Glass, not Windex please!

Stoners invisible glass (avail: Target) Eagle One 20/20, Spraway Glass cleaner are all great glass cleaners for home or auto. Sprayway is my favorite, but usually have stoners IG just because it is easily available.

Windex is GARBAGE.

Whoa, is Stoners Invisible Glass seriously available at Target?!

I believe Invisible Glass is CFC free. IG is a good glass cleaner along with Sprayway. IG can be ordered directly from Stoner by the case, and they pay shipping. The towel has a lot to do with the results; as many have stated.

You can find IG and just about any retail store... that's another plus if you happen to run into a glass cleaner emergency!

Has anyone tried to the DP Krystal Vision glass cleaner?

That is what I use. I love it. Works great with Cobra MF glass towels. I use this on the inside of the car. Outside I use QuickShine or VM.

i haven't used the Meg stuff yet, but I know that the Autoglym GP is amazing at cleaning, however if over used can cause some dust. I've used Stoners and Eagle 20/20 with good results, also used Zep, Auto Magic, and some other brands. I agree with the towels comment, if you use crap towels, you get crap results. Also, I'm a firm believer in soaking a window well if it has heavy film on it. (smoke or hasn't been cleaned in a while) I also am a fan of the wet towel/dry towel method.

+1 on the Meguiar's Detailer Line Glass Cleaner. It's going to take forever to use up this gallon. I've been diluting it at the recommended strength on the bottle and although just by looking at it or smelling it you wouldn't think the product has the strength to clean windows well (it looks almost too diluted), it actually does a very good job at it while being streak free (using the 2 MF towel method, 1 wet 1 dry). IMO, it works just as well if not better than Stoner's Invisible Glass at a fraction of the cost, and I think Stoner's IG is a very good glass cleaner.

When I detailed my neighbor's car, she was super anal about certain things so she took it upon herself to clean some of the windows and she even commented how amazing it was for a glass cleaner.

I'm curious to know if anyone's tried Duragloss' glass cleaner. Does anyone know if the gallon size is diluted or a concentrate? So far it seems like Duragloss is a sleeper hit and I'm planning on switching to their line of products.

Where can you get the Mequiar's glass cleaner, is it sold in any of the major stores like WM, Target, Etc,?

Is the gallon jug a "Concentrate", sinse you say you dilute it.

BigJim, No on the glass problems, the Stoners is the best thing I have ever used, but I have only ever used windex, which I gave away to a pretty needy family locally.

Since this would be the first departure from Windex, I wanted to try the Meg's NXT on one frame of the sliding door and the Stoners on the other frame at the same time. This would give about the best review anyone could want because of the extreme weather conditions that they are used to getting!

I didn't realize it wasn't available locally so I guess I wasted a lot of travel time in trying to find it.

One of the guys quoted that it was extremely economical so I wanted to give it a real world test that I consider "The Ultimate", on my sliding doors especially since the worst is now in progress (winter)!

There are a couple of family's in my area that are having some financial difficulties so this would also be a boon to those guys. You wouldn't know it exactly to see the homes, but that is how it is, and it doesn't hurt a dam one of us to give when it is necessary!!

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out and see what I can come up with.:thx

Since they were closed I did a search and started coming up with some very high prices.

Just what/how much are you guys paying for a gallon/quart/pint whatever of the concentrate??

One person talks about how cheap it is, now I find myself running into prices that are anything but cheap!:wow:

Whats going on?

I bought a gallon of concentrate from Meg's and I believe it cost $18. 1 gallon of concentrate makes 11 gallons of cleaner. That makes it $1.64 per gallon of glass cleaner. Hard to beat that price. Also had to beat the performance.

I have given bottles of this cleaner to friends, neighbors and relatives and they all come back asking for more. I still have over a half gallon of concentrate left.

I had to make up separate bottles of this for my wife so I wouldn't have to go searching for it when I do the cars. Wife loves it. Best mirror cleaner she has ever used, she tells me. She uses it on all the household glass and appliances. Works great on shower doors too.

I see where you are coming from, that is why I wanted to try it side by side with the Stoners product, but I don't want to order $18.00 bucks (shipping?) worth of a product in order to do a test!

