New attitude toward.....MEGs.....NXT

That seems to happen if it has not cured enough or is applied too thickly. I've found that reapplying very, very thinly and letting it set longer than you think is needed resolves that issue, even in high humidity. Do use the swipe test and then wait another 15 minutes.

Do the swipe test and then wait another 15 minutes! I think that is great advice. I suspect that most people do not allow NXT to dry long enough--hence the reported problems withs streaking.

It takes me 2 1/2 hours, minimum. Honestly, I don't know how someone can wax a car in 30 minutes and do a good job. I take my time and miss nothing.

I think I've waxed a car in about 15 min, 5 min on, sit for 5, and 5 to take it off.:dance :nana: Oh forgot to say its a Mini, so not much surface area.

I have mixed feelings about the NXT product line. When the original version came out I pounced on it, and was fairly impressed, although it doesn't last if you don't layer it.

Fast forward to present times, and I just got a tin of the 2.0 paste. Haven't used it on my garage queen black pick-up, but I put a coat of it on my DD motorcycle. I give it about a week for high wear areas (i.e. sides of the gas tank where my knees hold on, I ride a sport bike, not a harley); the rest of the bike I've yet to see how long it will last. The bike is garage kept, and whenever I park I always try to find shade even if I'm like a quarter mile from my destination. So we'll see. Honestly with the ease that this product has gone on and come off, I don't see it lasting too long, especially since I only did one coat. My favorite check is to wipe a clean diaper cloth over it. If it's still smooth, it's still on there. Collinite is next after the 2.0 wears off.

Well I have a coat of NXT on my car now. It has been on for a good 4-5 weeks and still beads water very very nicely! Like the day I put it on. I think the stuff is great but would love to try M21 to see how it compares.

Eh, nxt is OK. The looks is nice no doubt but it won't last through a rain and even without rain it won't last longer than a week to a week and a half in my experience. Atleast its not as bad as gold class.

You'll wax one day with gold class and it will look amazing. Wake up the next day and it looks bleh.

I get several months with NXT - both with v1 and v2.

What does it rain in SF? Battery acid? :)

NXT is stunning until you wash it.

Time to change your car shampoo. :nana:

Are you guys talking about the old NXT or NXT 2.0? 2.0 is fantastic! Easy 4-5+ months durability for me, sheets water nice, looks great.

Me too.

No way you guys are getting 3, 4, or even 5 months from just an application of NXT.

In my experience its enviromental protection is somewhere around a 4-5. It didn't shed dirt well nor did it protect well from water spots/etching or bird bombs.

Are you guys judging its durability bu beading? And to go even further, are you maintaining with a QD like UQD or washing with a polymer wash like ONR. I think these can give you a false positive when judging durability.

When used alone it lasted less than 2 months, possibly even a month. I used it on a friends car that I didn't see until 2 months later. It wasn't garage kept. It was only washed once inbetween with gold class. When I got the car back there was nothing on the paint at all but contaminants.

I apply two coats an hour apart. I get similar durability - 3-5 months.

I seem to be one of the exceptions here.

I had 2 coats of NXT 2 last through a rough winter, with occasional UQD.

I feel its one of the best "bang for the buck" products I have.

Ditto.

I rather use Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Wax than NXT now... Best bang for the wax would be Natty's Blue - which NXT can't compare with.

Nattys doesn't last half as long as NXT for me.

I bought a bottle of NXT when it came out. I loved the look but found it only lasted a week, 2 at tops. After I ran out, bought another on clearance for $3. I keep thinking of using it, but always grab #26 instead. I can get 2 months from 2 coats of 26.

If #26 lasts longer than NXT you're doing something wrong. Even Megs confess #26 has poor duability.

Honestly, if you have to apply Collinite over NXT ( or any product), to make it last, because the durability is so poor.. why bother with said product?:think:

He's being facetious. :chuckle:

Just finished doing the NXT 2.0 paste wax on my car. It was quite humid out so it took it awhile to set up. It came off decently well, the foam applicator it came with is trash IMO. It left a slight oily residue on the car that would not come up. I can see it under direct light reflections. I am going to use Collinite next time and just use this stuff on random cars.

I will give it the benefit of the doubt and try it again when the humidity is lower.

If you apply less or leave it to haze for an hour or more you shouldn't have issues.

Spot on.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks this stuff is a waste of time.

Yes. It goes on easy. Yes it looks nice when your done. But it lasts about as long as me sleeping an 8 hour night.

I have some left. But I'll save it for the kids bike.

I'll stick with Natty's and Zaino.

I routinely get 3-4 months from NXT 2.0 on my DD which is garaged nights. We get most of our power from a couple of coal fired power plants so lots of acid rain here. I also see severe winters with lots of salt and chemical substitutes on the roads. NXT protects my paint about as well as anything I've used. For me, NXT 2.0 clearly handles my environment better than Natty's. I like Natty's for its looks but IMO, it sure doesn't hold up well around here.

I've used both versions and also found poor durability. The old version was put on some lot cars that sat outside 24/7. Initial looks, ease of use and hiding abilities were very good.

Come back a couple weeks later to wash the cars and it is mostly gone on the tops and the sides still showed beading.

I only use it now for quick shine customers.

I have experienced great results with it. Application and removal is so easy, durability is pretty damn impressive and the looks are wonderful. It is literally the easiest wax/sealant to apply and remove I have ever used! It smells pleasant and the consistency is perfect for even and thin coverage. Water beading is extremely beautiful.

All that being said, I would rather use M16. It lasts longer, is very easy to apply and not too difficult to remove if done thin and removed with a moist Ultimate Wipe (primed with QD). Water beading is the best I've seen and durability is super impressive.

It's all very curious to me. How is it that some folks experience good durability from NXT (two to four months) and others experience poor durability (two to four weeks). This doesn't make any sense to me. Clearly there is more going on here than different application methods or different environmental conditions. I am at a loss to explain this curious phenomenon.

I've also thought it was very odd that people have found NXT to wash off in the rain and have sub-par durability when IME it has wonderful durability and relentlessly beads water. :nixweiss

I can't figure it either.

I can understand if acid rain conditions reduce the durability of ALL sealants used to a similar degree, but only NXT and the no others effected makes no sense to me. :wall

Did you guys read the entire thread? There are two versions. v1.0 was the release version that had poor durability, v2.0 is more recent and has been giving people better results.

True, but 4-5 months out of 2.0 is poppycock.

I get 4 months and that's not poppycock.

Don't forget that he lives in CA. Last time I flew into LAX I thought the plane was going to dissolve as it plunged through the smog on it's way in. I don't think any wax will last there. LOL:D

When I left LA, I was frightened. I no longer could see the air I was breathing and worried that it wasn't there. :chuckle:

As I previously mentioned, NXT 2.0 gives me 3-4 months too.

I've never left it for more than 2 months but it has preformed perfectly for such a super-cheap sealant. With application and removal being such a breeze I find myself reach for it on customer's cars.

That being said I still like M16 more...
