Ari Gold
Product: Power Puff Multi-Purpose Handheld Sponge

Price & Price Per Ounce: $2.97 + tax

Manufacturer Claims: The PowerPuff's patented design gently scrubs the sides while scouring the bottom. Easily rinses clean and does not promote the growth of bacteria. Our NEW fast-drying, long lasting scrubbing sponge is ideal for mugs, carafes, cups, dishes, cookware, and more!

Packaging: Just a simple laminated paper tag that is easily removed. The acutal item is very sturdy and about 8" long.

Color/Scent/Viscosity: White plastic handle with blue rubber grips for easy handling. The yellow scrubber is VERY similar to a bug scrubber in texture and performance. The blue scouring pad on the bottom reminds me of a softer version of a scotchbrite pad.

How I used (as per instructions): No instructions on wheel cleaning here. I hosed down the wheel with cool water, sprayed Meguiar's Wheel Brightener cut 2:1 generously on the surface, allowed 2 minutes of dwell time, then proceeded to dip the Power Puff in a dilution of car wash and agitate the areas. Only a few quick motions were needed to easily wisk away the horrid brake dust.

Overall Thoughts: I love it.

For ~$3 you really can't beat it. I've tried the OXO and Meguiar's Spoke Brushes and didn't like them. I have done 11 sets of wheels to date and the brush nearly looks the same. I cut the yellow part slightly, twice, on brake caliper clips (my fault). It rinses so clean, that you can go right from scrubbing the wheel to cleaning the wells.

This product has easily replaced my bug scrubber for wheel/well cleaning duties. No more cut hands, no more chemicals wreaking havoc on your skin. Truly a great find, IMO.

Other Notes: Repurchase every 15-20 sets of wheels for an optimal cleaning experience.

Questions/Comments, fire away.

Where is this found in Walmart (Laugh). Meg's brushes were always cheap for me, tips getting dirty & deteriorating. DOes this brush compress much? What about lug nut areas?

The Woob: In the home cleaning section. It compresses a lot if need be to get into pretty tight areas. It will not fit in most lug nut areas, so I'm looking for something, still, to fit the bill.

I have about 3 1/2 inches of space between the front rotors and the inner wheel. Would this brush compress enough to get in there and clean them nicely?

I agree. The Megs wheel brush is crap.

3.5 inches? Easily.

I was talking more like 1-2" (max). Some vehicles, the caliper is almost touching the inner rim.

Have you tried one of these? It doesn't do a bad job, although not a perfect solution.
About $3 at Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts, can't remember which.

Charles

I use that, and it gets the job done...

Charles: The thing I like about the Power Puff other than the price and other items mentioned, is how thin the wand is, yet strong. It is a very manueverable piece and can be stowed with everything. The piece you posted looks like the thick handle might get in the way on thinner spoked wheels.

G35,

The lug brish he shows is sued for the outer part of the wheel. How would the handle interfere?

My apologies.

I was under the influence you and Charles were using that for the entire wheel.

Not to change the subject but this is one of the best wheel brushes that I have used in a long time...The one that I get are from a local janitorial supplier is 6 bucks and you can reach into the back of the rims without any problem...Its thin so that in allot of cases I can get under most brake calipers that have tight areas

Heres a pic of the front caliper space and wheel.... It fits perfect and yellow part is not as hard as I thought it would be...

Thanks for the visual, what is your thoughts on durability with heavy wheelcleaners. I bought a wheelbrush from AG and it fell apart in 30 secs:wall

Not sure... I just bought it today. lol... I'm assuming one should rinse the brush really well if planning on using wheel acid...

I bought one of those foam brushes like G35stilez has pictured last summer at my local Wal-Mart and that is what I bought it for was cleaning my wheels.
I have been using a toilet bowl brush like beemmerboy shows for several years but never posted because I thought people would think I was nuts but it works better than all of those expensive ones that I have that I just leave hanging because the bowl brush works better. The curved part just fits the curve on the tire and they are cheap to replace.
You don't have to pay twenty bucks for a brush to get the job done.
As to how the foam holds up to harsh chemicals I can't say I clean my wheels so often that all I use is soap and water sometimes a little A2Z

I have a brush like that. Got it at Wal-Mart, works great in the log nut area!

I going to wal-mart and get one of them Power puff! Great write up!

Will that Lug Nut brush really get into small areas? I've seen it at Advance Auto Parts and it looks quite big. No luck on finding the Power Puff Brush, but I did find some nice Dispensing Bottles for $.78!
