FK1 1000P Vs. Winter: Results

Has anyone tried to order from FK lately? I haven't been able to order anything online for 4-5 days. They also don't do a good job of answering e-mails, or returning phone calls.

This isn't the first time they haven't answered an e-mail from me. I was really wanting to try 4-5 of their products. Oh, well. I tried.

I do find some residue coming off with this product. It's not dust, almost like tiny little particles. I should have switched to a clean pad when I layed down the 2nd coat of 1000p. The stuff on the pad had started to dry and seemed to leave more tiny little particles as I went along. Even after laundering my pads yesterday, i still find some of this particulate-like matter embedded in that pad. Kind of strange.

I experienced this today when applying 1000p. This was the third coat; the first two were applied two weeks ago. Supes has speculated that these particles are cured 1000p that are being removed by the solvents. If this is true, then this would suggest that multiple coats of 1000p are counter-productive. I eventually switched to a fresh applicator and the problem disappeared, which would seem to argue against Supe's speculation. It wasn't a serious problem and certainly does not diminish my appreciation of 1000p; but I thought I'd at least record it here and invite further thoughts. Has anyone else experienced these tiny particles while applying 1000p?

akimel- Yeah, I too experienced them but only until I switched to a fresh applicator(s). I assumed that the particles were dried-out *fresh* product from the pad getting loaded up (that Yukon XLD is a huge monster of a thing so I needed a number of applicators).

FWIW, I find that the FK1000P *does* layer, even when there's some degree of solvent-action. More applications = longer lasting, simple as that IME.

Are you talking about the FK1 website? If so, that was suspended ages ago. I think you have to telephone the mfr directly to get product or order from one of the other suppliers.
