Goodbye Tacoma...

i have a 05 tundra sr5, my avatar, and love it and it has hauled anything i have wanted to haul. if you look at 04 - 06 tundras, make sure that the ball joint recall is done and the bushing in the rack and pinion is not wore out.

Okay, on your advice I am back in "my thread." :D
Finally, someone's listening ! :wall :D
I can only say that I thought I was going to get that bright blue color, but after looking at other vehicles in the lot I saw a red I really liked. So.... I have them looking for a Tacoma in that color now. They're going to be so tired of seeing me by the time I finally decide.

So, I may really need some Natty's red... :)
Going with a new one then? How equipped? Good luck, hope they find what you want soon, priced like you like.

How has the dealership experience been thus far? Is it apparent that they are anxious to sell a unit?

Yeah, it will be a new one I suppose. I just can't find anything that's that great of a deal used in the year range I was looking. I can get a brand new one for just a little more dough. As far as equipment, I am pretty easy to please. I have asked for leather and other than that it comes with most everything else I would ask them to put on it. I might get me some step tubes to try and help avoid door dings, but I won't be getting them at the dealer.

As far as the dealership experience - I am really surprised. No one has gave me the ole routine about about you better do something today or the interest rates (3.65% @60 months right now) are going back up (or the rebates go away, or someone else is wanting to buy this truck, etc). I actually have one person I spoke with at a Chevrolet dealer that got my cell number and has not even bothered to call me back. So it seems like the dealerships are not too desperate to sell - maybe they are playing hard to get.

I seriously cannot believe that the guy at the Chevy place has not even called. I thought about calling him up and telling him I dropped about 40K on a loaded Silverado Z71 at the competing Chevy dealership in the next town.

And as far as American made vehicles - the Chevy was the least American made of them all. It was xxxembled in Mexico (like the Tacomas now are) but I want to say that it did not even have 50% American and Canadian parts on it. I could be wrong about that.

The search has been a different experience to say the least - I figured the dealers would be falling over themselves to try and sell a truck to a guy with a wad of cash in hand. Guess not.

EDIT: Owned by the profanity filter. Haha. xxxembled.

.

That is hard to believe! These car dealers are HURTING!

At Cable-Dahmer Chevrolet in KC, they have 30 brand new Vettes that have been sitting there for SIX MONTHS!!!!

If I were that guy, I'd be taking you to lunch, wining and dining you, and offering an 8-grand discount!!!!!!!!:yay Oh well... maybe he's independently wealthy and doesn't need your commission!!!:rofl:lol2::rofl:lol2:

I know. I really just can't believe it. I mean, I talked to the guy and test drove a fully loaded out Z71 and told him that I liked the truck. Maybe he didn't take me seriously or something. I really am thinking about writing a letter or Email to the dealership just to let them know that I am a bit disappointed in their lack of attention to a customer.

it's after 10 here...much closer to lunch :D

JP, count me surprised. I doubt the wine and dine scenario :), and the "this one won't be here tomorrow" spiel, but a genuine (as opposed to the rehearsed) "what can we do to win your business" question (as opposed to sales pitch) would be common place right now.

Perhaps one thing that prevents them from being overly anxious is that you are looking at a segment of the industry that is still seems to be selling well as compared to the rest of the lines. Even still, moving a unit off the books sounds like a good thing.

If it is any consolation, there are any real "steals" on p/u trucks (new or used) here either. Continued good luck in your search though.:bigups