I am looking for a consumer product that is environmentally safe. Lots of people talk about the effectiveness of there products, but fail to explain it's role in the environment. Personally I am more than willing to "Step Down" if it is in a "Positive" direction to wards saving/controlling the environment. I have a feeling I have not conveyed my feelings on this matter very well, I hope this helps my feelings and direction on products.

A few people have mentioned the Cobra MFs for glass. Their *WW* MFs for glass really do work incredibly well, I was astounded. Their orange/yellow plush MFs for glass have been a mixed bag for me, some linted quite badly but one works so well that I reserve it for fine optics.

I must be the only person for whom the Autoglym and 1z glass polishes did *not* work well :nixweiss Just can't get 'em to leave things perfectly smear-free. Note that I'm generally a big fan of both those product lines.

For household windows, especially when using concentrate mixes, I sure do like professional glass-cleaning tools- scrubber/squeegee combos used in conjunction with razor blades (in ergonomic holders). I do 95% of the work with those and then give it a final touch-up with a glass towel. Sorta surprising how often the razor blades come in handy (for shearing off stuff that's really stuck to the glass).

Oh, on the topic of Windex- a while back they made a "Windex with Vinegar" version that actually worked quite well IIRC, at least for household stuff (never tried it on the vehicles). Dunno if they still make it though..

Well the real "tree-hugger" ;) approach would be to use plain water and dampen a fine-nap microfiber and the results are ok. You could even add some vinegar to the water and it would clean vinyl vapor deposits reasonably well.

A very good, environmentally friendly, glass cleaner can be made from scratch by mixing 1/2 parts Isopropyl alcohol with 1/2 parts distilled water. Add 2-3 drops of biodegradable dishwashing detergent per quart and there you go. Great cleaner and it's relatively cheap (approximately $5 a gallon).

I've used Stoners IG for a few years and found it to be a really good glass cleaner. I find both the Megs NXT glass cleaner and the Detailers line to be superior to IG. The only problem with the NXT cleaner is it's relative high price. The Detailers line is my favorite.

I don't know what is in either Stoner's or Meguiar's products. I got the concentrate at the same time Meg's was offering a new product introduction. They offered free shipping on anything I added to the order so I snagged a gallon of concentrate. :2thumbs:

If you haven't tried it yet just take Jfelbab's and my advice; YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF! Quit spending $4 on a can of stoners, and polluting the environment with cfc's and try this stuff out at only $1.29/GAL! thats like $.01 / oz. Works awesome, smells GREAT (like grapes) Reminds me of that geico commercial;

"I'm so rich, I think I'll spray Meguiars Detailer Line Glass Cleaner (just to smell it.)"

Hi Shaun, where can you buy the Meg's Detailer Line Glass Cleaner for $1.29/Gal I want to buy some. I am only able to find them at autogeek for 19.99/Gal. Please advise.

Oh sorry I just found the answer, it is concentrated 1:11 duh!

I can scratch that one off my list!

I bought 4 gross of single edge razor blades at a flea market about 3 or so years ago for $5.00 I think, that's a hell of a lot of razor blades! I agree, I have used them on windows, for bug snot, which is actually (varnish) if you include the whole bug, and a lot of other uses. Haven't put a dent in that purchase and probably never will.

I've never seen any windex product that was worth a darn to be honest. It's odd, I was raised that it was the "Go To" product for glass. But when I tried that Stoners on all the mirrors in my house the Windex went to a needy family.

Accumulator and jfelbab. In regard to vinegar (white), and all the other concoctions that you hear about, man I have tried them all! As I said on another post I think, I even contacted Maryland university and the Federal government a couple of years ago and nothing so far can touch this dam Stoners for quick easy and awesome, this is what windex should be.

There was one concoction using "ammonia" that a neighbor used that was really great! However I don't allow "Ammonia" in my house under any circumstances, the stuff is just plain to dam dangerous.

Thanks for all the replys.

Of all the products I've tried I think "orange extract" mixed with water is still the best. I buy it from Wall Mart (pharmacy). Cleaning power is excellent and it will not streak at all, and it's safe to use on tinted glass. I find AutoGlym fine as well.
