Reccomended/most popular Tire Shine/Protectant?

I like Meguiar's NXT Insane Shine aerosol spray.

It is easy to apply, doesn't sling, not too shiny, and holds up well.

I've never had sling problems with Meg's High Endurance... however, I believe those of you who are having sling problems are allowing the product to bead in that little area between the wheel and rim of the tire... Make sure you get your applicator down there and spread the product as evenly as possible.

Let it sit for a while (how long you want is up to you, but AT LEAST 10-15 minutes), then make sure to thoroughly wipe it down before driving on it.

Great tips, Paul! I usually apply liberally (with my toothbrush :)) and let it sit overnight. Of course, since I'm using a toothbrush, I am able to spread the product thinly and evenly. On the second day, there is no sling after driving. Looks great!

heh, well I actually still have yet to get an actually 100% even coat on my tires... it seems very difficult to get it into all the ribs without having to use yet MORE gel. Seriously, I think I might go through my bottle in just a few uses lol.

Naw, but I think I'll give the toothbrush a try next time... I'm getting tired of not getting an even coat the first time! :)

I got a several bottles of Meg Endurance for $2 bottle at Big Lots. I use a foam applicator and have no sling at all. It has a good look and holds up pretty well.

I also like the Megs sprays for ease of application - really sticks though and needs to be sprayed outside, but eventually I think I will likely use 303.

A great tip I've learned with using gel's, especially OTC gels, is using a Tire Foam as a base and then wipe off. this really allows the gel to go on buttery smooth and uses about 50% less product. I've had great success with it.

At time of application:

After one week of daily driving; includes full day driven in rain, 30 min. of driving through snow slushed roads, and a 150 mile pure highway road trip.

^^ wow, looks great. Say, how do you apply the tire foam? Using another foam applicator (generic "tire swipe")? Or do you just spray it on?

I use AA Foam as prep/cleaner. I spray it on and let sit for 1-2 min, right before all the foam has been absorbed. If tires were really dirty I'll scrub with an old brush and then wipe off, otherwise I just wipe them off. I wipe them pretty good, leaving just a nice matte, natural looking shine, but it's a great base coat for AA Gel. Any gel would probably work.

I only get about 3 days out of Stoners :nixweiss

interesting. the shine lasts about a week +/- a few days and even through one rain.

what i really like is no sling at all and i don't have to use tire swipes. spray and leave :)

Mike, it is the JW Satin Prot (Klasse VLRP). A white watery liquid, which is best to be applied with a swipe or a similar applicator; massaging it well in.

They changed the VLRP formula didn't they

Carlack's version seems different and more powerful than VLRP.

Different scent too.

Brilliant on tyres.

Can't wait for my big 1.5 gallon container of it to arrive.

SVR, I don't know, I haven't tried the reformulated stuff. The old stuff I have is VERY similar, although a tiny little bit thicker. (Maybe the age??) It is a different bottle now (original was cracked).
