Who's doing/done their winter prep?

I have 2 coats of Klasse SG, 2 coats of 845 and 2 coats of 476 on both DD's. I find 476 is much easier to apply over 845. Poorboys QD+ after each ONR wash keeps it looking like new.

Our winter gets pretty nasty down here in Ottawa with temps sometimes hitting

-40C

I think I'm leaning towards the Collinite 845 and the Klasse High Gloss.

Although I think someone mentioned that the FK1000P looks better on silver audi paint than the Klasse.

Now I just need to decide whether I want to do some more correction before winterizing or just wait till spring

Just finished mine with wolfang DGPSx2/supernaturalx2. My wifes car is next, thinking about wolfgang DGPS/RBOE or fuzion. Haven't decided yet.

I'm not a fan of KSG on Audi silver, but if protection is the big thing then I'd go with it anyhow.

As for the correction, if you expect you'll have to repolish come spring anyhow, then I'd just wait until then.

Finished my prep, Klasse AIO, following by 4 coats of KSG, rain-x and stoner on all windows, just in time before it gets cold. First time using the Klasse products, I really like it! Quick to apply/remove, has a neat "plastic" look to it, only downside is I can really see all the paint correction needed and all those little dings on a older car.

Not just a plastic *look*, but also a cool plastic *feel* :D Gives me lots of confidence that there's *protection* on there.

And yeah, KSG is quite unforgiving. I'm only using it on one vehicle (minivan) which I'm able to keep basically marring-free. The numerous little dents and dings sure are obvious all right :o

Ok, last post in this thread I swear!

After another round of deliberation I've finally decided on Collinite 845 as my winter sealant this year. Reasons are as follows:

KSG: less than stellar looking on Audi silver. Long cure times before layering.

FK1000P: harder to apply (supposedly) and very long cure time before layering.

Collinite: easy to apply and pretty quick cure time (about an hour or so IIRC)

The cure times are actually important as I'll be invading my friends garage to do the work (I only have a driveway) so leaving the car overnight doesn't really work.

Last question, is it ok to apply the 845 over the existing layers of 1Z glanz and lusso oro or should I strip down first?

Heh heh, famous last words ;) I've learned to quit saying that myself....

I dunno if a) FK1000P really requires a long cure time or not (opinions seem to vary) and/or, b) 845 can be layered quicker :nixweiss

Never tried either of those under 845, but you can generally apply 845 over top of most anything without any issues.

hitting everyhting I can apply poli-seal to x2, then following up with 845, should be good enough. Stoners trim spray on all plastics and vinyl.

On my 06 Ford Escape, I used Megs 151 to prep the paint , and then I followed with Collinite 476. On my wifes 04 Kia Sedona I clayed and then used Duragloss 111 after 601.
