.

If you follow Jeff's suggested continuous application/buffing method, then (in my experience) the AJT is not "grabby" at all but silky smooth and as easy as using a QD.

No, I am not letting AJT set on the surface at all. AJT is more "grabby" than a regular QD. That is just a characteristic of AJT. My experience is echoed by quite a few users of AJT that I've come across. A low nap MF works best when using AJT. You, yourself state above that you use the "short nap side" for application. I'm just giving a suggestion to others out there, and obviously it is up to personal taste, but in my experience ease of use is improved with a low nap MF.

I have a 95% full bottle of AJ if you would like it real cheap plus shipping. I throw in a half bottle of Menzerna Acrylic Gloss (QD) if you like to try some. :xyxthumbs

Trade you a nearly full bottle of Zaino CS for it...

Here is a helpful hint for applying Prime; spread it around and work it into the paint until it clears out. At that point you should see very little product on the paint. Removes very easily when you do that.

Thanks for your reply. I have also been convinced after doing my research that JW products are the best bang for your buck. It seems like they are user friendly as well. A huge plus for someone like me comming from using liquid paste wax his whole life.

Sorry to sound like a fool, but what exactly is "AW"? Is that a wax that you would use on top of the AJ-T? I understand you used it on top of Klasse, but any experience combining this with the JW products?

Here is a couple of threads that may be helpful....I think I know how you are feeling...

I have spot applied and it is easier to use then Klasse, at least the AJ vs. SG.

Scottwax, I have read a bunch of posts this weekend regarding your comments on JW products. Very helpful! Overall, how do you rate them? Do you use Duragloss AW as a QD between washes after you have applied the JW Prime and AJ-T?

Do you use AW as a topper (or QD) or do you use anything else as a topper?

Thanks!

I would use Quick Wash as your QD before I would go with AG. It has more cleaners.

By the way....its Jeff Brandt.....Werkstatt is German for Garage.

You got a deal! If it is 4oz or more.

I know you will put the AJ to good use.

This bottle is just collecting dust and the little I have use was on the chrome wheels.

Do you want the FMJ QD too.

:thx

PM me:hifive:

I'm game for that too. Send me a PM.

I'll give you a 90% full bottle of trigger for it.

Werkstatt looks great initially, but attracts dust better than my furnace filter :xyxthumbs

joshtpa: I'll trade you CS, for over 1/2 a bottle of FMJ + a full 32oz. bottle of the Menzerna QD spray. Send me a PM please!

I haven't found Trigger to collect dust at all in my experience...at least not anything noticeable..

Trigger WILL streak pretty bad if you don't know how to apply it. Be sure to work it in REAL well.

I dont need the QD spray, I have plenty of it. But if you have a full bottle of the AJ, I will take that trade.

I've never used AW so I can't comment on it. I have used both Werkstatt's Acrylic Glos and Zaino Z8 over AJ with excellent results.

Actually - I've found the opposite to be true.

In my experience, AJT resists dust accumulation very well. Right now is prime pollen season in my area (Charlotte, NC). I have two coats of AJT on my car and I notice that I have much less accumulation of pollen on my horizontal surfaces than most every other vehicle on the road.

Also - one of the best things about AJT IMO is how good it looks even after it gets pretty dirty. Unlike some products that look great when they are freshly cleaned/washed but look like absolute garbage after you've accumulated some dirt/grime/rain - AJT still looks great - glossy and shiny even after the rigors of daily driving for several weeks.

Perhaps it's the fact that Werkstatt does repel dust pretty well and that it sheets off water and thus remains relatively clean compared to some other products - I don't know. All I know is that Werkstatt does seem to hold up its looks very well indeed under the dirty conditions of daily driving.

Hmmm i will check my local carquest for that.

Just dont want to order online becuase i go through soooooo much QD that it would be impractacle to always order online. Same with car soap.

Some others have recommended Duragloss AW. How does this compare to the Fast Clean and shine as a QD?

Do you spray this after using the AJ-T? Or more of a product to use in between washes?
