Souveran to a haze before buffing

This is an interesting coincidence, I was applying P21, had the hood done, and a got a phone call. 15 minutes later, it dried to a haze. Removed and noticed a better shine then I could ever remember.

I love verification of observations.

How was the effort of removal (buffing) of hazed P21S? That is my next trial after I apply another coat of hazed Souveran.:xyxthumbs

I didn't notice any increased effort. The other thing that I like about it is that it makes it easier to see what your removing. Since I do it indoors, even with bright light, when its transparent I wind up missing a few spots. With a bit of haze to guide me, its one less spot that shows up later

What is "EX"? I couldn't find it on the list of acronyms. Thanks.
I think blkZ28Conv previously mentioned that he was trialing some experimental product, hence "EX".

I'm kind of surprised that leaving P21S on there doesn't make it any harder to remove. Seems to be the opposite of what people say isn't it? :nixweiss Maybe if you leave it on there for a much longer than a few minutes it gets easy to remove again?

I left in on for about 20 minutes, it isn't especially hot ~65 degrees, so it didn't bake on. It might be a different story different on a hot dry day. :nixweiss

The EX is an experimental resin/sealant from poorboy products. It is in the final stages (packaging remaining I think). Do a search on it in the review product section. I am also testing it, and, the initial concesus from the thread is that this is a winner :up with similarities to bfII and the new upp.

I have never let Souveran haze, I usually apply it to a panel then buff. Sometimes If I am in more of a hurry, I will apply to the whole car, then buff all at once.

But I wouldnt let it haze for more than 10 minutes. :nixweiss

Sorry, I should have asked this earlier: Did the wax haze powdery and dry (like "normal" waxes) or was it still kind of moist like when you normally buff P21S, or.... what? :nixweiss I'm just curious because I don't think I'll be able to try this with my S100 for the next week or so. :(

When I was working with it last night it produced some dust but not as much as with your typical carnuba waxes. At least that its the way it seemed to me.

I just found this through searching about Poorboy's and Souveran. You guys are great. I just had a thought...wouldn't it be funny if we all lived in the same neighborhood? A stranger would drive through and wonder who all those nuts were outside always experimenting with the car finishes, etc. Just thought it was a funny visual.

Your neighborhood or my neighborhood? How many Km? 8000? :shocked

My EX is on it's way now. How many layers of the EX are you guy's putting down before the Souveran and what's your usual curring time between layers of the EX?

X-MAN & BradNC,

I have 3 layers of EX on my jet black BMW. When applying, I found that misting the applicator with filtered water and keeping the applicator a little moist, helped in spreading the very thick EX. Try to apply a nice thin layer of EX.

After applying, I found that waiting about 30 min. to an 1 hr., (depending on the temp. & humidity), and then removing worked best. It helped the shine 'pop' more and made removal easier.

I waited 18 to 24 hrs. before applying another layer of EX.

I now have 2 layers of Souveran and I love it! I have found with Souvern about 3 layers aprox. 12 to 24 hr. apart works best. When applying Souveran I have never let it haze. I apply it to 1 panel or to 1/4 of the hood, and then wipe off with a MF towel. I also found out that moistened the applicator, (I use the applicator that came with P21S), with Crystal Mist QD every 4th panel or so, makes Souveran even easier to work with!

I then apply a new layer of Souveran every 2 to 3 wks. In between waxing, I use Crystal Mist QD to keep up that Souveran richness.

Here is a pic with 3 layers of EX and 2 Coats of Souveran at BimmerFest West in Santa Barbara.

AMP99, nice pics:up

I will be doing my silver volvo c720 coupe this weekend with EX!! I will be applying either souveran or s100/ps21 as a topper (s100/ps21 more likely since it is a lighter car color). I would say that there has not been much testing on EX as yet (I recieved my sample less than 2 months ago. Since then I have the whole bottle:o ). It so far seems to be more in line with PUPP and BfII in that it gives a great carnauba look with a sealant durability. Hence, I would imagine that you could layer it as much as you like (ie. like zaino, BFII, PUPP ect. Only klasse I would say would have really any diminishing returns after 4-5 layers), yet it is too early to be sure. I for one will not be able to test that since I will be topping it like AMP99. I will thuogh put at least 4 coats.

AMP99 has it right in terms of waiting period between removal and extra layers as pointed out on other threads of tests with EX.

I am eager to try EX as it will be going over AIO (see how that is). Then souveran or s100 as a topper.

AMP99, thanx for the EX tip :xyxthumbs

the ride is look'n tight! nice job.

If you apply your souveran that often...have you ever considered applying liquid souveran after a few layers of paste?
