Meguiar's New Product 2008 Announcements

Go for it. I am curious to see how they compare. I think several of the forum members were testing the new Megs LSP. I know Scottwax was one of them. I believe it was NXT V2.

Yes, from what I read, the sample wax I was sent is NXT v2. Really deep, wet look, beads like crazy and at the 5-6 week point now on my customer's cars and my own (well, until mine was wrecked!) the paint still feels very slick.

When I washed this BMW last week, 4 weeks after applying NXT v2, the slickness was as good as any quality LSP immediately after application. If long term testing shows the look and slickness hold up well, I think a lot of boutique waxes/sealants are going to be looking over their shoulder and not happy with what they see.

More UV protection for Meguiars Interior QD is also a nice addition. I have several customers who love the 'new' look you get from it. Plus it make simple dash/console wipedowns even better.

Doesn't all of Meguiar's waxes and sealants contain some sort of cleaner solvent so layering is basically useless?

I don't think they all contain cleaners, but form what I remember reading from Mike, Megs aren't proponents of layering (in the sense that it'll add more protection) but do say that two coats is good for even coverage of the LSP.

I'm probably set for life with LSP's, but I'll pick up NXT 2.0 to try after I use up my first tin/bottle of what I have already. Which ironically looks like it'll be the original NXT.

I think it was George Carlin that said, "How can something be both new and improved at the same time?" Think about it.

Well I've never bothered with meg's LSP's as the autopia snubbed sealers that I use are working terrific.

This extra cut of theirs is only 1200 grit, that's powerful but not super strong

I thought it would be like 800 to 1000 grit

Will stick to HTEC 600 grit, PG, SFX 1, G Techniq P1 and Permagard.

I think only UQD has interested me enough to buy it but I am worried about the IPA content)

Once I get some more FK1 425 and Aussie gold, I'll do a big test between those, DG FC&S and Driven's Quick spray and see who wins out in each category

(towel, foam pad and machine use, slickness, finish enhancement, swirl hiding/removal), sheeting, durability)

Will be putting my money on Aussie, FK1 & Driven for the podium positions.

It's got BEER in it!?! Sweet Jesus 20 bucks a gallon is looking better and better. :chuckle: :chuckle:

In serious news, I've been using my UQD more and more (I hated it at first) and I've been liking it but it's expensive and now I've discovered it's absolutely a feast for bugs. I got out of work yesterday and my car is literately crawling with gnats and other little critters. I hope the Pro version doesn't have the sickly sweet smell.

It just sounds good and people buy into it and they make a profit:think2

Well, they've been editing the threads over there in the New Product Forum to remove the off-topic posts and not dilute the new product message, I guess.

If 21 and NXT are as "hydrophobic" as that little clip they showed of UQD then I will try it I guess. With this drought we got going on down here, I guess it really doesnt matter how "hydrophobic" it is anyway. We need rain like crazy...I havent washed either one of my cars for some time now.

From what I've read elsewhere it seems as if it isn't only cleaners and microabrasives that are the issue in non layering. It seems as if the ingredients used for lubrication and spreadability cause amino functional polymers to be non layering as well. It seems as if for true layering ability that the product needs to have a polymer based lubrication system.

If you guys want. I am not shilling. I can do a side by side test between NXT and NXT V2. I have a black Jeep. Just let me know how you want me to do it. Currently it's wearing Danase wet glaze and paint sealant. I could do a IPA wipe down and go from there?!?!

Again, I do not want this to come across as a shill. Last time I mentioned the product it didn't go over too well. Just trying to help out.

I'd like to see a comparo. :)

1z Lakfinish acts the same way. I only use it from mid to late autumn until maybe mid spring. It doesn't really have a sweet smell to it, so it must be some other attraction to it.

One time, before I had a garage, I woke up one morning and found birds on my roof having an early breakfast of dead bugs :nervous2:

Glad to see they brought back teh Ultimate Wipe, wonder how it compares to the older version with the black border. That is my favorite cloth for removing polish, still have a few of them.

Actually they have a gallon size "Hyper-Dressing" which actually reduces down around 4:1 I just picked up some and Im in love. at $20 a gallon (at 4 to 1 its more like $5) and it does everything from interiOr plastic to tires plus it has a "pleasent herbal fragrance which creates a pleasant working environment". You can also control the gloss from neutral all the way up to high gloss (for those wholesale accounts) and you still get the UV protection.

Now if they'd just come out with GALLON sizes of the Quik Interior Detailer...

The one single product that I continue to wish for. Oh well, I'll just order another gallon of FK425 as it has become a one step interior/glass product and it's a WHOLE lot cheaper that way.

That wouldn't bother me a bit. Two thin layers to ensure complete coverage is fine with me. I really don't get the whole layering fetish and I've never seen with my own eyes any benefit beyond two applications.
