Scott,

What Tire Dressing did you use on the Black BMW in the pictures?

Nascar Ultra Shine Tire Finish. Been on sale at Big Lots by me for the last few months. $3 for a 32 oz bottle, which works out to a bit less than $18 per gallon.

The one single product that I continue to wish for. Oh well, I'll just order another gallon of FK425 as it has become a one step interior/glass product and it's a WHOLE lot cheaper that way.

Well, QID cleans and leaves protection with a matte finish, and #40 is available in gallons and also cleans and leaves protection with a matte finish.

IMO #40 is the answer to those who want QID in gallons.

I don't find them to be similar at all (other than description) in use. #40 does *way* more cleaning whereas QID does very little cleaning. The smell of QID is also much more pleasant. They've lost me on not making this product available in gallons.

Darn it... I still have like 95% of 64oz M21 left. I am really curious to see the difference between the 2.0 and the 1.0, someone please do a side by side test.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't get what the big deal is about QID. A slightly damp mf towel has about the same amount of cleaning power and leaves a clean, matte looking finish. You just don't get the eucalyptus smell, which doesn't smell all that great and doesn't linger all that long to begin with. The only advantage I see that it has is perhaps whatever amount of UV protection it actually leaves behind. But that's what I have dressing for.

Sometimes I wonder if people are so used to spraying some product on first before wiping that they don't think just simply wiping down still works? On the paint, I can understand why someone would want that extra lubrication between their towel and the paint, but you don't need that on interior plastics.

But even if QID does less cleaning, so what? #40 will still leave behind a really nice (one of my favorite interior products because I hate greasy interiors) matte finish.

It is just as easy IMO to spray on some #40 and wipe off as it is to spray on some QID and wipe off.

A pro version of UQD @ 20 bucks a gallon?

Sorry Duragloss, you just got Pwnd!

edit- I just re-thought this statement and I think pwnd is a strong word. It is a very competitive price point though...

correction: the M135 Synthetic Spray Detailer is $29.00 a gallon. basically the same price for a gallon of AW ($29.99) at AG, and with the 10% discount it comes to $26.99...

Doesn't all of Meguiar's waxes and sealants contain some sort of cleaner solvent so layering is basically useless?

I asked that question on MOL today, and the answer back from Meguiar's was

"What line is M21 in?"

"What kind of work is usually performed by the people this line is distributed into?"

Two very non-answers if you ask me. In all fairness Meguiar's M21 and NXT are both good and my expectatiosn for version 2.0 of these products are high.
My feet have been set on the right path by M. Phillips, and all of my questions have been answered and it NXT 2.0 for me.

When this thread was first created, the price was posted as $19.00 for 1 gallon. I guess it was a misprint.

Sh*t's weak.

UQD doesn't hold a candle to AW, I was looking at it as a quick detailer to "replace" FC&S. It isn't as good as FC&S but for 20 bucks a gallon it was a decent alternative. I think I'll pass @ 30.

I guess I could test it to find out. :nixweiss

It's not a big deal, Scott. I know a lot of people complained about NXT staining trim but it was never much of an issue for me. I just stay away from trim while applying an LSP, unless it's something like Opti-Seal. I'm mostly wondering what attributes of NXT have been improved since I've always had a soft spot for the original.

while both are excellent products, AW is more durable ime. i think of UQD as more of a QD on steroids then anything. still not a bad product though...

as i posted... at AG you can get a gallon of AW for $26.99 (after the 10% discount) which is a great deal imo (still a good price even at the regular price of $29.99). which by the way, i just checked my current stock and am running low so i'll have to order a gallon soon... :D
