You'd be surprised how many people on regular car forums (especially Tesla forums) know about Opti-Coat and want it on their cars. All three of my Yelp reviews are Opti-Coat Pro customers who wrote the reviews after I detailed and coated their cars. One even posted his own pictures in the review. Honestly, if you are a pro, you'd be nuts to not have a coating option, and if Opti-Coat Pro is too expensive, you can do Gloss Coat, which at 2 years of protection, is equal to most of the other coatings available. Or you can use a competitor's coating, doesn't matter as long as you have it as an option and are proficient in its use.

BOOM!

In Texas no one applies OCP unless they come to us for 1) Training on application and 2) We allow them to apply it.

I'm confused by this statement.

are you saying this from OPT's point of view, inferring that OPT is now training its authorized installers?

or are you saying you are the only one in Texas under the new authorized installer program.

Well if you're in Texas you come to us if you want to apply or be involved with the Optimum system. Or from outside of Texas also.....or you can see Kevin with Klean Car in New Jersey. He will train people also.

If you're in my area of "service" here in Texas then you most likely will not be applying the Pro version. If you're outside my service area then you can apply to become that areas service provider.

There's gonna be some cool stuff coming, but more on that as the time comes.

First off, I know a few things about interiors and their stains, I have an excellent product for food based stains and several for dirt and grease. I use a wet dry vac for now and most try to do just the stain vs the whole carpet. I go through quite a few white terry cloth towels too. The extractor I want costs $2,000.00 and I refuse to spend less on an inferior machine. Crazy? Maybe, but every time I cheaped out or went for the "deal", I regretted it. Maybe my mother in law will feel generous, she certainly could afford it!

I currently have deal with a carpet cleaner business where they do the extraction and I do the dash, glass and plastics.

Even though I like to think of Autopia as an unbiased and organic discussion forum, I felt the need to edit a few people's comments regarding private installer pricing in an attempt to keep that info out of the public's view. As far as I know this info wasn't intended for the public's eyes and I'd like to keep it that way. I hope everyone understands.

In an effort to stay neutral and because I have quite a bit of respect for both Dr. G and his company, I will refrain from publicly voicing my opinion on the matter even though this change can/will affect my relationship with OPT ultimately. Bottom line is that Dr. G is a business man and made a business decision for the good of his company. We as business owners have the right to make decisions as well. We can either be willing to adapt to these changes or move in another direction all together. The choice is completely up to you.

I'm not frustrated because of forums, in fact I never read them anymore.....cept for the last day. I already noted that everyone has opinions yet if you don't care for something then don't use it.

I don't care for many products but I don't go around looking for opportunities to bad mouth them either.

Take care,

Anthony

Who is bad mouthing here? I've seen a lot of constructive criticism of the product and recommendations for alternatives. All valuable information to detailers.

If no one "bad mouthed" products how would we get opinions on them?

Galaxy™ 2000KX-HR

msrp is $2,150.00 and a local company carries these. It's a beast! But, the owner says they have never had one come back, and he dropped another more well known company because of warranty issues.

Oh wow.....I have in our shop that Galaxy's lil brother! It's been a great machine so far and we got it used. Shop around, try Ebay also.

Good luck,

As long as you be slinging polish Anthony, you can't afford to hire somebody to handle your day to day, STUFF ?

Sure.....but the phone always comes back to myself or my partner cause the person wants to ask certain questions that our helpers just can't respond to...yet.

The goal is to step back and manage the employees and business but that in itself is difficult because you want to double and triple check everything. It sucks overlooking something and then have the customer find it......ugh, most embarrasing!

Anthony, good to hear that ya'll are using that brand. Maybe I will get lucky and find one on eBay or the wife surprises me at Christmas - that would as Chevy Chase would say - I couldn't be more surprised if I woke up with my face sewed into the carpet.

First lesson in business, you ALWAYS take care of those who helped you get where you are.  My first distributor is my smallest distributor, but I treat them the same as every other distributor that I have.  Why?  It is because they took a chance on my when nobody else would.

One thing that always bothered me about OC2.0 is that there was no way to know if a car had it or not. That is where CQuartz was smarter and has a sticker provided with every kit of CQ Finest, regardless if you put it on the car or in the glove box.

The only thing that Optimum has done now is add confusion to their product line and chaos to themselves.

I think ONR, OPC and Opti-Lens are 3 of the best products in the industry so this isn't a bash on their products but on the business practices.  What they have done by continually increasing their prices, change product names and warranties is invite competition in.  That is the last thing that any successful company wants.

Wrong. Optimum OCP when properly applied by an authorized installer gets a window decal. The 2.0 does not, why? Cause it was intended for consumer use only.

The OCP sticker hasn't been part of the package for that long - at least not in the packages I received.

Nope, it hasn't. That was something that came out after CQF had been doing it for some time and was a suggestion by another installer if I'm not mistaken. ;)

See how confusing it is from a consumer standpoint......

This is why the steps have been taken to ensure that there is no more confusion. Besides, if a consumer, as in one who is going to a detailer and having a coating applied, no matter the type used, should be well educated as to what they are getting by the installer!

If you're a consumer paying for the Pro version you should be getting that version and also know what to expect from it. In our shop we actually recommend to many people NOT to get a coating applied because they have certain expectations of what it will do or how it will perform and they are unrealistic. Or we have guys that love polishing and waxing their cars and for them we recommend to not use a coating but rather go with a traditional polish and seal detail.

As Anthony stated, from a consumer's POV, it wasn't hard to understand at all.  When I applied 2.0 I knew what I was getting and what to and not to expect.  There use to be a furniture or suit store in our neck of the woods and every commercial ended...

At ___________, an educated consumer is our Best cutomer."
