I hate these cars. It looks nice but I hate it. It just disgusts me that people drive these things. What's even worse is that I've seen only one driver in these cars. Sad when a sedan could probably accomplish whatever they wanted to accomplish and much more efficient.

I absolutely agree with you. I frequently see people driving these massive beasts around town, most of which don't even have a trailer hitch. So obviously they don't have any huge sh*t to be pulling around or anything. Most of these people just want to have the biggest truck possible. And then you get these people complaining about gas prices.

Oh, please spare me. People have a right to drive whatever they want, as long as it's their wallet taking the hit.

for one the BIG TRUCKS are safe as heck my dad has a 2004 f250 crew cab 100% stock he hit a deer at about 50mph and it didnt do anything to the truck except have some fur stuck to the bumper he said it knocked the poor deer about 100 yards down the road

ive seen alot of accidents where the little gas savers get totaled and the big truck loses the chrome on the trailer hitch

just cause u cant see the hitch doesnt mean its not there most the REAL haulers use a fifth wheel or a goose neck which is in the bed and if the tailgate is up most the time u cant see anything there

i will give it there are some that buy it just to be the biggest thing around but others buy it to use it i dont think gas and diesel prices are fair to anyone just because of the fact that some people make their living driving semi's they have to fill up they get crappy mileage too 6 and 7 mpg with a full load 300 gallons of diesel a fillup at 2.00 a gallon thats 600 bucks and ill bet 99% of everything u have has been shipped on a semi truck

the people that buy it just to be the biggest around get penalized with the big price tag of the vehical and the taxes and insurance

I have nothing against semi trucks. You can't send minivans across the country to haul tons and tons of goods, or gravel around. They have a definite purpose.

At least you don't see anyone going around buying a semi tractor just to drive the kids to school.

Sing it brotha!

I think people can drive whatever they want, but I just DO NOT UNDERSTAND the people driving these things around and there is only 1 person in there. Man, you need 15 kids to have a vehicle of this size make sense.

I work right outside of downtown Minneapolis and every day I am sitting in traffic behind one of these huge SUV's that is making its way into downtown to take up 2 spots in a parking ramp. sheesh.

I don't get it.

But hey, if you actually have things to tow or 5 kids or you work out of it, they probably do make sense to drive around in.

GREAT detail! Love the tires shine!

I am actually pissed about my Sienna getting only 15MPG in the city. The damned EPA said 19 not 15 and what's even worse that I've managed to get 13 once during that really cold spell we had.

and yes OMFG I'm damn serious. As attractive as a SUV might be, I hardly see the need for an Excursion. Why drag a monster around town when even a miniture Civic can get you around.

Well, when we run out of gas one day and maybe not me but my kids or grandkids suffer, don't say I didn't warn you.

Those who don't give a sh!t about our earth should be deeply ashamed of yourselves. What kind of selfish person are you anyway?

I drive a tahoe, Should I be ashamed?

I drive a 4200lb minivan, should I be ashamed? Might as well but I try not to drive in town since that kills gas milege.

Look if you need a big car for reasons like hauling big things everyday, go ahead. But a single woman driving a Excursion going to the office is plain sad.

You know not everyone who has a large vehicle is going to utilize it's complete capabilities every minute of every damn day, and owning two vehicles just isn't in some peoples budgets, or they just don't have the desire to have two.

It amounts to being none of your business, so kindly get down of your high horse. You're begining to make me sick. :nono

They don't understand that these cars can cause major problems with the earth. I don't even drive the minivan unless I have other people to haul. Otherwise, the sedan does quite well.

At my rate, I should be around $50 for a full tank of regular based on my last visit to the gas.

But the car looks great!

get real. dont expect to post something like that without getting a little trashed.

just to blow off some steam here, i had a 96 chrysler minivan (town and country) and it got real real bad mileage...but hey, it was a minivan!! so everyone could rest easy,,, now I have a 6.0L Yukon Denali and everyone says "hey man whatta bout the environment man , save the earth!!!" gimme a break.

at the end of the day, I bet the difference in gas, OVER A YEAR, between the two said vehicles would be about $300.00 bucks. so go elsewhere with your hippie save the planet comments.

In all categories, my Yukon is 5 times the vehicle that minivan was. oh dear, I've had too much coffee.

Wow, some people are just too much.

Now americans have to rationalize the vehicles they buy...

Hey next time you eat something like a steak, why not just have a hamburger or maybe some Mac and cheese, after all, you only eat because you are hungry, so why not eat the most affordable food? Actually, people could just throw a banana into a blender with some whey protien, and take a multi vitamin.

Its American to have big vehicles, big motors and change lanes with no directional.

People buy them and drive them, because they can.

