It will take some time to settle and actually think letting this play out for a year rather than delaying it would lead to the final answer sooner - good or bad.

The prior problems had been blamed on greedy lawyers but it was just greedy health care companies. Now, they see another reason to raise prices and let someone else get the blame.

Here's the way I see it.

The president made a behind closed doors promise to bring more customers to the health care companies. He's keeping his promise.

I believe he was lobbied and he surrendered.

It's great now no one needs to get a job. Between welfare and now Obama care now no one needs to go to work. Used to be folks go jobs for healthcare. Now why would they work?

Can anybody give an example of when government got in anything - where it got better? I can't, Jimmah Carter added Education to a cabinent level and schools declined, W added the every child left behind and it's working - they are. FDR created many entiltledment programs, and look where we are - SS is broke, and LBJ's medicare/caid is right there with them. I read alot, and from what I've read, socialize medicine doesn't work, Canada and Great Brittain can attest to that.
Here's my plan:
Tort Reform, too many greedy little trial lawyers (John Edwards) reduce the max payout and cut them off at the knees. The doc that delivered both my kids quit and went back to teaching - couldn't afford the insurance. Sorry Ms Smith, nearest baby doc is about 3 hours away, now you just hold on and squeeze unior a little longer.
Doc Internal Affairs - like the cop version, have a group to police the doctors, they aren't above the law, nor ethics either.
Medicine - can't we work with other countries and share research/cost and get meds to market in under the current 5-10 FDA years.
Personal Responsibilty - this is about as rare as it gets, but, at some point, people have got to realize that everything CAN'T be cured with a pill, and maybe smokin 3 packs of Lucky's, and eating like a pig ain't good for you.
Rant Over, carry on!

I just love the fact that the government and agency tasked to "run" the program can't even run a brothel & gin mill

Amen !!!!!!!

(now excuse me cuz I gotta go hide my smokes)
(oh wait, ada says i'm an addict)

...They make it sound so simple, so affordable and so beneficial. I can't help but think that there is a video out there somewhere looking at this from a very different vantage point. Lets face it, they don't need thousands of pages of documentation (the Act) to say what that video just explained in a few minutes. Feels like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.

try this one on for size..found it quite amusing at least

Obamacare Explained in One Sentence - FUNNY! - YouTube

the first 1:40 or so is all thats worth watching (for the sentence to be fully heard)

The ACA is going to drive many older, working couples in debt. Especially if they gross over $60,000 combined. The premium for a like couple will be $17,100 annually in Ohio.

Far too expensive to be labeled Affordable Care.

Annual cost of $17K? Someone is making a ton of $$.
I think with my annual checkup, annual vision check and Dentist checks I'm MAYBE at a grand for the year.... That means that some insurance company would be making 16K a year off of me..... How many others are in that same boat??? Makes no sense.

But on the other hand of something catastrophic happens...... the health care costs will be out of sight.... I guess then I will be happy I have it?!?!.

I’m glad I have insurance thru my company and it is part of my overall compensation!.

I pay over 2444.oo/mo for a family plan, and waiting for the new bill to come in now to see if it went up again

holy bejeezus thats a lot of money

I used to have a ft 'desk' job and i couldn't even afford the insurance then

i doubt that i will be able to afford health care on my own...how much is the fine again? $300/year?

and where does that go anyways

<and no im not going to mooch off the system, i haven't been to the dr in half a decade-i seem to be doing okay...i'd rather drain my savings acct to pay for a medical bill IF it happened, than pay a couple hundred monthly>

they just take your money left and right..heck, i had to pay uncle sam for a 'gas guzzler' tax on my srt challenger--it gets 26mpg on the hwy..how is that right

my previous vehicle (acura suv) said it was a ultra low emissions vehicle-yet it only got 21 hwy..but no guzzler tax....makes sense to me, right

Actually age and health dependent it may be wiser not to get insurance under the new plan, and if ya get sick, hold out for 30 days and then get it. So that way it costs you the fine, then a buy it if you need it scenario

i definitely need to educate myself more on this topic but fundamentally I don't agree with the govt mandating that i get insurance but then again i fundamentally don't agree with a lot of things that i have to deal with on a daily basis. so maybe i'm just up a creek with a broken paddle

I'm running bare. I'm young, healthy, I take care of myself. I don't need the government to tell me that I need to insure myself too, they're going to have to arrest me if they want that to happen...

Do you have car insurance? I am sure you are a careful driver and take excellent care of your car but that does not take into account all the other drivers on the road. The government is not telling you you have to have insurance, it is making it available to everyone at all income levels.

ACA is not a behind closed door deal with health care. It forces health care companies to compete, it forces them to remove limitations such as pre-existing conditions, lifetime maximum caps, and extends 100% coverage to checkups and other routine health visits. It also forces Health Care companies to refund premiums if they spend a certain amount on advertising, executive bonus payout etc. This is not run by the government, it's a law that forces all the health insurance providers to compete in a market place for your insurance. It grants tax incentives to lower and middle income families to help offset the cost of premiums (premiums you get choices on from silver to platinum plans but with still the basics 100% covered). There are other benefits including protection from rate increases. Any rate increase of 10% or more must be publicly justified (except for grandfathered in plans - which was voted in by house republicans btw)...the 80/20 rule, meaning Health insurance companies must spend at least 80% of the money they take in from us on health care for us or refund the difference. Insurance companies cannot charge you a higher percentage for emergency care at an out of network hospital. The are a whole host of things that ACA improved for everyone.

The funny thing is we actually have a national health care system run by the government ...it is called the VA. It is considered sacred by some and Vets look to it for their needs.

I would rather see the VA shutdown and give vets vouchers to use the public system like they want to do for schools, etc.

Wow, I had no idea they were doing that. Got to forgive me because I did away with cable so I've been living under a rock. Excuse me!
