Do you find spray waxes "useless"?

Call me crazy, but I find them kind of useless - to do one of my cars it takes about 25minutes (getting it perfect, meaning no streaks or hazing or whatever else).....always seem to be pulling my hair out, as it looks like I've wiped it all down, then look at another angle and sure enough there's haze leftover.

I usually end up pissed off and re-do it by waxing it with my cyclo, takes about 35minutes (and a perfect job with no swearing or frustration).

Maybe it's just me, but I"ve never had much luck with spray waxes and since it usually only takes me an extra 10minutes or so to actually wax it, I've always just stuck with waxing after my wash if I had to.

if you get haze after spray waxing your car, either you are at a high humidity area or using too much. I have OCW and AquaWax, with great results. Try to play with your technique a little and see what you can achieve. Sometimes, less is more...

using AW and the alike, haven't been much trouble to me at all. the key is to not over use product, which will cause streaking (using quality microfiber towels also helps)...

Are you spraying the panel directly with the wax? I really can't see streaking or hazing if the wax is sprayed on a towel and buffed with the dry side to finish.

Could be because of your own technique. You can buy Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax at any auto store. Very easy to use. Spray one section at a time using a MF, one side for removal and the other side to wipe clean. It's the lazy way to wax a car within minutes.

Im the opposite, Spray waxes/sealants are probably my most used/favorite type of products.

QDs I have found to be slightly useless nowadays. In the same time it takes me to QD, I could be using a spray wax that actually boosts protection

I like Quik Wax as a weekly maintenance after washing and drying. I can do my SUV in 10 minutes with UQD. It doesn't stain trim and works on textured vinyl and glass too. It is a wowo product and I've not had any streaking issues in high humidity and low, hot and cold.

The enhanced slickness makes the car much easier to keep clean, IMO.

I use DG Aqua wax as a "wax as you dry", and find it to be a good "booster" wax used that way. No streaking issues, either.

I'm a big fan of using spray wax as a booster wax as well. You really do get a lot longer life out of your wax if you keep a quick coat of spray wax on top of the car. I personally like Eagle 1 Nanowax spray because you can get it for like $4 and it really helps to bring out metallic flake and give a car extra pop.

I usually spray it on the car directly then spread and buff with a MF towel and don't get haze or streaking.

Apparently my technique needs work with it then, lol.

We can probably help

What are you using, method, how much?

I use DG AW after most washes (some times I use UQD). I use it as a final wipe down after the wash to make sure that all the possible streaks from drying are gone.

I usually fold a MF into 1/4s, mist 1-2 sprays on one panel of the towel to prime it. I buff over the panel enough to get even coverage, flip to dry side for 1 pass over the panel.

I then add 1-2 sprays more to the primed side, repeat. I get many (25-30) applications per 22 oz bottle using it on full size trucks and an suv. It usually takes 10 min to do a crew cab truck this way.

This works for me very well.

Meguiar's quick wax; just give a few squirts (3-4) onto the panel (e.g., trunk), purple cobra jr mf to rub it in, then flip mf over and buff it off. I don't do a horrible job - it'd be like a, say, 90-95% in autopean standards - it's always the little hazing and streaking here and there that drives me crazy. And by the time I've hunted them all down, I may as well just have busted out my cyclo and re-waxed it.

the megs quik wax and nxt spray wax are more of a apply, let it haze, and then remove type product. if you are going to use a spray wax by megs, get the ultimate quik wax which is more of a WOWO type of product, easier to use, and a better overall than the others IMO...

Exactly. I used QD's to clean my helmet visors and for clay lube now....

Yep, if you are talking about one of those types, I too find those useless. Its just as easy to use a regular liquid wax. AW is fantastic on lighter colors, I think OCW is better on darker colors. Both will make you toss the Qwik wax.
