UK Detail: Mr.Paul Dalton

Wasn't the guy with the car the friend? I need to slow down and read everything.

I have no idea but I detail for a living and I'm not putting that kind of time into my own car because it is too frustrating to maintain it at that level, especially a daily driven, parked outside black car with horribly soft paint. I got better things to do with my time. Well, sort of. ;)

I figured maybe being in the UK, he had access to one of those Chinese brand notebooks that imitates the look of Apple.

Justin, it is so cool you know this guy! How did you meet him?

Well, I actually found out about him when someone here posted that video of him and accused him of charging way to much. When I heard what he made, I knew where I wanted to be in 3 years. So, I simply emailed him. We talked back and forth a few times. Then we kinda stopped since we both got busy. I then joined detailingworld.com, the UK's version of Autopia. Very nice guys over there that take this business seriously. I started posting my work there and eventually Paul saw it and complimented me in public and in PM. We recently have discussed our techniques via PM and email. Now, I'm thinking of taking a trip over there with my family!

Thanks for posting this Justin, that is a pretty amazing detail. It was nice to see some of Paul's work documented in such a detailed post.

That would be a pretty cool trip to meet Paul and some other UK detailers..... make sure to take a lot of pictures!

as a completely different side note, I noticed he had a vertual PC on his 12inch powerbook... I've been running Parallels on my Macbook Pro, but haven't found one that will run with my powerbook... anyone know what he was using?

But the detail looks cool... honestly, many people here get the same results... but if he can charge up the wazoo, by all means go for it!

What ever people think about him is there own opinion.

But is one hell of an impressive result.

Good luck to him.

I know how that is! You're right though bro. To each their own I guess. The only thing is, I bet there is not one pro (or novice) detailer here that would trade shoes with him for his clients or money made.

Plus, he is simply one nice guy!

I live in London and the people here are WILD rich. I am talking, going out to a bar and spending 50,000 pounds (100,000 USD) just for a fun night out. These people have so much money they really lose sight of what things cost, and are willing to pay for anything.

I would imagine a lot of his business is word of mouth. One billionaire tells another, etc.....! That being said, everything here is really expensive anyways, and after looking at his website and seeing an average detail runs from 450-600 pounds, that seems not SO pricey, all things considered. When looking at prices, you have to see them at 1 to 1 (dollars to pounds). If a coke costs a buck in the US, it costs a pound here...!

But yah, his pics look really good... but on a brand new car? I'd like to see him do some restoration on a 15 year old swirled car...! But I would imagine that quite a few dudes on this forum are as good as this guy...! Detailing is not rocket science......if you know what you're doing and have a lot of experience, you can invariably be incredible if you have the passion for it..! That being said, imagine getting paid that much to detail... hes probably going to end up as rich as some of his clients!!!!
