Who's doing/done their winter prep?

Supposed to snow next week ( :down ), so I figured I'd better start my prep .

2 layers of collonite 845 on everything here. (even on stuff I'm parking for the winter, heh)

both my wife's and my vehicle have a layer of 845 topped with OCW. I'm considering doing another layer on both cars in the next few weeks.

Although I have a couple months 'til the bad weather really kicks in, I've gone with a couple coats of sealant and RainX'd the windows all-around. The stuff is fun to see in action :bigups.

I've also checked the underbody and located a few spots where the factory oozy rubber-type coating has worn or chipped away. I must head to the hardware store and pick up some black spray sealant of sorts...gotta keep the rust away!

If the weather's nice, I'm doing mine this weekend. If not next weekend. I'm planning on a couple layers of FK1000P.

On my son's truck (he's 16 on Thursday) I just put 2 layers of z2p with zfx. On wife's car this weekend I put on 2 coats of dgps 3.0 One coat saturday, one coat sunday. The jet ski's go dg501 followed by polycharged dg105, also this done this past weekend. My company vehicle has to wait till next weekend, cause I am worn out. It is a blizzard pearl highlanader which I am thinking about giving a couple coats of blackfire wet diamond. I have never used BF before, any comments on it's durability?

my Blackfire Wet Diamond should be here this week so most likely next weekend for me. what should you use for plastics, if anything

I did the YukonXLD a while back and I won't redo it until at least next spring.

Six applications (?layers? :nixweiss who knows, but I did try to accomplish that...) of FK1000P except for some exterior trim surfaces where I used KSG instead (six applications that *did* layer).

Did the undercarriage, including touching up some surface rust and refreshing some rust-proofing, esp. on electrical connections/grounds, the underbody seams, and around the bodymount bushings. Detailed the spare, Amsoiled its mouting hardware, and made sure it has the proper PSI.

I plan to trade the MPV, so I'm not gonna knock myself out over that one. I kinda doubt I'll do any real winter prep to any of the other vehicles except for mounting the winter wheels/tires; I'll just keep doing what I always do year-round.

it's too early...maybe in another month or two.

Ditto that! here in Southern New England, it can be in the 50's+ in December... and it's so nice when it is! :bigups

I'll probably start on winter preps next weekend if I don't have any customer's cars to do. I want to get it over with before all my regulars want their cars done like they always do (usually from mid-October to mid-November I am busting my *** trying to get them all in).

September is still a bit early for winter preps IMO. Once late November rolls around and they haven't been prepped yet, the weather is to the point where I just say screw it and just toss on a quick coat of something on instead of being really thorough like I should. :nervous:

Glad to see another Western NY-er on the forum..........it's lonely out here :)!!

BTW, since when is late September TOO early for anything winter related?? I'm starting NOW. It's so fickle around here. One cold blast across Lake Erie and Buffalo can be socked in!! Same here in Roch-cha-cha......ugh. You have to be like me and dreading the winter season. What I'd do for just 50'sF around here Nov. - March! (I love you guys from the southern & southwestern states who are doing your "winter prep". :) :) The crap around here is real winter............especially when it snows, thaws and gets sloppy!)

Collonite 845 just arrived and I'm trying it for the first time for winter preparation on the DD. Hope the claims of our friends in Utica hold up!

See ya. :wavey

Pardon my "Newbiness", but what is OCW? I want to winterize my Audi, and need more information on what products work best for the long Michigan winters!
