Optimum No Rinse Wash and Shine REVIEW

:I had noticed this review nobody has mentioned anything about the smell of the new Optimum wash. I just received mine today and when I opened it up just could not believe the smell :soscared: to me it smells lowsy, like something rotten. I had to check both gallons to make sure the first one was not bad. does anybody else think this stuff has a funky smell ? I can just see my wife when I am mixing up a batch :bolt

:nixweiss Not great smelling but you have to really sniff it to catch a whiff. No smell in the bucket once it mixes.

Well that is good news for sure, my wife and kids would not like that smell all over the house while I am mixing up the magic elixir. for me as long as it works well the heck with it. did not get a chance to try it out today, suppose to rain tomorrow. I did the next best thing, QEWD, clayed , Prime/ AJ'd two front fenders on my black Jimmy. have to say I have figured out why I was having a hard time. 1st was using too much AJ ( can not believe how little you actually need :xyxthumbs ) second I tried to applicators, the foam one that comes with the AJ and a new MF pad I have. compared them side by side and for me the MF spread the product more evenly ( actually had to make sure it was going on lol ) I was worried I would use a lot more product with the MF but to me it did not seem noticeable. BTW used your wowo for 2 coats and with the MF pad, it was a breeze to apply and remove. looks like we have a winner here. now for those black company cars I have coming up :getdown thanks for bringing this to our attention.

How does this compare to QEW? Is it a better product? I've had a bottle of QEW sitting in my cabinet and was just about to start using it, but if this is better easier, i'd like to give it a shot.

I think that brand xxx has a strange almost poop* like smell when its first opened. After I add it to the water, I never notice the smell again.

*Yes I have a 2 yr old daughter which makes me a connoisseur of fine poop. :nervous:

Better. Leaves the paint slicker and seems to add some shine. Cleans glass better too.

Even with hose access, I prefer using QEW or No Rinse. Yesterday, I was able to wash/dry the body of a Hummer H2 in around 20 minutes with No Rinse. No way can you do that using a hose and a bucket of soapy water.

I wash my wifes car in about 30 min with QEW that includes a quick OCW application after drying. Much quicker that the 2 bucket method. I perfer the foam gun but current water restrictions in my area mean QEW all the time. I cann't wait to try the No Rinse, maybe I will win the Autogek contest!

I have to admit the QEW does have a unique smell but the new Optimum caught me off guard. my kids are past the age where I have to deal with the poop..... I hope :chuckle:

OPTIMUM NO RINSE WASH AND SHINE (as a Car Wash Solution) - I am curious how anyone has used the product as a car wash solution, by way of adding an ounce to a gallon of water. After mixing the solution did you; (1) wash the car using a bucket / sponge? If so, I assume you all you did was dry with a microfiber towel after (meaning no rinse)

Scott, I just picked up some No Rinse from Larry yesterday, he's a real nice guy, has the same car that I do. Which chenille covered foam pad do you use Scott? I picked up a cheap one from Wally-World and it linted all over the place!!

I use the Vroom ones at Target. You do need to wash them first or they do lint a bit.

Glad you could hook up with Larry. Nice to have a good local vender in addition to the fine ones we have here on autopia. :)

Yeah have you tried any of his MF towels? I heard someone say they were similar to Vroom towels, but softer, or that optimum cleaner/degreaser (apc?), I was in a hurry so I didn't get to ask him some questions.

A capful or two of 1Z Lackfinish to a bucket of QEW goes a long way to leaving a slick shine to your car after the wash

That is the great thing about the Optimum version-it works like QEW with QD added to it.

Has anyone tried to use this as a " Spray and Wipe" product?

Thanks

I believe Anthony Orosco has been using it that way.

mrecktid-I have both blue and orange versions of the towels Larry carries. Both are high quality. :)

Got to try the new Optimum rinse free wash yesterday and must say I was quite pleased. the water seemed to be conditioned and slicker better than the brand XXX. also noticed it seemed to dry faster as well. the slicker finish was a nice bonus as well. I used 1.5 ounces of wash to 1.5 gallons of water. question for everybody. the back of the gallon jug states to use 1 oz of solution for 2 gallons of water as a rinse free wash ,has anybody tried it at that ratio ?
