honda or toyota?

Edit. I thought better of taking this too far OT. All I will say is I own an RSX-S along with my G35, and a higher redline does not a sports car make. A flat curve from 2400-6600 is much more desirable than a curve that peaks and remains flat from only 5500-8000 redline. You might be talking about HP, in which case the VQ peaks around 5000, but there is no drop until within 100 rpms of redline. And please try to be a little less condscending with the marketing comments in the future. Remember, these are forums, and you don't know everything. Assuming everyone who likes the VQ has been fooled by Mr. Nismo is a little short-sighted.

Oh, but you have me horribly mistaken. I do actually know everything. :wall

Porsche has made its fair share of mistakes. ;)

Their new engines aren't one of them. :woohoo: How can anybody compare Nissan to Porsche? Well, lets disregard things that don't come to our shores.

Honda == reliable, safe, slightly flimsy, engine's go for ever but you need to rev the hell out of them to get anything

QUOTE]

I was very surprised at the increased hp & torque, solid feel of the 2006 Civic line. I have a 2005 Civic and I agree with your 'slightly flimsy' comment, however, it appears Honda is making their 06's more sturdy, and the increased 'get-up-n-go' is nice.

All I was saying is there are currently more low-revving porsche engines than high revving ones. I wouldn't compare Porsche to Nissan as a whole. That would be just nutty. ;)

Well spoken. :lol

I have my first Honda ... and my first brand new car ... and I'm not all that impressed with the interior build quality. At more times than I'd like, it's a rattle box ... very disappointing :(

Take it back and tell the dealer about it. If they don't fix the rattles go into the dealer and ask to use the phone. Have the Honda corporate number handy. Call and ask if it's normal for their cars to rattle when their new. I PROMISE you will get it fixed ASAP!!

I wish it was that easy. It HAS been back to the dealer 5 times (the fifth time took a complaint letter to the dealer's general manager). Still wasn't fixed, so I took it a sixth time and the factory rep and the service manager drove with me in the car. They heard the roof rattle I've been complaining about (think geiger counter going off, and you've got a good idea), and the factory rep said it was the road's fault and not the car's because he didn't hear the rattle on a small stretch of newly paved, flat, straight road. He jokingly said he'd buy me a CD so that I wouldn't hear the noise.

So, the dealer won't do anything more. Honda Customer Service took a month to respond to my case (after repeated phone calls on my end), and they said that there was nothing abnormal with the car and that nothing would be done. I've now opened a case with the BBB Auto Line to see where we can go from here.

And now my front windows are making this rubbing sound as well ...

I've had my parents love for Toyotas run into my head and stay there.

So Toyota for me.

Honda- Can't really build automatics too well, great horsepower, not much torque, cheap interior, IMO

Toyota- Great torque, dies at the top of the rev band, very nice interior, some are bland exterior, though.

I still don't like the Accord too much but the 2006 change made it look much better (atleast from the 2006 EX-V6 I saw the other day)

Toyotas have been trying to get rid of the blandness in their line. Look at the new RAV4, perhaps the 2007 Camry, the IS250/350 and the GS.

Hondas seem more 'cutting-edge' to me, with their high-tech engines and awesome efficiency. Their interiors don't dissapoint me, especially our Pilot's and the Accord's are very nice IMO. Also, the suspensions feel 'sportier', and they have some road noise issues.

Toyotas seem more 'old-school' but very solid technology. Their 4-bangers can't match Honda, but their new 3.5L V6 is sweet, especially compared to the old sludgemonster 3.0L. Fit & finish match Hondas, IMO, but the materials feel a little bit more 'durable.' Suspension is set for comfort and isolation; road noise is minimal.

I'd take a Honda manual tranny over a Toyota's anyday, but for automatics it's a tough call; Honda doesn't have a great reputation for autos...

Both brands are meticulously engineered, and it just comes down to whatever you like best:)

agreed. it seems there are more aftermarket parts (for the tuners) for honda's as well....

Honda IMO for many reasons....

Toyotas are great if you arent a "driver"....I get really sick of Toyota always taking center stage on this whole "reliability" thing...alot of that stems from years when many other companies were making some Grade A crap so it wasnt hard to one up them...now that others have progressed very far(and will continue to do so) the gap has been narrowed. Toyota will for quite awhile live in the rumors that they are SO superior to other cars (same reason people are sold on Bose audio:))

All in all, I am really an American car guy but Honda tugs at the "drivers" heart strings and has done a good job as staying a more traditional Japanese company...Toyota has Americanized itself beyond belief to sell cars in the worlds biggest market....America.

new Camry SE

I picked it up 5 days ago

Honda all the way.

Toyota didnt put a stick in thier new IS350. But they put one in the 250 ***?

Toyota doesnt have a stick available with the new camry V6.

Honda is generally more sporty and have all versions available with sticks. Honda is more of a drivers company IMO. But yes thier lineup is mostly underpowered and the lack of torque gets annoying in everyday city driving trying to keep the rpms low.

I am generally a domestic car buyer but, I have had many Honda motorcycles over the years and I have NEVER had a bit of trouble with any them. They are rock solid reliable and will last forever if you take care of them.

I am NOT a fan of Toyota at all. Lots of you seem to hate the business practices of WalMart. Take a look at Toyota and the way they treat their "temporary" employees. It is pretty much the same way as WalMart treats their part-timers. I am not going to go into it here but, do a Google search and you will find plenty of articles on the subject. Use the search terms "Toyota" and either "temporary employees" or "health care".

If I were to buy a foreign car or truck in the future it would be a Honda.