ROFLMA!! steck I'm with you pal!! I am so sick and damn tired of the preachy "I know what's better for you than you do" mentality, I'm ready to throw up. And before anyone starts telling me to be civil, let me tell you: On this subject, this is as civil as it gets. steck, I don't where you're at in Ontario, but we can't be that far, and I'm certain that even in Canada, you heard what went on here in Detroit, with one group of people telling another certain group of people where they can park based on what they drive. Then a now former friend of my wife absolutely insists on calling any SUV an "urban assault vehicle", and that includes the wife's Ford Escape. Spare me. Before I could throw my ladies former friend's fat behind out of my house because of her comments, my wife spared me the trouble and told her now ex-friend to promptly go to hell, and take the nearest bus there.

The wife's Escape - it's rated 19 MPG in the city - you think it got this winter with the 4WD kicking in allthe time? Of course not - what do you expect. Hell, it got 13 MPG on at least two tanks of gas. It happens - get over it. I was thinking about getting an Explorer or a Mountaineer to replace my Taurus. With $2 a gallon gas, I may not, but I'm still looking at a Montego with all wheel drive. Think it will do 19 in the city during a snowy winter? Get real.

Someone don't like SUV's and trucks - hey, great. It's a free country. Just don't preach your views without expecting to be told to zip it after a while.

I think I've had too much coffee too! ;)

And I guess I have the right to say that I think all three of you and the rest of those irresponsible ones are @$$es too, right? :)

But I just realize one thing, not only is it somewhat your responsibility as consumers but as well as the manufacturers.

Look, you may think that I'm spewing out bologna but all of you should know that it's doing some negative part to the earth. Not asking you to immediately switch vehicles. I still like using my minivan but if it's not necessary most of the time if you don't need a big car.

You can do your part by trying to buy more fuel efficient cars but are you? Most likely not.

I'll admit it, I looked at the Acura MDX, Lexus RX330, Toyota 4Runner and Honda Pilot before going for a minivan. I see the attraction.

And I'm not a hippie but if I'm already called it, Peace. :wavey

Unless you drive a solar vehicle you should not throw stones. It is simlar to someone snorting cocaine and calling the guy who injects it a junky. Man you guys suck because you pollute the enviroment twice as much as I do, lmao.

I'm wondering if there is a cut off point that makes someone earth friendly and a good citizen? How many MPG do I have to get to earn the citizens of the year award. I mean if my car only polutes a little I should get a browny button right? I don't think the main complaint is fuel milage but small persons syndrom. You know, when some short guys (not all) compensate by verbally atacking people because they need to prove their strong or something. I had a boss like that once, for a very very short amount of time, no pun meant. The truth is many people with small cars don't want to share the road with their larger brothers. All I can say is you can pry my steering wheel out of my cold dead hand, because I'm waffle stomping as long as I'm breathing.

Too funny. :D

THANK YOU to steck and Len!! I was thinking it but didn't want to say it. I felt like I would be overly un-tactful. In my driving lifetime, I've ALWAYS had a large vehicle that can handle hauling. Why? Because I take several trips on the highway (altitude is a BIG advantage) and haul stuff all over (I'm a musician; being able to fit instruments and supplies in my vehicle is a must).

Sorry if that makes people mad, but it's my vehicle, my money, and I don't have to sit and take people's green peace bull-crap about it. My Astro van, Blazer, and Envoy all got/get 15 or less MPG in the city, and in fact I just spent $32 to fill the tank on my Envoy after 222 miles/about 16 gal. of fuel. Don't like it? Too bad.

I don't drink coffee, but I've had too much of whatever it is I ate/drank!

More like you have the right to shut your @ss up..... Seriously, go back to greenpeace headquarters with that stuff -- I don't want to hear it.

Besides, what the HELL are you doing on autopia if you're so enviro-friendly consius?? Do you know how much VOC pollution the production and use of detailing chemicals creates? Oh noes!! I think I just saw the sky start falling!! And... holy sh!t the devil is mounting a sleigh!!

As previously mentioned, some of us can't afford to have two vehicles. So guess, what -- we're going to drive our big vehicles all the time. Too bad. Bwaaaahhhhh.

Not to mention that as far as I'm concerned, even if we do continue to pollute, we're going to be dead long before global warming gets us. All things considered, we're going to drop nukes on eachother and kill everything off before it gets to that point. But even that I don't know that we'll see in our lifetimes.

$60 per fill sounds great! - my 3-series BMW costs $100 to fill - and it's only a 10-gal tank!

You guys don't know how lucky you are with your gas prices!!

Carsfreak is kind of right too - as much as I love big cars and SUV's - he is kind of right...

It costs me nearly $80 to fill up my Mazda MX-5 (a Miata in the US).

For most people big SUVs and pickups make no sense, they pollute more and you could say owning one is being selfish. But I do like 'em and if I had the money I'd buy one. I'd sit there in my drive reving the engine just so I could listen to the V-8 or V-10 rumble. I have seen a few around London, Surburbans, Excursions and even an Excursion limo. They're probably all converted to LPG which is half the price of normal gas. (Either that or the owners must be filthy stinking rich!)

To rub salt into the wound of all UK drivers, the government will again put up tax on fuel this September. :nixweiss
