New attitude toward.....MEGs.....NXT

Add me to the camp that gets good durability from NXT 2.0. It's so easy to apply and remove that waxing is a simple issue. Paint stays clean and slick. Bugs and bird bombs rinse right off. Great OTC product at $12-$14.

i agree for OTC. you can't beat it for a quick and easy product for my garage queens. IW845 on DD. :2thumbs:

It takes me 2 1/2 hours, minimum. Honestly, I don't know how someone can wax a car in 30 minutes and do a good job. I take my time and miss nothing.

What are you waxing, airplanes? I hope that 2.5 hours includes cure time or something

for me, nxt 2.0 combined with meg's UQW is like a winning combo. and for kicks, i use meg's UQD as every now and then.

i have not tested the durability, but when I wash my car with ONR, its pretty slick. and the moment i feel a hint of slickness loss, i break out the UQW. 10 minutes later, life is good again haha

I bought a bottle of NXT when it came out. I loved the look but found it only lasted a week, 2 at tops. After I ran out, bought another on clearance for $3. I keep thinking of using it, but always grab #26 instead. I can get 2 months from 2 coats of 26.

....I tried the original when it first came out and wasn't too impressed. The durability was weak and I found traces of oily-like streaking under certain lighting conditions (this was on black). I don't know how much of an improvement the 2.0 is over the initial variant, but I don’t think I will be trying it anytime soon. In my continual search for a better mainstay LSP, I've been playing with Opti-Seal for the past few months. If the durability proves to be adequate, OS will likely be my new "go to" sealant (replacing Zaino). You can’t beat the ease of use of a WOWA product.

btw, I'm a long time enthusiast (~25 years) and enjoy spending time in garage as much as the next guy. However, I would rather spend that detailing time actually working on and refining the "details" rather than having to re-apply a weak performing product to protect the finish.

I like #26 and use it often. I also switched from using UQD to Ultimate Quik Wax, as it is just about the same time for application time and provides better durability and looks.

+1. I too think NXT 2.0 is an amazing product. Esp for being OTC. You can get it for around $13 with a free carwash sample at our neighborhood Lowe's. Goes on easy and comes off quick. Durable. Hard to differentiate from my more expensive product. Can't go wrong with it.

Wax durability depends on a lot of factors. For those of us who wax a panel at a time after each washing, it's no big deal.

I so many layers of Meg's #21 on my Mustang GT that it actually repels rain clouds and thunderstorms when I take her out for a drive. I put the car away for winter, that's why we have snow in New England! :LOLOL:LOLOL:LOLOL

If you want NXT to last put Collinite over it.

Honestly, if you have to apply Collinite over NXT ( or any product), to make it last, because the durability is so poor.. why bother with said product?:think:

Same thing on my friend's black Maxima.. oily wetting agents in NXT give some look, but it can streak and they evaporate in 1-2 weeks , or after a wash.

Well, NXT is pretty much like a glaze-oily and short lived.

It seems that everyone that has a problem with NXT used it when it first came out. The people that have used the newer version (2.0) state that most of the problems (durability) with the release version have been corrected. I used it when it first came out as well and noticed the durability was very poor.

I just picked up some of the paste 2.0 and will be giving it a shot. My first time back with a synthetic wax in a few years.

im not going to lie, NXT is great but its not the best as far durability and longevity. I use it on my DD pickup truck which gets regular washing. Beading/protection last about 2months max.

Just finished doing the NXT 2.0 paste wax on my car. It was quite humid out so it took it awhile to set up. It came off decently well, the foam applicator it came with is trash IMO. It left a slight oily residue on the car that would not come up. I can see it under direct light reflections. I am going to use Collinite next time and just use this stuff on random cars.

I will give it the benefit of the doubt and try it again when the humidity is lower.

That seems to happen if it has not cured enough or is applied too thickly. I've found that reapplying very, very thinly and letting it set longer than you think is needed resolves that issue, even in high humidity. Do use the swipe test and then wait another 15 minutes.

I like the stuff as it is easy to apply, and easy to remove. I get three months in my environment. I've now taken to using UQW after every wash so it makes little difference to me how long it lasts as UQW will keep the protection refreshed indefinitely.
