I tend to purchase products which are recommended here often, so I've not been REALLY disappointed in any products I've purchased in the last 1 1/2 years, it's just been an ongoing process of finding which products I like best.
Having said that, there are some products that didn't really impress me (time to put on my flame proof suit). Four products that fall into this group for me are Poorboys BNB and Super Slick and Suds and Zaino Clay and Z5 sealant.
I know that BNB is popular with many Autopians, it is very well priced and it is water based, but compared to Zaino Z16 or AA I just do not think it performs. Coverage is blotchy, the look is not as clean as other dressings and durability is not up there with the best, even for water based dressings.
Second Up, PB's S&S car wash .. again it is not a bad product but IMHO for the money, NXT or EO car wash offer a much better value.
The best thing I could say about the Zaino clay is that is is fairly well priced. For the $18 or so, you do get two bars in a nice plastic jar. Problems is my two yellow bars were as hard as rock; so hard I had to put them in the microwave to soften them up enough to use. I'm back to using Blue Magic and now Sonus clays.
Zaino Z5 .. what can I say. It's a nice sealant on darker colors because it is less shiney than Z2 or Z2 Pro, but as a fix for swirls? Please! I hope the talk of a Zaino beta paint cleaner or polish are true because Z5 is a VERY poor substitute for proper prep. In the absence of new prep products, I'd like to see Sal come out and just recommend third party polishes, which will not cause bonding issues with Z2.
That's about it for me. I'm fairly comfortable sticking to the many products, which are regularily recommended here in Autopia; on the whole, they perform as reviewed and I rarely feel like I've been ripped off.
Credit to DavidB, the mods and senior members for allowing us to honestly recommend and review any products we like, free of the kind of pressure to conform or support one vendor that I often sense on other forums.
