New attitude toward.....MEGs.....NXT

I have come to realize that the most expensive or the most exotic LSP

Are,,,,,,,,WELL,,,,Most of the time they are not much better than your more

easy to find products.

I have been a detail geek,(like most of us here) for a log long long time.

I have tried the so called BEST- zaino, p21,one grand and so on And

so on AND I will continue to be a detail geek. But I must say....I think NXT

is hard to beat,It has become my favorite wax to use as of late. I know it

doesn't lasts as long as some or look as bright as others.....

BUT......for the price and how super easy it goes on and comes off And

it looks great on top of that....why waste the money on the big buck stuff.

And besides.......I usually wax every 3 to 4 weeks anyway, Just because

I enjoy it

I can wax my Whole truck with NXT in less than 30 minutes.

And I can wax my truck with, say, my all time favorite wax, MEGs #16

in about 2 or 3 hours, And yes it looks slightly better,But,MAN is 16 hard to use.

So just my two cents.......What are some of your most bang for the buck products ???

Eh, nxt is OK. The looks is nice no doubt but it won't last through a rain and even without rain it won't last longer than a week to a week and a half in my experience. Atleast its not as bad as gold class.

You'll wax one day with gold class and it will look amazing. Wake up the next day and it looks bleh.

Optiseal is like $5 more and will look better and last longer both in terms of protection and looks.

i have nxt, and im not crazy over it, durability wasnt good, and removal was kinda bad for me too.

i dont have vintage or anything comparable, but i will say in my findings from the lsp's ive bought, most of the time u pay for what u get IMO

I really like it (and #21)

-provides real environmental protection (have acid rain here and get water spots with Zaino)

-hides minor imperfections better than any other sealant I have used. Most sealants amplify swirls.

-Easy to find, easy to use

Yes, the looks fade but the protection does not. The NXT detailer brings them back after a wash. Not a scientific test by far, but I haven't used anything that is harder to get off rubber or pads. This stuff sticks to whatever it lands on.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has experienced poor durability in terms of its looks.

I will say that its extremely user friendly. I use to glob it on in the sun and leave it for hours and it still came off with ease and no streaking.

To be honest, if I wasn't such a pack rat and always justify in my head why I "may need it one day", I would get rid of like 90% of my lsps. I really don't see that big of a difference from wax to wax and sealant to sealant. My personal opinion, is that the thing that sets lsps apart is its ease of use, durability, ability to shed dirt, enviromental protection, etc. Basically everything but the actual look. The difference between most waxes (compared to other waxes) and most sealants (compared to other sealants) is so negligible that it doesn't really justify the cost of owning multiple lsps of the same type in my mind.

Here's an example, you got 4* UPP (3.0) and WG DGPS (3.0). Will you be missing anything by only owning one and not the other? Not at all. Some people say one looks better than the other on certain paints. IMO they're practically the same product. Wouldn't be surprised if they were. If there is a difference, its so small that by hand and eye I can't tell a difference at all.

I'm just rambling though.

Back on topic,

NXT is good, especially for being OTC, but there are better products out there in the same price range.

Are you guys talking about the old NXT or NXT 2.0? 2.0 is fantastic! Easy 4-5+ months durability for me, sheets water nice, looks great.

2 thin coats of NXT2.0 + a "coat" of UQD and washed with Meg's GC at least once a week is still going strong after 1.5 months. OOS will be here Monday though... :x

have NXT 2.0, have used it a long time, continue to use it on certain cars, continue to love it. $15 bucks locally, easy on and off, nice look, 3-5 months of protection.

No way you guys are getting 3, 4, or even 5 months from just an application of NXT.

In my experience its enviromental protection is somewhere around a 4-5. It didn't shed dirt well nor did it protect well from water spots/etching or bird bombs.

Are you guys judging its durability bu beading? And to go even further, are you maintaining with a QD like UQD or washing with a polymer wash like ONR. I think these can give you a false positive when judging durability.

When used alone it lasted less than 2 months, possibly even a month. I used it on a friends car that I didn't see until 2 months later. It wasn't garage kept. It was only washed once inbetween with gold class. When I got the car back there was nothing on the paint at all but contaminants.

I seem to be one of the exceptions here.

I had 2 coats of NXT 2 last through a rough winter, with occasional UQD.

I feel its one of the best "bang for the buck" products I have.

I get at least two months off of one application of NXT 2.0 i live on a dirt road and everything i have never had a problem with durability it does not look great after 4 weeks when it has been washed four times rained 5-6 times i think it is a great OTC product super easy to use and fairly inexpensive. By the way it keeps dirt off very well it sheets water very well i do not use a QD or UQD NEVER had a problem with water spots bird bombs came right off nothing to complain about and i do not wash it with a polymer wash i dont know what your doing Dsoto87

I rather use Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Wax than NXT now... Best bang for the wax would be Natty's Blue - which NXT can't compare with.

It takes you 2-3 hours to wax a car? Hahahahaha

It takes me 2 1/2 hours, minimum. Honestly, I don't know how someone can wax a car in 30 minutes and do a good job. I take my time and miss nothing.
