NXT vs Zaino?

Well, I see it entirely different (although I've only ever used Zaino once) and NXT 2.0 is my wax of choice.

The looks are similar (as I don't think most can discern the difference between most LSP's). I've had NXT 2.0 on my ride for as long as 12-16 weeks without need to reapply.

Of course, durability cannot be viewed in a vacuum as it hinges on the environment the car is exposed to as well (ie: daily driver vs. garage queen). The only thing you get with Zaino is LESS long term slickness and a lighter wallet.

Oh and someone mentioned Collinite.... I'm in the middle of a 9 wax test right now, and Collinite 845 and NXT 2.0 are the clear winners so far. I'm not sure how the Collinite will last, but right now (after three weeks) it has the slickest surface, while the most expense wax in the test Victoria Wax Concours Red is certainly the worst.

There have been a couple threads on MOL about the differences between #21v2 and NXTv2. Unless someone isnt clear on the differences, they said they are pretty much the same other being able to apply #21v2 with a rotary. If thats the case then its just stuck in everyones head that nxtv2 doesnt last as long as other products.

But obviously there is SOMETHING that makes the 21 different, and it would make me wonder if that difference aids in durability (whether intended or not).

I tired to find this thread by "David KG" here but could not.

Zaino Water Behaviour - Detailing World

So - the car hasn't been washed for three weeks, parked at a beach at the weekend where it is blasted with salt air straight off the sea so fair to say that the paint was pretty manky. Nothing was beading water on this, as paint which is dirty will not bead, simple fact, as the water tension required is destroyed. But what I found a real eye opener was this comparison:

DSCF0769.jpg

Zaino on the right, NXT 2.0 on the left. On dirty unwashed paint, the effect of the Zaino sealent is still very clear over that of the NXT 2.0 with clear protection evident where as on the left you'd be forgiven for thinking nothing is there... The Zaino is not beading, but it is dispersing the water very effectively over another sealent which was commented on in the past for offering good beading. Both sealent layers here are 5 weeks old.

I am hazarding a guess that this water behaviour exhibited by the Zaino (and I should point out here that on another test panel, Bilt Hamber Autobalm provides quite a similar water dispersal effect and also shares the loose flat beading properties) is contributing to the fact that the Zaino treated side of the car is staying cleaner looking over a longer period of time as the dirt is less able to stick to it. Just a hypothesis here but one I thought would be interesting to share

Zaino Water Behaviour - Detailing World

worth pointing out that the Zaino used on this hood is NOT Z2 - it is a test sample of a new product.... No idea if that makes any difference though

I really liked the look of NXT v2 on my cars - had that nuba glow, and water really did seem to stay off the paint a little more. I dint test it to destruction but it performed admirably on my car last winter - easy to use, lovely look on the darkr colours :2thumbs:

Have Zaino now and also enjoying that...both very good products IMHO.

I'd be curious of the beading comparo when the surface is washed. Based on Dave's pics, the NXT side will dry virtually spotless, and the other will be spotty.

Hi, What about Duragloss 105? Anyone used it compared to NXT2.0, zaino? Some said that one is a Zaino with half the price? Is that true?

If you're going to compare a wax to a sealant I think collinite has to be included. But I like how good nxt looks just I don't use it because it's a never ending waxing season with nxt because of it's short life.

Strictly speaking, NXT is not a wax but a polymer sealant.

Used both quite a bit and I agree. No comparison. You're talking Chevy vs. Ferrari here (mass vs. boutique).

The new ZR1 Corvette will stomp an F430 at less than half the price... ;)

I've found Duragloss and Zaino products to be very similar, right down to the warning label about alphatic hydrocarbons and recommending 100% cotton towels for removal.

Is there some implication in that statement? ;)

True, but it will always be a Chevy. Hold that, who knows how long Chevy has left :).

With the money you save you can buy a second, one as a daily driver, one as a garage queen and still get to your destination faster!!! ;)

My car went thru Tropical Storm Fay for 3 straight days. My car was parked outside during the entire storm (11+ inches of heavy rain), and my car was last detailed with a coat Z-CS on top of a 2month layer of Z-5 w/ZFX almost a month ago.

When the storm finally passed the beading was not as tight as before, however the dirty finish was still kind of slick. I washed the car with ONR and reapplied Z-CS again... No more questioning about durability :chuckle:

Lucky I was not near the Jax northside where they had way more rain and flooding over there...

Try a coat of OCW over the Zaino if you like that nuba glow. It looks amazing over a coat of ZAIO and ZCS.

Did you form your opinion after only using it once? Zaino is MUCH slicker for much longer then NXT (the orginal verison made it about 2 weeks in Florida, the new version does last almost twice as long, closer to 4 weeks).

I have seen Zaino outlast anything out there and NXT is one of the most underwhelming products I have tried (though I personally love the 'candy shell' look). Once I did have the original version make it past a month, it was kind of wierd.

I know you are a Meguiars fan (and that is cool because I was to) but to say you get anything but a lighter wallet is hillarous. When you said less slick surface, what product are you comparing it too?
