ooohhh this would be nice ! I wanna use a citrus degreaser, but it would be nice to dilute it to save some product too !

Hi,

If you would like to contact me I can let you know what dilutions I am using for various tasks.

As for my product range, they will be out very soon.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact me.

Kind Regards

Paul.

Paul,

We appreciate the notice, but be aware that while DavidB (the owner of Autopia) is pretty lenient about a lot of things, members have to be pretty careful about openly promoting products or services. Somewhere around here there's a list of rules, they might be worth a quick read to avoid stepping on any toes.

I think that worrying about the products he uses is really missing the potentially useful information. I would be much more interested in his techniques in using the various products. There are plenty of good products available on the market, its really just a matter of knowing HOW to use them. Also, he IS offering a level of service most people in the US aren't providing. While the necessity is debatable, he does use a paint thickness gauge to evaluate the paint around the car before he starts polishing. This doesn't make his results look any better (as far as I can figure), but it is an additional level of responsibility he is taking to do his job well. I think the guy deserves credit for what he does. If anything, a person who has watched a video of his work online might be more willing to spend a couple hundred bucks for a real detailing job when they know others are willing to pay much more, and that there are excellent worthwhile results when a car is treated right.

Yes; please read up on our rules for commercial postings.

He is extremely patient and disciplined, that is what makes him a good detailer...not the product he uses.

I don't have 1/4 the patience he does, so I can't sit and be finnicky down to every little nook and cranny of a car, trying to make it perfect.

I have to add to this....

When Paul originally did my car for me the level of detail that was put in was astronomical...

vxr astra and zymol royale - 56k xxx warning... - Detailing World

Although i appreciated the end result would be fantastic i never realised that he is incredibly fussy about things that to me at the time were really not important.....

An example was the roof....

After readings were taken Paul spent about an hour going over and over it till it got to the stage where i actually said that i thought it looked perfect and he replied it may look perfect but it isnt due to the various areas not being level......Now to my eye i personally couldnt see what he was on about but by his ptg he was leveling the playing field to give the car maximum reflection with minimum distortion....

This is the one main point i took away with me from the 5 days my car was worked on from start to finish from all stages....

Oh and Paul is in the media again here in the uk for a bluechip telecommunications company called ORANGE...I believe this article will be mailed out to 250,000 customers ...

Hope the link works...

I really enjoy watching his movies and reading posts with a write-up of a car hes done.

Whats the big deal anyway? Hes just a detailer trying to make a living. He seems to enjoy detailing cars, let him do his job without harassment.

I totally agree with your statment dshreter, heck anyone willing to give pointers I'm all ears :hifive:

I'm always up for new techniques/tricks/pointers...but that's jsut me.

I've never understood why it has to be one or the other. Technique is important and using good quality products is also important. Otherwise, we could just use NuFinish and a rag.

Well said. Product accounts for a lot, too. So to kind of recap, here's what I've deduced so far:

Degreaser: P21S Total Auto Wash

Wash Mitt: Natural Wool Sea Sponge

Shampoo: Zymol Auto Bathe

Drying Towel: ??? (apparently made in Australia)

Wheel Cleaner: P21S Wheel Gel Cleaner

Wheel Brush: Zymol Horse Hair Wheel Brush

Clay: Sonus Ultra-Fine Detailing Clay

Buffer: Makita Rotary

Pads: ???

Polish/Compound: Menzerna line / 3M line

Masking Tape: 3M (if I'm not mistaken)

Paint Thickness Gauge: ??? (something that obviously works with ferrous and non-ferrous surfaces)

Pre-wax cleaner: Zymol HD-Cleanse

Buffing Towels: Zymol Buffing Towels (if I'm not mistaken)

LSP: Zymol Royale

Wheel LSP: Zymol Royale

Tire Dressing: Zymol Tyre Preserve

Rubber seals: wild guess is Zymol Seal

Leather cleaner/conditioner: wild guess is Zymol Leather Cleaner and Zymol Treat Leather Conditioner

Glass/Windows: ???

Vacuum/Extractor: ???

BTW, I find it hard to believe that Paul Dalton is getting away with free refills of Royale. If that was the case then every pro detail shop in the world would be using Royale by now. I would believe it more if he was getting Royale at a detailer's discount. :)

Seriously the only thing that seperates Paul Dalton from many of the top detailers on here is that he has spent a significant sum of money on marketing, end of story. I've seen his work and it is good, no doubt about it, but it is no better than the work of other top detailers here in the UK, i.e. Polished Bliss. Don't believe the hype. I've been in this game for a long time, long before Paul was about, the results he is getting and what he is doing detailing wise, are not a new thing - there is no 'magic' involved. Learn the trade and learn it well, practice, practice, practice!!! However, if you want to rule the world employ a top marketing firm and learn to be media savvy...! :chuckle:

Everyone the purchases Royale gets free refills for life. Not every detailer wants to drop over $7k in local currency to invest in it though. If I had enough work and charged enough, I'd get it and offer it to all my clients. Keep in mind that you still need to pay for shipping for the refills, which also adds up.

Calculate how many cars you can go through with Royale even with shipping costs involved versus your favourite LSP, and I guarantee you Royale will come out cheaper. Now, as businessman, do the math. If it is free refills for businesses - especially full-time businesses, then $7k is chump change. Hell, ask yourself this. How come not many businesses is shelling out $1.5k for Zymol Vintage? You think Zymol is that stupid? Come on. :)

He does get free refills, but has to pay shipping and taxes. Came to about $300USD, IIRC.
