Well what did ya expect ???

Its been a bit stale round here for a while so I thought I might spice it up a lil bit.

After starting the two popular 'What Products Wouldn't You Use' and 'What Vehicles Do You Dislike Alot' I've been racking my brains and come up with :

What part of the detailing process do you HATE ?

Theres always something you find immensely tiresome, but needs to be done as part of the over all procedure.

I know Jngrbrd hates windows, and my bugbear is dressing tires.

Next ?

OMG I HATE YOU!! While I was detailing a clients car today I said to my self, SELF, you should post a thread on Autopia asking what people hate the most about detailing. Man thats really odd!

I HATE HATE HATE HATE WINDOWS!! I couldnt get a streak free window to save my life.

My problem with windows is that they are usually the last thing I do and I'm pretty dirty at that point. I'm also tired and just don't feel like doing it. Use the right product and it becomes easier though. Windows do suck though. Big time.

I really hate wheel wells though. I never know what to do with them. Do I leave them the way they are or shine them up? I'm always at a loss there. Usually they just get left alone and I end up feeling like I missed a spot the rest of the day. I hate those.

Bizarrely I actually like doing windows ....

Gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside seeing those nice crystal clear panes of glass when I'm done ...

*sigh*

I've come to the conclusion MFs suck for glass no matter how good they are they ALWAYS lint!!!... I stick with clean cotton terry now.

You hit the nail on the head with the last thing that you do and you just do not want to do them. I dont mind wheel wells at all they are one of the first things that I clean. I clean them as I start with the tires and rims. Then when the vehicle is washed and dried I bring it into the garage dress the wheels then the wheel wells. That way in the few hours it takes to finish the detail they dry nice and matte(sp)

Didnt the forums one have a spell checker?

I have to follow the crowd and say interior glass. The worst I have dealt with is the Maxima's. No matter what I do to clean it, I still get a lot of haze on the rear glass. :grrr:

I despise the insides of the rims. The Z generates a lot of brake dust up front, and without taking the wheels off, it's next to impossible to get around the brakes and make the insides perfect.

On my GTI 337: The wheel wells and the continual, week-long (well, not exactly) water drip from the rear quarter glass panels....nothing gets the water out completely!

On the Tahoe: Oh, just about everything. My wife does a great job of getting it really dirty.

When I detail my father's SUV I really dread cleaning his rims. He collects a lot of brake dust on his 20 spoke OE rims and it is a pain to get my fingers between all of the crevices to get rid of the dust/dirt.

I used to really dislike cleaning windows because it would take me forever to get them clean on the outside using windex or 20/20. Now I just wipe rainx on the windows and wait a few minutes and then take it off with QD. It works great and leaves the windows looking perfect.

I'm gonna have to go with rims, they just get dirty and are a pain to clean.

I used to hate cleaning windows, but since I've discovered MF towels, they are no longer a pain.

I hate cleaning the grilles. Specifically my billet grille. The front of my truck collects entire flocks of bugs and sucks to clean up. I don't mind my wheel wells now that I have some liners for it. I just clean them when I do my tires and rims and then dress them. It really cleans the look up and sets it off from all the trucks with all the exposed undercarriage. And yes WINDOWS SUCK.

The E38 (90's) 7 series stock rims. They are a PITA. They have like 50 slots that all collect brake dust. I've found that if you wash a MF that you use for glass with one that use to remove wax, it won't be the same, unless you wash it like 5 times seperately. I've been using a batch of 5 MF's for my glass that have never seen wax and so far, streak free.

As for wheel wells- I've found Stoner's Trim Shine to work great, just spray and the wheel wells look dark and shiny. BTW: If anyone is interested in buying some Trim Shine or Invisible Glass- PM me. I bought a bunch in bulk and need to unload some.

I'm with those who say the back side of the wheels. My wheels are a simple 5 spoke design but its easy to see the backs of them thru the space between the spokes. Since my brakes generate so much dust, they get dirty within a few days of washing them. I wish I could remove my wheels every time I washed just to get them really clean.

Like Smoker, I actually enjoy windows. They're a challenge but I'm always up for it.

I do mine thoroughly every 5K when I rotate the tires but, in between I put the 'Stang up on ramps to do the backsides of the rims. I also catch the underside of the car at the same time.

I hate Windows and wheelwells. I also find when useing AIO I get like some darker and lighter spots looks like grease spots. but after a couple passes and hard rubbing with the QD it goes away i dont know why i get.
