Menzerna FMJ

Yes, the hard clear is tuff. In fact, Menzerna uses the new polish for this type of finish while it's still warm in curing. This way, it's more malleable and easier to manage.

I did one SL600 that one dealer got in. In Greenwich, anything is possible! Even with all the covers and protection, it still got small damage. I took my time and it looks as if someone put a mirror on wheels! I wish I had my camara, but the damn wife had it that day and I was so pissed that I almost purchased another just so I could get the shots!

One day I have to re-visit that sick car! V12 in an SL500 body is just sick-sick-sick! AMG's is going to be just insane!

Deanski

BillD,

You're gonna need the Menzerna designed for it if it's a good scratch, otherwise, be prepaired to wear that pad down to a nub!:p

I have to look at the product guide to tell you which one it is as all product in storage area at shop. Like gold this stuff.

DACP, Meguiars Polishing Pad and a rotary also work well on CeramiClear, according to Mike Phillips. My understanding is that PPG did work with 3M and Meguiars to make sure while their paint was hard, it wasn't so hard it can't be corrected.

I have a customer with a black S500 with CeramiClear and even now that the car is about 8 months old and only waxed twice (since it seems to rain every darn weekend now when I am supposed to clean his cars), and the lack of cobwebbing is amazing.

Scottwax,

That sounds very close to the condition of this car but I have seen a light scratch in it in poor lighting already

Those using FMJ...Are you having any problems using the glaze?

Wouldn't understand why the Glaze wouldn't. Why would they create a kit that doesn't work correctly? I've seen some results and it looks pretty good. I know FMJ is made by a smaller firm, but Menzerna wouldn't combine different products in their kits that wouldn't bond nicely ;)

Don't be so sure of that. Just use common sense. You're applying a sealant over a glaze. Do you think it should bond? I don't, unless the sealant is not really a sealant, just oil (ala WG).

is totally (like totally :lol) compatable with FMJ it's designed to work with it and the directions that came with my kit say it specifically designed to work with FMJ.

Don't be so foolish. Meguiars also says NXT is made of sythetic engineered polymers. Is it really? No, it's made of silicone. Nothing groundbreaking. Both NXT and WG are supposed to last for months. Do they? No.

Don't take everything at face value, especially in today's age of con job detailing products.

How do you figure Wolfgang is "just oil"??

I have the product, never tried it though...just curious.

Curious to see if that slickness lasts past one or two washes. Also interested to see if my FMJ lasts at least two-three months.

Bill,

I liked the looks of the original Platinum UPP, but I think that was just an oil type product too that didn't last. Blackfire/UPP seem to be products of this nature, and now perhaps Wolfgang by your characterization.

I have spend my money of FMJ, so I have nothing to gain in defending it, but do you think it is a similar product? Some are dubbing it a true sealant, but it seems pretty similar to these other oil products. Will have to experiment and admittedly, I have yet to really use the product on more than just my trunklid.

I hope it lasts longer than these other products, because CMA keeps releasing very promising products that don't seem to live up in the durability department!

Is FTG full of silicones? If so, then we could reasonably use any glaze we want underneath FMJ. Or we could put FMJ reasonably over Klasse AIO. Very curious as to how FMJ is different from past CMA products.

WG is classified as an 'oil in water emulsion'. Indeed it does have oil. So much so that it is incredibly slippery at first and it can fill swirls. But the slipperyness and swirl filling only last for a brief period of time (1 week). This tells me that the oil was washed away/evaporated like a typical glaze.

For a sealant, WG is a disappointment in the durability dept. I would never use it as a winter sealant. Maybe in the summer, only if I really liked the look above everything else out there.

respectfully disagree on UPP. That was the first sealant I ever used (combined with AIO as a base). The slickness was there from start to finish (this was all by hand before I got my PC and Rotary). Granted these days I don't keep product on my car for longer than a month before I get the strip and try urge - but my first winter with the TL-S was AIO, UPPx3 and Poorboy's Spray and Wipe to keep it clean when I could not wash and there was almost no loss of slickness come spring...

that is my experience with it at least :)..still one of my favorites if not the favorite so far...

I'm very much looking forward to your review, honestly.

I don't mean to come off like a p#ick, or know-it-all. My reviews are just that, one opinion. But I find that I am getting different results from the vast majority of posters on the site. A little frustrating I guess. There was a time when my experiences were the same as the other forum members.
