FK1 1000P Vs. Winter: Results

Wow, that tin that tom p. posted looks a lot bigger than my (still unopened :o ) tin from last year! The product looks a little darker/more yellow than the stuff in the little sample tin I've been using too

That little sample of mine is lasting so long I simply cannot *imagine* how long a big can like tom's would last!

tom p.- To repeat ( heh heh, i.e., beat you over the head with ;) ) SuperBee364's question- what's the listed quantity on your pioctured can of FK1000P? It *looks* a lot bigger but, well...you know..

Just took a look at my can. The exact weight is 14 ounces (.3968 kilograms)

Is that the new can like tom's or the older one that I have...sorry to seem so clueless and lazy but it's raining and I don't want to run out to the shop, up the stairs, and into the storage closet (and then back) to check mine :o

I'll check this evening. I can barely read the print on the can it's so small. Whatever it is, I suspect it will do many cars :)

It looks like his. I just got my order maybe 2 weeks ago at the most

Dsoto87- OK, roger that and thanks for confirming.

tom p.- Thanks for posting the close-up pic. Looks can be deceiving as my older can says it contains 14.5 oz, 1/2 oz. more..sure didn't look like the newer can was any smaller, quite the opposite.

Won't really matter though, as a tin oughta last anybody for a long long time (consider that a tin of Meg's #16 can last me a decade).

salty- It's kinda like a "hard wax" so getting it on the applicator can be a chore, but it's easier to work if you spritz the applicator (or the FK1000P itself) with FK425. Other than that it goes on nice and easy and buffs off *very* easily...this is *not* some struggle-with-it sealant like KSG by any means.

IME it does *NOT* do any concealing.

Yeah, that's for darn sure. Like a woman, it'll reveal any flaws you have... er... your car has. Sealants just seem to make defects much more noticeable, to my eyes, anyway.

SuperBee364- Being political enough to not touch your "like a woman.." quip with a ten-foot pole (and women of my acquaintance would tell ya that it's not an exclusively female trait :o )....yeah, sealants are unforgiving.

Our truck has 3 coats from the fall and it is still cruising pretty good.

I think I might cut my hood in half and try out JW AJ and FK1000 side by side this spring/summer. I have been very impressed with Jeff's product through winter so it might be hard not to go back to it.

I was also pleasantly surprised by Pink Wax's durability, that is another nice FK product.

Thanks Accumulator for the answers, always looking for long term products for the winters up here.

And good write up SuperBee.

Holy crap this stuff is hard. I tried applying it to a panel and just gave up and put something else on.

Are you guys heating it up or scooping some out or something?

I did my car today w/FK 1000p. I ended up laying down 2 coats of 1000p following WS Prime. The FK1000p has a truly wet appearance on this color:

Just got some 1000p along with some more 425, 118, 1119 and a sample of 118 and 146. Plan to lay down a couple coats of 1000p over some DG501 this weekend followed by a coat of Pink Wax next weekend.
