Reccomended/most popular Tire Shine/Protectant?

Of all the dressings I use & have used.............I have a "core" of 4 products I use. Good old AA is still a nice dressing. Mother's Reflections Advanced Tire Care, Z-16 & CG Gel New Look Trim Gel.

I use gel-EXTENDED LIFE NEW LOOK TRIM & TIRE GEL from Chemical Guys, I've had good luck with it, a little goes a long ways. I get very little tire sling, if any at all.

2 thumbs up on the "Gel" from me. If your looking for a dry to the touch, no sling, gloss dressing, the "Gel's" the stuff. It's what I'm using on my 300C at the moment. It's actually a great all around product. (seals, trim/mouldings & tires) Long lasting as well.

I like Mother's FX tire spray, Armorall Tire foam for the wells and tires when covered with FX. Lasts through at least 2 good rains.

i use both mothers fx tire shine and armor all tire foam and both work great. i'm not too concerned with it too much as i wash the car weekly anyway...

OTC I gotta hand it to AA. Prep with AA Foam, let sit for 2 min, wipe off with an old towel. Leaves a nice protecting, slick, matte base and then I top it with AA Extreme Gel. Goes on super smooth and I've had it last for over 4 weeks. Also, the bottle of AA Gel seems to last forever as well.

Everyune should try mcguiars hot shine spray......Spray and walk away

I am a big fan of Meguiar's products. I love NXT liquid, Detailer's Glass Cleaner, Hyper Dressing, and Gold Class soap just rocks in quality and price. However, I think the Hot Shine spray is a huge disappointment.

  • Does not stay shiny after a day.

For a non-water based dressing, it washes off after a short drive in the rain.

Turns tires brown after only 2 applications.

The aerosol spray is even worse than the liquid spray. I'm gonig to give their Endurance gel a try as I've heard it's very durable. If it doesn't last, then I'll give a 1:2 solution of Hyper Dressing a shot. I don't expect the Hyper to last but at least it won't turn the tires brown.

Justin, a very good detailer here, loves Armor All tire gel. If it gets good results for him, I'm willing to give that a shot too. I just picked up a cheap can of the Armor All extreme shine foam. I'll try that and see how long it lasts as well.

I've recently just done a comparison with Megs Endurance Gel and AA Gel. Both tires were prepped with AA Tire foam. I've taken my lessons from Justin, and that's where I picked up this technique.

Overall, similar products, but to me the AA Tire Gel lasts a tad bit longer and offers a higher gloss. If you want gloss go with AA Gel, slightly less gloss look then go with Megs Endurance.

I've yet to try any of the mainstream tire shines (Zaino, Wolfgang, Pinnacle, etc.)

I use AA foam because of it balanced look, FK1 108 for its durability and satiny finish and Carlack Plastikpflege for blackness and durability.

Mike, it is the JW Satin Prot (Klasse VLRP). A white watery liquid, which is best to be applied with a swipe or a similar applicator; massaging it well in.

Thanks, I only have the old (oily) VLRP.

I agree. I never had any problems with the tire turning brown. Did a good job at keeping mud off my A/T's off road too.. Ive switched to Endurance and love it also. :2thumbs:

I've never had sling problems with Meg's High Endurance... however, I believe those of you who are having sling problems are allowing the product to bead in that little area between the wheel and rim of the tire... Make sure you get your applicator down there and spread the product as evenly as possible.

Let it sit for a while (how long you want is up to you, but AT LEAST 10-15 minutes), then make sure to thoroughly wipe it down before driving on it.

Black Again, $6.95 a bottle @CMA/Properautocare.... is one of the glossiest, longest lasting protectants you can apply on tires, or rubber/vinyl for that matter....
