Is WAUD the new "IT" product at the moment, it seems like #16 has disappeared!

*grumble, grumble* more money to spend!

Although thankfully I think I can get this locally......

heheh, seems so, got my 16, and just got my waud, im all up with the weekly fads!:D

I got a sample of this product with the purchase of Eagle One Wet car wash soap. I used it this past weekend; all it involved was a simple spray and wipe. Today it rained and there was a nice beeding effect. Great product for the time and money.

Im an old school user of #16, I had it before it was cool....

Lunch break time, off to the shops for WAUD I guess!

Check Costco first. I got 2 32oz bottles for under $9. Checker was selling one bottle for $6.50.

I use it just like Gear does.

I'm impressed with its beading, I washed a Jeep that hadn't been washed in years let alone waxed, no bead to the paint. I WAUD'd and then it started to rain, it beaded like nobody's business.

Great stuff.

A WAUD user posted this question on another forum:

"After I have rinsed my car, I normally take the hose nozzle off and run a stream of water over the car to sheet the water off, then I finish drying with a MF towel. I am going to try out some WAUD that I bought and was wondering if I should keep to the same routine, but just spritz the stuff on before I use the MF, or if I should not sheet the water off first, thereby leaving the car really wet before I use the WAUD.

Opinions?"

Can someone help answer his question.

I got it for A$9 so Im mighty happy, also grabbed some A2Z while I was there for A$13 ( total of US$14.50 ). :xyxthumbs

I'll give it a go on my mates car this weekend as mine needs a little more love than a wash and WAUD Im afraid.

I just grab myself a package at Costco too. They are $8.49 for 2 of the 32oz bottles WAUD product.

I also picked some up a few days ago at the Costco in Burbank. There were only a few left (damn...word spreads!!). $8.49 for a half gallon of this stuff...not bad at all. I haven't tried it while drying yet, but when used as a normal QD, it seems to work pretty well. The stuff smells just like E1's Wet WipeN'Shine....

Autozone here in the Chicago area has the smaller bottle with a mail in rebate for the full price....FREE WAUD!!

Due to the comments here, tonight, while at Walmart, I picked up the bottle of WAUD. On the bottle is lists some petroleum ingredient.

Like any good consumer, I saw the 800# on the bottle and used the ever convenient cell phone to call EO and find out what this petroleum was.

The tech guy answered the phone, "Thanks for calling Valvoline Tech Support". I said that I was considering using this product and asked if it contained silicones. He said that it did use silicones.

So...I guess the shine you're getting is due to silicones, not wax. Not much in the way of protection I'd bet either.

I'm going to pass on this one, but wanted to I'd pass along what I found out. Hey, at least the guy was honest. I have caught a few companies' Rep's not telling the truth about their products.

Ya know, the word 'silicone' is about as definitive as the word 'polymer'.

I used to have a girlfiend with some strategically placed silicone, that was a good thing.

I once used a silicone based tire dressing, that was a bad thing.

Time to review our high school chemistry... 'Polymer' is a generic term, which refers simply to a collection of molecules. How they are are linked, and cross linked, makes it a science.

Reading a label, or an MSDS, is only part of your due diligence...

Does it work in your situation?

BTW, I gotta call her...

That would be just a guess. Just remember not all silicones are bad. Lots of really good products have silicone in them. Remember the bottle says waxes also, maybe some of that shine is coming from the waxes.

Mike Phillips goes into some detail describing the differences of the good and bad petroleum distillates on one of the other sites. It was a good read. I'll post the link if I can find it.

GearHead...I have read many of Mike P's articles.

Bear in mind that he works for a company (Meguiars') that sells many silicone laden products..I would expect him to extole the virtues of silicones. But, for at least this thread, let's not get into the silicone debate.

There's another company that sells a non-silicone product that has this to say:

(I haven't bought their product)

And, 303 protectant has some very good info about tires, and plastics here:

All I was trying to do was pass along what I found out about WAUD. :xyxthumbs I was hoping it would be a good thing, as I have to dry the car anyway...a little more protection would be welcomed. But, like many products, it's the silicone that is making the shine (wax itself isn;t shiny) and I would doubt it offers little protection. I just figured it wasn't worth the cost for the benefit.

Ummm... O.K. a highly trusted brand. I'm not trying to get into yet another silicone debate either. I do believe however that if you don't want to have any silicone touch your finish you've eliminated not only junk products but a large percentage of the quality products in the market. Just my 2 cents.

Well if you're using WAUD for protection then you're using it for the wrong reason. We wax our cars for protection, why would we need WAUD to protect? I use it because it cuts down a bunch of steps (no need to clean the glass, makes drying quicker, no need to QD) and it looks good to boot. So it doesn't really matter to me if it has silicones instead of wax or not. I'm going to wax the car every month anyways.

I love it. I've tried hundreds of detailing products. WAUD easily ranks in the top five.

First, it's really easy to use. Second, it eliminates the QD step. Third, and most importantly, the shine is incredible. A good QD will make your paint "pop" a little bit; it'll take a nice wax/polymer finish and make it just a little bit better. WAUD makes it a whole lot better.

It is one incredible product.
