(Either that or the owners must be filthy stinking rich!)

When I was in London, a simple Jeep Grand Cherokee was a sight to behold! I can't imagine seeing Excursions across the pond.

Autonova--great job on all that real estate:up

A Hummer H2 is even crazier, seen one of those a few times here.

You see the odd H2, Escalade, F150 or Avalanche. I think they're great! Good luck to you if you can afford to run one of those things over here. :up

Getting back to the fuel duty... UK fuel is around the cheapest in Europe before the duty is added.

Here's what an average motorist pays at the pump over here: £0.85/ltr regular unleaded (95RON) x 1.88 = $1.60/ltr x 3.79 ltr per US gallon = $6.06 for a gallon o' gas

:shocked

I have nothing against semi trucks. You can't send minivans across the country to haul tons and tons of goods, or gravel around. They have a definite purpose.

At least you don't see anyone going around buying a semi tractor just to drive the kids to school.

Semi trucks are a way bigger problem than SUVs in my opinion. Over 95% of wear and tear on our roadways can be atributed to semis. And the amount of fuel that they use is insane. We need to invest in our railway infrastructure. All we would need are a hand full of semis to make the trip from the train depot to the customer. I don't have any issue with trucking companies or people who buy SUVs since they are exercising the freedom we have in the US. What the government CAN do is make long haul trucking and SUVs very unattractive financially through public transportation ifrastructure improvements and more logical road use taxes.

Oh man please close this thing, now the truck drivers are the target. It's getting ugly. Railroad tracks in front of every store, obvious someone who hasn't lived near the tracks.

guess i should get this in before it gets shutdown!!

this is why politcal statements should not be allowed on this forum or any forum (except forums about politics!!)

CarsFreak you did make a political statement and started this. Political, because this is about a fundamental right we have, called freedom of choice. Like I said, dont expect to come on board and say things like that without rustling up some feathers. This 'choice' makes me proud to live on this side of the Ocean.

One more thing, I forgot the main reason I bought my big black YUKON: He came to me on April 19th, 2004, he was 7lbs, 2oz, and I called him JACK.

LOL!! Jack.. Don't you mean 7000 lbs and 2 oz? I'm sure he's cute regardless.

now that this is so off topic, just had to add this too , food for thought:

i was recently watching A&E discovery, about cruise ships...apparently it takes one gallon of diesel fuel for it to travel 6 inches. 1 gallon / 6 inches!!!

nope, dont feel bad for getting 16 mpg.

I keep forgetting this is an international message board.

Unless you have experienced freedom, you dont know what it is.

When people start saying stuff that removes an Americans freedom, well, thats why we have the 2nd amendmant.

Only $60? My dad's has the 44.5 gallon tank (diesel), and at 2.20 per gallon, you do the math :P

To the people who hate "these cars", please show me a sedan that tows 11,000lbs. Until then, shush. I can understand the point about soccer moms driving a huge monster to bring 2 kids to soccer practice, but we actually put ours to use ;)

Oh, and it came out great :D

How many MPG do I have to get to earn the citizens of the year award.

IMO, when people have a vehicle that gets 8 mpg, it's perfectly acceptable if they actually need it. I just don't see why someone prefers to drive a vehicle around that gets 8mpg when they could accomplish everything with a vehicle that gets 20mpg+.

And don't tell me that the majority of the people with huge SUVs actually use them for hauling stuff. People like my brother for instance: he has a 5.8L automatic Bronco because he is an aggressive driver and prefers to have an intimidating front end so he can ride right on the *ss of the car in front of him.

But honestly, I get more upset when I see all the old pieces of crap around here (no emissions testing here) that emit thick blue smoke and leak oil/coolant all over the place. There's a reason you can't see more than 2 inches down in the Manitowoc River. I eat salmon out of the harbor, so obviously I don't like to see patches of oil floating down the river.

Just fix your damn seals so that you don't have to add a quart of oil every two days! It'll be cheaper in the long run anyway.

Let's put this back on track: AutoNova - great job!!:up :up Wet look, with lots of depth. You're to be commended for that kind of work!!

Thanks bud, I asked them to go ahead and close this thread, I never expected a martyr thread for SUV's.:nixweiss

I'm just pissed that there are oblivous people out there who drive such a big vehicle when it isn't needed. That include's my son's friend with the the Yukon. She's nice but hate the fact that she's a single mother with only a kid having a big car.

Those who put their to good use like haul stuff, fine good. I just sometimes can't understand why a person wouldn't want a car that is more fuel efficient. Is that a bad thing?

I decided to see what's so attractive in being the SUV club. I did the groceries using the minivan and hauled 5 bags. There, I saw other owners doing the same. 2 Suburbans, a Tahoe, 2 Explorer, a Expedition, a MDX, a H2, and a RX330. All only one person driving.

And I'm especially proud of this! Gotta love being a giant vehicle owner!

And like I mentioned, the car looks great!
