Whats up guys, i personally have never used rain x on my windshield, but i hear from friends this stuff is one of the greatest things since sliced bread. They mention they are able to get by without even using their wipers....the water just beads up and slides off the windshield. Does this product really live up to the hype? Id like to know before i cop a bottle.

Thanks!

Try PPG Aquapel. It is a little more expensive, but it last for up to 6 months. Pep Boys has it for $7.99. The consumer version is simply called PPG Windshield "Water Repellant"

Save your money. Meguiars NXT Glass Cleaner has the same water beading effect that RainX does and the effect lasts longer too.

Stay away. Too many side effects. Streaking skipping. And it is really hard to remove when you change your mind.

It works really really well if you apply it about every week to two weeks. However it wears really quickly!! This is when you start running into the issues I mentioned above.

I was a long time RX user years and years.

Now I have switched to PPG Aquapel. It is a great long lasting solution. I have found that if properly applied it is good for at least six months. As you will read in the last thread I applied it to my LS430 some time ago, and it is still going strong without the slightest negative side effect. I still give it a 10/10. Make sure the surface is really clean use clay and Stoners!!! Oh, and by the way, if you are careful and fast you can do the windshield, the front mirrors, headlights, and the front two windows with a single pack.

Check out these threads.

Your rain-x must be like your beer down there: WEAK!

I usually only have to apply twice a year.. I will say unless it's pouring though, my wipers usually streak a little...but most times, since the rain's falling off I hardly need to use wipers anyways....

However, I might have to try some PPG aquapel just to say I did.

Actually im glad this thread was started. Rain x seems to be really finicky with certain weather when applying. I kinda hate it. I need something new and Aquapel is way to expensive for customers cars. Though, I have sealed with DG AW on the windshield and am so far pleased with results

I've had good results with RainX. I like the show when it starts to rain....just streaks off kinda mesmerizing. I just use as directed....apply with overlapping circular motions x2..let it haze, then buff off..using a damp cloth if necessary.

I haven't noticed the same effects with Nxt glass cleaner. (On a side note, I just switched from the NXT to Stoners IG, and windows seem more fun to do now....probably just psychological though...with the aerosol delivery method...seems like i'm spraying graffiti on the windows. heh)

Zaino-CS and Optiseal can also be used on glass. It works pretty well also and gives up to 6 months. I hear that it may streak on the windshield, but I personally have not had this problem.

Has anyone else used the NXT glass cleaner?? Hearing it from you makes it reassuring Scott but I need a few more yes or nos for myself....I have way too much stuff

PPG Aquapel does not give you the issues, and lasts far longer. Aquapel for the win. Easy win.

Try not to give either the win unless you have used both, and can make a fair call.

I use Rain X on my windows. No problems here. Not to mention my windows clean up very easy too.

Same here, if used correctly and not to excess there are no side effects for me.:xyxthumbs

I use RainX windshield washer fluid, and even with that, I barely have to use my wipers when it's raining.

Thanks for posting those links on Aquapel!
